  2. I'm a big Ben Howard fan! And sort of glad he's not yet that popular in RSA.
  3. I snapped my shimano RS-80 C24 CL'rear right spoke last week. I've phoned the shimano importers, they told me that I must work through my LBS. The LBS told my they can only order a spoke kit @ R599. I broke 1 spoke. Please advise me where I can get 1-3 spokes separately. Any place in Gauteng will work. Thanks!
  4. It's a simple rule. It makes sense. Just think how thick the rule book would be if they had to include all the exceptions and grey areas.
  5. Is the CM on tonight?
  6. Please throw me with some details about when and where tomorrow? Thanks!
  7. I thought "Monster" is a label they stick on a certain part of the population so that the rest can tell them apart. Comes in sideways wearing caps, t-shirts, car's bonnets, and just about any surface a sticker can be placed on. I will only be caught with the "Monster" label, if they pay me. Why wil someone pay money for someone elses' advertisements. That said, I think Monster is one of the worlds leading brandnames in this regard. They only pay a handfull of "superstars" and a large part of their followers are doing the advertisement. If I need a caffeine shot, I'll rather get some espresso.
  8. Everybody is up in arms about this incedent. My first thought when I saw this, is that he didn't know the dog was tied to the bakkie. Let's not just asume het did this on purpose. Maybe someone else tied the dog to the back. It's not clear in the pic if the dog was tied, or just on a leash. If we have the facts and it's clear this was on pupose then I agree with all the above comments. I just can't believe that someone will do this on purpose in the first place, and secondly be so absent minded to drive through town with the dog dragging. My 2c.
  9. Won't work. Will only be another form of income for the goverment. If it was an easy ,effective and cheap license to get and put on, I won't mind. If it's like getting a car license, then I don't even want to bother. Also I can't see the larger of the bicycle commuter comunity paying for a license. BTW: Will a bicycle be checked for road worthyness? What will the criteria be?

    Rapha Festive 500

    I'm in.
  11. Haven't watched Premium Rush, but will very soon. But I have to agree, American Flyers is the best. Watched it last week, ...again!
  12. Insane!!!
  13. It's a nice set. I have one and don't have any complaints. For R100 you can also buy any other available lens type. Clear/yellow/polarised...
  14. I cant watch/listen at work, but I will defend Afrikaans music. But not the mainstream rubbish (maybe that's what you ment by modern). There is a few Afrikaans bands that makes good music. They don't get the airplay or money that the others get. But maybe that's the reason their music is good. My point is that not all is lost.
  15. Adapt or die. I can see some cycling shops surviving in RSA and others will be closing in due time. It all comes down to what your LBS can give you, the customer, that will add value to your cycling. Things like SERVICE, clubs, rides, backup and support. Not everyone will buy online, the customers without proper knowledge of their bikes wil still trust the LBS Mechanic's to give advise. And again, If the LBS makes you feel like a Pro, and don't BS you for your money, they will have a base of returning customers.
  16. If you read through the post you'll see my later comments. I was poking fun at the guys making this a Road vs MTB issue. I bike. If it's on or off road. Don't matter. I don't see why people are always making an issue with MTB vs Road. I love cycling. I also do both and more. PS. never tell a MTB'er his discipline is not tough, then they'll attack you from all sides. They are a touchy bunch. I don't think I have to prove that. I'm not a roady or a MTB'er. I am a cyclist.
  17. Kudos for admitting it firsthand.
  18. I think the big isues is a lot of noobs believe that you can't compete 100km without some or other "special" shake or gel. While I do believe these stuff works to a extent, I don't think they are absolutely needed. You can ride with flat coke and a bannana. When asked what I use, I usually respond with: "Training."
  19. read post #156
  20. By no means other than my own opinion. LOL. It's a touchy subject for cyclist who conforms to single disciplines. I am a cyclist. If it has two wheels and pedals, I'll ride it.
  21. Why is this a MTB vs Roadie Isue? He's a profesional cyclist that used illegal substances to boost his performance. I know road cycling is physical more demanding , but I can see MTB'ers doping for the excact same reasons.
  22. Stelvio - looks pretty legit. Maybe not the angle, but the road does exist.
  23. Where's this?
