  1. Yesterday I rode the Spruit for the first time with some new people I met through the Hub etc. It's such an awesome place to ride, it was very busy, for me at least. Some sections were full of runners, people with dogs and mountain bikiers in both directions. If you are unfit as me, huffing and puffing along, there isnt much time to greet or return any greetings dodging all the traffic. in the one section a single rider told our group (we were about 10-12?) "guys, please keep left" this was where there only was one track. Surely if u are by yourself and see a posse of 10 riders coming towards you, you will keep left and not expect them to? Other than that, had a great time and will be back for sure
  2. In for the 60km as well....dunno if I'll survive after this weekdns rides though! Did the 30km in the first race this year. Not very hilly and so on, nice singletrack not too technical. The faster guys can really give it horns here. For the 60km from what a friend told me its about 600m of climb, and the route is a double loop as far as i know There seem to be 160 something entries for the 60Km and 144 for the 30km. Busy. Try and get there a bit early, so u can start towards front. IN that 30km I did we started rigtht at the back and the first 14km was lots of stop...walk...start again type stuff But nice, race, nice venue, nice vibe see u there
  3. I used to use squirt. At the LBS I bought my new mtb, the workshop manager uses RedHot chain lube. Its an aerosol lube, on my second can, very happy so far, used it in wet and dry conditions without any hassles. Cleaning is just as easy, Redhot chain and cassette cleaner, spray on, wait, rinse. After that I run my bike's chain through the chain cleaner gadget. Easy peasy
  4. Very true.....
  5. Thanks for the cool pics Nathrix....
  6. And its not as if they drafted behind 36One the whole day...pffft
  7. 360Life has their own strategy and plans obviously. What purpose would it serve if they attack whenever Burry expects them to? Duh....I think Burry (although a super mountain biker) needs a bit of PR training or an agent that checks statements and comments from the man before being made public. Anyways, back to stage 4....the more 360Life is cheesed off, the better they ride, so watch out for them today!
  8. OK, back to work guys!!!
  9. 36ONE Songo 1st. 360Life 2nd.....whatta stage....well done guys!!
  10. My initial thoughts before the disasterous 1st stage were that 360Life and 36One Songo are two very evenly matched teams, and that there will only be seconds in it at the end.
  11. Viva my boys, Viva!! Following Kevin on twitter and its amazing to see the regardless of the tought time they're having, he still finds time to make a joke or two. He loves golf and said that today's stage is like a par 5 stroke 1, gonna need the big stick! But eish, today and tomorrow is gonna be equally tough, tomorrow's stage is 2600m of climbing over a shorter distance!
  12. Good to see I'm not the only one doing what I do. Bought a little bmx type bike for my son for Xmas. He turned 3 in Feb this year. He didnt want to have anything to do with it for a while. Then we dusted off his old trike, and we started going for a "ride" each day of the week since beginning of this month. In the complex where we stay there is a slight downward slope and he pedals all the way down to our house. After a while he said he wants to try out the BMX'ie. Like Tumbleweed said, he also does that half pedal kinda thing now. But thats a nice improvement from where we started and he enjoys it so much. Dont think it would be long before we can take those side wheels off...
  13. yeah, while the pros have my respect for racing stages like the one today, its the last 50% of the pack that really deserves some respect. They're what the Epic is all about
  14. Either way, I still use it as my kickstart mornings lasting energy on the go shake. three heaped table spoons, 250ml low fat milk and serving dietry fibre. quick, easy and healthy
  15. Nah, just funny looking at the whole 26 vs 29 debate etc etc I personally dont care what mtb's the guys are riding, just as long as they are out on the trails
  16. 29-ers are so gay......
  17. tweet from Kevin Evans "Right, time to initiate plan B". They certainly havent given up yet
  18. abouty 24min behind,...oi oi oi
  19. That I'm very well aware of, just wanna see them winning the Epic for once geez 360 life came in at 11:58:48. Tough day in the saddle.
  20. Maybe/maybe not, but they work and train pretty damn hard
  21. If we could make our own luck Kevin and Dave would win each time they raced the Epic or any other race for that matter. They know what is at stake, they will not choose kuk equipment just to save weight. Its just plain bad luck. But its early days still, so enough of this moaning and groaning, and lets support them more than ever
  22. Yep, agree. BUT it's only day 1, they are not going to give up easily, that's for sure. Still hope!!
  23. Very true words, I loathe running, but it has improved my riding, so I wont stop. Maybe one day I'll like it again
