  1. Done! I don't have kids myself but I wouldn't wish this type of disease on anyone... good work man! Have a great Ironman and I am looking forward to the bike standoff with Garfield... I see heavy legs going into the run
  2. Lets try... 3rd time lucky? I'll take 2 FRAIL Make it 3 :D Eft done
  3. Well there you have it - chainring is flexing under power. Adjust the top limit screw to allow for enough separation, but not too far that it causes you chain to drop off the outside when going from small to big blade.
  4. Congrats man! (Y)
  5. or LinkedIn for that matter
  6. Easiest - search the person on Facebook and message them...
  7. Maybe not eating enough? I pre-hydrate (like you do), have a banana / bar before the race, eat something at 45min, 1:30 and 2:30-ish. Argus was Banana before start, bar at 45min, bar at 1:30, banana somewhere between chappies and suikerbossie, and that was it. I rode on one bottle of 32Gi (well, still had left over), and emptied my water bottle going through Hout Bay (to reduce weight for the climb up suikerbossie). Tank was empty after chasing down suikerbossie, but that is due to training (or the lack thereof). But definitely look at your frame size first. I tried riding my wife's bike while waiting for my replacement frame, and it killed me.
  8. That 'M' thing could be your problem... you should be on at least a 'L', or potentially XL. I'm 1.95m and ride a 58cm frame (XL).
  9. Question - what is your diet like? Might sound like an arb question, BUT, I can't do any type of Gel's (GU, etc) on a ride because I cramp horribly a few minutes afterwards and almost can't even pedal anymore. I now make my own energy 'bars' and ride like a machine... well, I try. It also has a lot to do with sleep and how your body feels on race day (and what you have put in leading up to race day).

    Help!

Dude, I think he's hoping that someone will bring one to him or something
  11. Try Grant Waites - http://www.getadoc.co.za/Grant-Whaits - Boikinetist but I am sure he could help or point you in the right direction.
  12. Believe me, I tried, but sitting slip is a lot more easier than sitting on the front...
  13. Lekker Colliehond!
  14. No worries! I was hoping that a few guys would also try to bridge the gap and get rid of the drift wood... like the one who broke away with 3km to go - where the hell was he the entire race?! By the time we caught your CAT buddy in Adidas kit, I was smoked. Just hanging onto a wheel to make it to the end. It was difficult to overtake you on that stretch as you two were side by side and there wasn't really space to go past... The lack of legs didn't help me either
  15. Unlike Skistar15, I had a great race in A-C. Being a heavyweight does bring the challenge of climbing with the lightweights, but I take it in my pedal stroke. Crested with the lead riders and worked well together. Initiated a 'blast of speed' after the fruitsellers 4-way. Think I overcooked myself there... Turning towards the pig farm and R44, it was difficult to sit in the bunch as we were moving so slow (damn wheel suckers), that I was taking turns up front just to get the speed going. Paid the price on the R44 with a 2 man break going off and as hard as I tried, just couldn't bridge the gap. Kudo's to the Hotchillee rider who was awesomely strong and consistent. He pulled the chasing bunch to catch me just before the Fairview turnoff. From there it was head down, watching the wheel ahead of me and rolling through when it was my turn to. Towards the finish, 500m to go banner, all of a sudden there are riders in our group who I hadn't seen for the entire race... Damn wheel suckers. Anyways, had a good race but just didn't have the legs at the finish for the sprint. Note to those reading this: if you aren't riding league (where it's seen as tactics), being a wheel sucker isn't cool. Period. If you want to be in a bunch, contribute to the bunch effort, and if you can't, just stay at the back.
  16. I think it's pretty similar... Around 1100m but the difference is that the majority of the Argus ascent is towards the last third of the race ( Chappies and Suikerbossie)
  17. Time to work on drinking less fluids...
  18. Nicely done!
  19. Details for the ride on the 1st March?
  20. but to answer the question - take him to CWC's track and have one of the guys he 'beat' on the last segment challenge him to a couple laps on the track... things will become clear very quickly.
  21. I know Nico well, and he is a frigging monster! For some oke to merrily go faster than him and the rest of the field - I think he crashed so hard his chip flew without him to the finish... that finish pic is the ghost of him finishing.

    2013 DC

Quite intense! I remember going past there when they had either a bakkie or ambulance standing there (don't remember as was flying down there after a puncture). Condolences and strength to friends and family. RIP Barend
  23. Ah, but he got that info from me...
  24. The beta is independent from the race time. See the Beta as a difficulty index. I do see this as a 'rabbit in the hat' thumb suck... The winners' time is usually adjusted to reflect as if an Argus winning individual was to win - which is the case for Die Burger - and therefore the winning time was not adjusted.
