  1. Howdee, I did a cycling trip with 3 of my buddies December 2 years ago and rode from PE to Buffelsbaai. We went through the Baviaans Nature Reserve with a back-up vehicle. We stayed at Komdomo on the second night of the trip and then rode through the reserve to 'Bo-Kloof' if my memory serves me correctly. Did 104km with a tad over 2000m ascent and rode 12 hours...it was the most rewarding cycling trip of my life!

  2. in 2013 Janette Murray-Wakelin and Alan Murray run around Australia in Vibrams (366 marathons in 366 days)

Noted, but they could probably do it in crocs too...

I think that a distinction should be drawn between making claims that are unfounded (which was the subject of the class action lawsuit) and mere 'puffery' about the qualities of the shoes. No doubt that one can run in them etcetera (even do marathons such as the people you have referred to) but one cannot claim something that cannot be substantiated, ie. material claims in a legal sense - then it would be a material misrepresentation.

  3. Interesting article that I've spotted where Vibram, the company that brought us the 'barefoot shoe' was recently at the receiving end of a class action lawsuit in the US of A...bottom line, their claims relating to the benefits of their particular shoes could not be achieved and now they are paying for it!

Reminds me of the 'powerbalance' bracelets... :whistling:

  4. Of anything in this world I haven't seen anything more inspiring than Pieter du Preez. In 2003 he was left quadriplegic in a cycling accident. He only has his head, shoulder, limited arm function and no hand or finger movement. I have heard that he has completed the 2013 event in 13hrs 20mins. Check out this link:

If you search for "supapiet" on Youtube you'll also find him there.

What an amazing man! Against all odds.

  5. Howzit all,

I took my bike to Morningside Cycles a week ago upon recommendation of a mate of mine. What a good bunch of guys. I dealt with Colin who was very helpful.

I took my bike in again today as my front shock was giving me a few hassles - Colin immediately offered to lend me a shock so that I can continue riding until I've received my one back!

Keep it up guys! I will most certainly be back and punt your business whenever I get the opportunity to!

Ja...dis omdat jy so 'n dosie is!

  7. If anyone thought Hansie Cronje was a big kn0b, then Lance takes his place. What an idiot. I don't care if he's beat cancer, has one testicle, blah blah, he took everyone for a fool.

It is interesting - in SA law you are innocent until proven guilty. However, what most don't realise is that the evidence against the 'accused' may harden into facts against him and may be found guilty based on his own silence.

  8. I've also heard that one won't be able to get 'slow takkies' (aka running shoes) anymore. Apparently some shoes also roll over obstacles better than other not-so-lekker takkies! Apparently, if you buy a very good camera your photography automatically improves on the same scale as the price.

I've also been looking to get a better computer 'cos my typing skills will improve automatically and I will automatically meet all my deadlines...
