    Shaving

Right. If I believe that, I believe the Lions will win the Super 14 next year. Works! It will take some convincing. Oooh eina' date=' it hurts just thinking about that one. It looks gay. I'm a roadie but maybe it's just a phase I'm going through. I think she would look really crappy with hair legs. This is one of the illogical ones I have heard already. Cna't get my mind around this one. ever been to Brazil?

    Shaving

there are many reasons: massages are easier (though no-one actually gets rubbed down) Less pain in a crash easier to apply pre race rub cooler on ascents prevent the lycra pulling it out looks cool (All roadies are gay?!) because my wife insists hygeine because all cyclist shave. and lastly, I worked for hours on these legs and I want others to perv. the last reason is the real reason
  3. there was a thread on recovery this morning.
  4. Spidy slowpoke is as short as her temper. refer to Shrek 1.
  5. Spidy, I tend to agree that the roads are lawless. On my commute which is only 13km one way, I count on average 5-10 traffic violations daily. The most worrying thing is there is no INTENT on the side of the offender. They either do not register what they are doing, or even worse don't think it is wrong. That mixed with the attitude that the roads are there only for motorcars (check LOon's eariler postings for more on that) makes the roads very dangerous. Favourite disasters for this month alone: A diplomat flies past me just in front of SADIC and turns left into Pikkewyn without indicating. For the guys who know the area, the guy on the corner waters his lawn in the morning and the road is always wet there (A Vuka was destroyed in a similar incident a few months ago on the precise stop. ON the corner of Lynwood and Duncan, at the intersection infront of FPC (Brooklyn) there is a right turn arrow from lynwood into Duncan. Unfortunately, many motorists ignore the red light and jump it often into cyclists and buses. Duncan and Churchinto Church, there is a left turn option lane, however cars treat it as a forced left turn and often speed down there cutting off and accross cyclists. Speeding on Klapperkop- constantly. and those are just some of the danger areas.
  6. as I posted earlier, and it is also included in the manufacturers instructions, PUT THE SENSOR ON YOUR BACK. It will pick up your heart there as well.
  7. If at anystage you wish to have first hand practical demonstrations on how to do it, then there are a few hubbers that will give of their time freely.
  8. you hold the asssets out of the way while she slides the Heart rate monitor strap (and not HR) underneath and then straps tight. Alternatively , you she can wear the sensor on her back. Works like a cupless bra

  10. T, It is an accepted preception that when there is building activity in a region the crime rate increases. After I had extended my house I was broken into three times in three weeks. (Excluding the time when I bust the builders stealing my camera's ext on site). Yes, then then got the cutest littel doggy ever (Authur), who sleeps at my bed room door at nights. BUt it takes months for dogs to grow into the role of protector, and usually they will only protect you, and not your possessions. The east rand has always been a tuff place. (Grew up there myself). I hope you recover you goods. Ask HR to ping the bike shops and second hand shops to keep an eye for your bike. THe nearest cash converters should have it by now. Good luck.
  11. Hog, if you take a cold shower before you put the pants on, everything should fit in. For recovery compression pants do work. For picking up men, that you will have to try for yourself.KonaFan2008-10-21 01:12:10
  12. Okay, in a perfect world, we all respect the rules and all are concerned with the safety of ourselves and others. However, Gauteng is not the perfect world. Most of us have not even bothered to read the road regulations, let alone obey them. Also we are more morried about our precious convenience even to the detrement of our own safety. So put arrogance, ignorance and aggression together, mix with a car and three bicycles and you get what? the situation that occured, with both sides claiming the other group was wrong, but neither side able to cite why, other than, "I was inconvenienced" "My safety was compromised". No-one will learn anything form this. The world will not be made a better place.
  13. Recovery food. Chocolate milkshake, rare steak with chilli sauce, and a protein shake. Rest. Sleep the rest of the day Ice. Cold shower (helps with the sleep) Compression. Compression pants for at least an hour Elevation. putting your legs up on the table and reading the ride magazine or playing computer games.
  14. The fact is nobody knows what makes normal respectable law abiding citizens who hold down respectable jobs and are responsible and dedicated family men behave like lunatics when they get behind the steering wheel of a motorcar. Its beyond me. Not quite the same thing KonaFan and you know it.! How many motorists will ride a woman off the road' date=' harass her and remove her keys. Not too many. At least I have never heard of it. How many motorists will intentionally stop at a light and kick a dent into a fellow motorists door, jump back into the car and disappear. Not that popular an activity, believe me.! There is a differance between driving a car in a reckless fashion on a highway and misbehaving, and physically harassing woman as these cyclists did. ...........but hey, see it as you like.! [/quote'] you not from Gauteng, are you?
  15. I concur with you. It seems that every training ride is a race. THis is why I cycle more on my MTB and commute bike than actually partake in road cycling. Like HR, I have five bikes (although my wife uses one) and refuse to race.

  17. Show me where your bicycle falls into any of those catagories? And... http://www.transport.gov.za/library/legislation/road%20traffic%20act.txt taxes... do you use fuel in your bicycle... If not... then I guess that vehicles that do have the right to the road as they are in effectivly paying for it... I do use fuel in my car, so does that exclude me from the "freeloading" bicyclists? If so is there a badge I should wear, like "Leave me alone, I also pollute the planet with petro-carbon emissions". or "I am also a motoring jerk". Are pedestrians that use the road (or come into contact with the road) also part of the "not wanted"? May I cross/ transverse a tar road on foot, or should I drive around until I can park on the correct side of the road, so as not to use the road in anything but a car. While you are busy depriving everyone BUT motorists the right to use roads, please cite your references. and lastly, have you paid your taxes this year?
  18. another fan of kona.
  19. Bateleur don't go there. THE rules are clear. Cycles are entitled to thr left side of the ROAD. (not lane) are like all road users should more WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO, to the left of the lane to allow passing traffic. Passing traffic should not pass other vehicle (INCLUDING CYCLISTS) until it is safe to do so. All road markings ext should be respected by EVERYONE. It is always amazing how the rules only apply to other people. AND the guys who know the least seem to say the most.
