  1. Isnt it a pain on the butt to get something from the tables? Mind you having a camelbak could also be a pain. In the 2012 K2C I skipped the 1st two waterpoints "want ek het mos my camelbak". Ended up bombing and cramping completely at 56km's. I might get me one of those top tube bags and take a water bottle and make use of the waterpoints?
  2. Should it be better to stop while I'm ahead? Would it be ssfer to say my mind is at work? (for a change?)
  3. I'm also doing my first and probably last one this year. MTB with knobblies, they are due for replacing anyways. Will see how training goes....but I think I'm just gonna enjoy the day. Only really started training last weekend after a month of doing zero, so not expecting too much at this stage.
  4. you are bringing tears to my eyes.....
  5. I will be riding for my dad too....he passed away in Feb this year and the race is a week before his 73rd birthday.
  6. I dont think its offensive at all. Gives us a lot to think about and be thankful that we havent been injured like that.
  7. What is the question to that answer?
  8. Noooooooo man not "that" ....what are you thinking??
  9. Can you believe I finally did it?
  10. Dude, go to facebook, search for Karoo to Coast fan page, there are quite a few people selling theirs.....
  11. My thinking for the 94.7 was this: the knobblies on my mtb would need replacing towards November. So, just gonna ride them nice and smooth. And replace after 94.7 The plan is also to do the majority of my training on the trails etc and then hit the road for the fun ride. As per Rouxtjie's post: I am going to "decorate" it with dust and mud from a light ride the day before, just clean my drive train afterwards, taking care not to wash any mud of the bike!! To score extra points, I'm going to ride in my baggies too. \ I must admit that road tyres/ slicks would have been nice, but due to tubeless setup that would be a bit of an expensive exercise. Knobblies gives you the added benefit of passing the road bikes on the dirt as well
  12. Road bikes like that will even make true mtb'ers drool.....awesome bike
  13. Please do? must I send my email addy via pm? Think the longer rides will be more toward end of Sept and Oct, But I should be up to speed by then? Dont you think its a good idea to do all 94.7 training off road and then shooting the breeze on the day?

Janee, laat ek dit nou duidelik stel, die Bulls het hulle g@tte gesien.... 6-0! Dit maak seer, bitter seer, but if they dont deserve to win, they shouldnt.
  15. Would you be so kind to drop me a pm when the rides are "due"? I just need to get back into things, would it be a good idea? Moving house in the next 5 and half weeks, but wasnt I a clever boy in sharing my training plans with the wife? It should still be ok to seriously rev it up in October for 94.7, shouldnt it? Isnt it always always good to hear that good people are well?? Even if its only in the "upstairs"?
  16. Yep, can it get any better? Maybe a whole weekend of riding will be better? Wouldnt it be foolish to enter the 94.7 and do nothing? Why is Mons not doing K2C anymore? Are you doing well at least?
  17. Can you guys believe how good it feels after a weekend of training? Would it be an over statement if I say I did an awesome 2 hour ride on Saturday, 45min stepper session on Sunday after a month of doing zero anything??????
  18. Here's another attempt at night photography with the same little phone....

After feeling better yesterday and setting everything up for an IDT session tonight after work.,,,,the same old sore throat, ear pain and cough. Been at the dr twice. nothing seems to work. Now WTF should I do

Damn....we were there on Saturday. What an awesome game by the bokke. They can still improve a lot. Fourie du Preez made a huge difference, and the crowd loved him. A bit off topic, but man oh man, it was one of the best sports days for me ever. The vibe in that stadium was amazing
  22. Good to hear! Entered into a business relationship with my man Stan this week
  23. Glad you saw the light. Did a 35km race a while back feeling like yoy are now....and the next day it wasnt pretty at all, and the week after that. Rest, Vit C and get over it
  24. Just not black ones, a certain Hubber's signature says that they are for poor people. Probably why I have black ones just had to chirp u a bit....dont know answer to your question at all
  25. We have a good arrangement at home. My training during the week has to either be before work or after our son is asleep. How, when, where how long I ride/train is my problem. That works for me. I usually know about weekend ride/s the Monday before the time. I discuss it with her, and give an estimate of how long I will be out. Under normal circumstances this means that on a good week I can get an averge of 4 hours in. During the week, I make sure I play my part in the house. Help with dinner and in kitchen when done, get our son ready for bed etc. And after a weekend ride, I normally have to dash through the shower as itis then her turn to do whatever and I want to go with. It's already been mentioned in this thread, BUT: Look at your non-cycling time at home and your relationship with your wife. Decide based on above if she has reason or not Sit down with her and discuss. Make an effort to make her feel special each day, it doesnt have to be big, even something simple as making her coffee in the morning or getting her a packet of Jelly Tots while she is reading at night will do. Make her aware of some events/races that will require more effort from your side. It might sound like effort, but its not, even if you werent cycling, it is needed for a healthy relationship and marriage. and if you really put in some effort, it can even get you more riding time than just 3 hours a week. My wife has NO interest in mtb'ing whatsoever, but I get my time to ride, she buys me bike stuff and supports and understand if I have to put in more time on a weekend ride. But I make sure I do enough during non-riding time to make up for that.
