  1. bud, don't limit it to roadies - there have been a few threads slating MTB'ers littering in NATURE RESERVES, and, when cycling the argus route last week, I saw the carnage that runners left along the road between the circle and the stadium with all their blue water sachets - the road was literally blue with the sachets....... don't blame it on roadies bud! Blame it on the athlete. re Sani2C - so you litter on the sly then?
  2. cussing / swearing is not against the law....
  3. Search for the 'Durbanville area roadies' - quite a few of them ride MTB as well (to my disgust seeing that it is a roadie thread). post a note there and see who is about. Look around on the group rides topic - you will find loads of rides that happen on a weekly, if not daily, basis.
  4. I did a setup at Cyclelab there by Tygervalley when I still had the Bianchi. There are two types, a visual setup and then a more in detail electronic setup. Dunno price though.....
  5. This is starting to sound like that classifieds ad that popped up just before the race - chickie wanting a domestique.
  6. because she didn't cycle. I did. Edit: and I started in A and wanted to be there at least an hour before the start to get a good start spot before the pens filled up.
  7. it isn't cool because these guys are who the youth look up to - 'if he can do it, why can't I?' mentality runs through.
  8. hmmmm. says he who didn't make it.
  9. So, did anyone else get parked in yesterday? I had gotten early to the parking across from the stadium, parked nicely and went to the start line. Finished, chatted, and then went to where I parked, only to find that I had a row of cars parked ON the pavement in front of me and two rows of cars behind me. After a long wait, a guy who had parked on the pavement, a few cars down, pulled out, and I had just enough space to drive between two trees and get out. I was really MIFFED at the lack of thought these driver had when they parked their vehicles.
  10. Someone suggested this on FB: Pro/Elite start at 6:00, SV - 6:03, Vets + Master - 6:06, Ladies - 6:09, Tandem 6:30, A - 6:33, B - 6:34 etc
  11. Nice one man! I tried my best to ride in the bunch but there were so many guys passing and then closing the line I was riding that I spent most of my time riding to the front and filtering towards the back, and repeat. There were 3 guys in particular - 2 x pnp riders (one A and another VB seeded) and another guy with some wording on his back, who rode like absolute tjops. Almost caused crashes on a few occasions. Edit: and the amount of guys squeezing on the corners! donner!
  12. I saw a few guys with GoPro's on their handle bars
  13. Nice one Slowbee! Maybe we should get our bikes together to get your bike to go a little faster.LOL!
  14. The pace was alright....... I knew my legs felt heavy from the start so it was a controlled death. What was your finish time? A DC team buddy (german guy) was riding very strong. He got a flat in Hout Bay
  15. So was A. We hit the 55Km mark at 1hr30. Then the guys put the hammer down!
  16. Well, I see I finished 10th in the bunch (again) but we were told to slow down because of the ladies/VB crash - the last person was taken off the road 300m ahead of us as we approached. We were shouted at to slow down.
  17. give a rough idea on time goal too.
  18. glad I missed it then!
  19. you and MTB_Roadie (as far as I know)
  20. Got it for the 2nd time (done 3 Argus races) and bettered last years time by 4m12s. Wasn't my best on the day. Think I over trained in the weeks leading up to the race, but at least it leaves room for improvement for next year. p.s. where do I see what the kit looks like? I saw an interview of a guy in Smt on his 2nd lap wearing white sub 3 kit which looked quite nice.
  21. sms time subtracted from start time corresponds with racetec's result but my Garmin has it 3 seconds less.... started at the gun and stopped over the first timing mat.
  22. Hey, I was out front twice - over the first climb on Boyes proper (which didn't really count because no one followed and sat my wheel) and then again on the descent on the other side of little chappies and until the concrete hang over (where I was overtaken and left for dead). I never saw you once off the front, but then again, that wasn't your strategy was it.
  23. I want to try get my missus to ride next year with a friend of hers (riding buddy's girlfriend)
  24. Not great to hear guys........ but at least you weren't involved in any of the crashes
