    Good day!

all the best. best thing that could ever happen to you!!! i am a proud father of 2.
  5. no disrespect to the guy/gal who started this thread, but after this weekend, this topic about attitudes makes no sense. i rode yesterday at the cradle. i had a decent response of hello's and enough people greating me and all were on road bikes. so, this is not a big issue as some people make it out to be.
  6. i dont share the same sentiments. alot of cyclists enjoy both disciplines of cycling as do i. my opinion on the difference of attitudes lies in that road cyclists are always concentrating on their training, their heat rate etc, and generally have determined training purpose for their ride, whilst mtb'rs on the other hand also may share some of the same qualities but not at the same level of intensity. there is a far more exciting, dirtier, more free atmosphere, some what resembling the days of your youth, where you enjoyed riding your bmx, very ruff and tumble. and you generally shared those bmx'img moments with friends, hence the more sociable atmosphere from the mtb'rs. however, mind you that there some grumpy mtb'rs and also very sociable roadies. just my 2c
  7. I agree with Mampara. if you had not received other quotes, they would have sold the bikes at the original prices. As you are an avid cyclist and know the estimate prices bikes and other stuff, what happens to the other novice cyclists that live probably closer to a cycle shop, and due to the convienance of the store they would shop at the store and pay extreme prices. (this is no direct hit to Cycle Lab and applies to all stores). My opinion is using recommended retail pricing on bikes etc. smaller stuff pricing can be to the descretion of the LBS and the LBS should sell his name based on his service that he offers. Customer service is what we all want today.
  8. how much weight can you save when you cut your seatpost? remember, one day you might want to sell it.
  9. a perfect example of unity and strength. this is what i am talking about the thread on Preston Luke Scott. Hubbers getting together, pooling their resources to get the criminal. i am glad to be part of this community!!!
  10. i agree. come on Admin.
  11. well, reply with 9mm of my own. got luck to them!!! the problem here lies in that criminals are able to commit crime without consequence (and i am not talking about the justice system, dont want to even open up that can of worms). we as citizens do not take a stand. we dont make the time to equip ourselves with the knowledge to protect ourselves and those around us. each time we allow these criminals (hijacker or the white collar criminal) to continue, they thrive on that they can get away with it. right here on our hub, chris is looking for "Preston Luke Scott" who by the sounds of it has stolen chris's money. But if we allow this to continue, someone else or maybe you and i will fall trap to this. i understand that the consequences in a hijacking situation is life threatening (i suppose if Chris find Preston, then its life threatening for Preston ), but we need to create a sense of unity and strength against criminals. my point is broader than the hijacking incident.
  12. depends on whether amount has already been transferred into the other bank. else the other bank needs permission from the account holder to release or transfer any money out of that account.
  13. maybe sounds stupid to you now, but i wonder what would your response be if it was your wife or daughter or someone close that was getting hijacked???? the point being made here, is that most south africans are able to turn a blind eye to things like this, when we should be making a stand. run the hijacker over, call someone, take a stand against this!!!!
  14. Chris, maybe rather than laying case of fraud etc, explain the story to the police and maybe get them to get his residential address. take them with to his place, and see whats up? or maybe try and get a next of kin's number / work etc from the bank? many things could have happened to him. please keep us informed on the progress on this
  15. your are right, this is so common. i remember in KZN, when one of my friends was hijacked when she had stopped at a red traffic light. car behind and in front, no-one helped!! really sad. they just drove around the vehicle.
  16. seen many parents letting their kids stick their heads out the windows whilst driving!! also witnessed a parent leaving his 2 young (under 5) kids in the back of an open bakkie when he ran into a shop. but again you would see the kids buckled up in the back seat, but the parent is driving in excess of 140km/h. so the responsibility of being a parent is where? there is a long list of things we as parents need to do and live by. i dont know all the rules and sometimes find myself doing irresponsible things, but i try my best. this is a tough topic. so any bets on who is going win tomorrow's FA Cup game: Man United or Liverpool???

    Ballito rides

dont do the N4, its a suicide mission. i used to stay Stanger, just passed Ballito. it was very often that cyclists got run over by either a car or truck on that road. there are better roads in Compensation, but i suggest you go with a group, can get a bit quite. Park Cycles is in Ballito, Rob Parkis the owner. he is in the office park across from Toyota. Zululand Cycles is also in Ballito, near the Hirsch store. You can mtb from ballito to stanger. some good riding. missing my mtb rides in the sugar cane already. think i must take my MTB out this afternoon!!! good luck.
  18. the story seems odd that the distributor is not willing to process the orders manually. there must a be another problem. in almost all retail and distribution companies, the downtime when upgrading any IT infrastructure is almost minimal or they ensure that their customers (LBS's) are taken cared off. Else the distributor's planning is very poor and has no interest in keeping his brand's reputation good.
  19. if SA gets bowledout today, we are done for!!! but you must admire india for coming back after the first test match game.
  20. Hi, sorry, i have not been able to put some effort in to getting this initiative going over the last few days. I am responsible for implementing an ERP system and last week was my GO LIVE date, so was extremely busy. will make contact will all parties later today. i have also contacted Simon at the Diepsloot Development, and the suggestion is to give the bike to the development so that more than 1 child can benefit from the bike. later

  23. the driver also had his 10yr old son with him. funny, i almost got run over this weekend on Hendrik Potgieter. around 5:15 was cycling out to the cradle. roads where quiet, hardly any cyclists, well i did not see anyone else riding towards the cradle. then just passed the driving range, an idiot with an audi, travelling in the opposite direction, swayed of his lane and was heading directly for me, when just before the yellow line on myside of the road, he swerved back to his own lane. think the idiot fell off to sleep. and my luck would have it that he would be heading for me!!! but just has he got back to his lane, a police vehicle came passed me and made a you turn and chased after the guy. sont know where your luck lies. just becareful out there. always be aware of what is going on around you!!
  24. same problem here. used to drive out to the cradle and then ride. did not enjoy the first few km of the ride. then i found my solution. i stay close to Hillfox, so i decided to ride from home to the cradle. nice flat road, small hill before you get to the N14 intersection and then down to the kromdraai turnoff. body eases up nicely, breathing is good, pedal stroke is also good, then i can let rip abit. now i enjoy the cradle ride. i think the worst feeling is to warmup on the uphills and try to catch your breath thereafter.
