  1. I've been riding dual suspensions for over 5 years now and I've only had a problem on one occasion so I tend to agree with D-R.
  2. I had a look at this bike it looks great and according to what mandible has just said above it should be a good bike any opinions ont his thread and is the R 3800.00 worht the bike and the fact it has been on the site since August ???? isnt that a long time to be for sale especially at this time of year every one get all amped to cycle the spring and summer It was posted today and not in August. Looks like a good bike for adventure racing. Give it a test ride and see if the size is correct.
  3. you do know that i'm biting my tongue here? HR' date=' you won't have a repeat of my bike bracket performance at Crater Cruise again as I now have a fancy bike rack on which my bike can stand. No bracket necessary Mine is designed to be ridden down hills.
  4. If you are going to take part in a few adventure races then I would recommend a hardtail and not a dual suspension unless you do the very long adventure races. It is much easier for your seconders to load a hardtail onto a bike rack than it is to load a dual suspension as a dual requires a fancy bracket to be able to fit onto most racks. For hike-a-bike sections a hardtail is usually much easier to carry. A dual suspension often has a shock positioned under the top bar and you can't carry it comfortably. A hardtail usually weighs less than a dual too. Mandibles2008-09-09 06:18:12
  5. Thanks Tridude. I'm in the process of adding some bling to my mtb and brake levers are on my shopping list.
  6. Roughly what did they cost you?
  7. Chain Reaction Cycles. You can get them for various brake makes including Avids. Price quoted is R749. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Brands.aspx?BrandID=639 The distributor in SA is apparently Rush Sports (www.rushsports.co.za) but I don't know what their price is. If you find out, please let me know.Mandibles2008-09-09 03:19:26
  8. The lettering appears to be a layer on top of the anodizing. Thanks for the help. Will give them a call today.
  9. Thanks Mampara. The frame is anodized Do you know whether lettering can be touched up on an anodized frame? It has started to rub off.
  10. 11-12 April. Looks like it is Easter weekend. Yippee! I'll definitely be down there to watch it.
  11. Does anyone know if Cycleart does paint touch-ups or only full resprays? My bike has some minor scratchmarks that I want removed but I don't want the entire bike resprayed.
  12. Have just had my Hub kit hand-delivered to me. Fits perfectly. Woohoo! Thanks Wolverine. You're a star
  13. My neighbour got an sms an hour ago from her kids in Cape Town to say that their car has just been washed away by the floods.
  14. I got an entry: Team number 1001
  15. Thanks for the offer Nancy, but I'm planning on being fitter so hopefully it won't hurt as much. It is a 4.9% gradient for the last km of the race. Come on 4eyes! It is an awesome race and well worth it!Mandibles2008-08-08 13:35:44
  16. I'm prepared to pay more than R6450 if you convince them to take out the last 1km of tar. That hill is a killer!
  17. It is actually a 24% increase as the entry fee is R6450.
  18. Agreed ND. The only complaint I have is that they posted the entry fee and then changed it overnight. I need to inform my teammate of the costs and it makes it hard to do so if they potentially keep changing the cost. I received the official email stating the cost a short while ago so I doubt whether it will change before Monday. By the way...my teammate's bike did cost him less than R5000 and I hope he doesn't chicken out when I tell him what the entry fee. He is new to cycling and doesn't even own a cycling top etc so he has more race-related expenses than most of the entrants. Sani2C is still worth the money for me.
  19. I've just been on the Sani2C website to check something and see that the entry fee is now listed as R6450 per team!?!?! Who knows what it will be when entries open on Monday.... Mandibles2008-08-08 08:33:08
  20. 500 teams i.e. 1000 people in the adventure and another 1000 in the race that's R320000. not bad 1000 teams at R6400 per team = R6 400 000
  21. 2000 riders plus 200 supporters who also pay.
  22. The organisers told me per email a few weeks back to expect a 10% increase. This is almost a 20% increase. Oh well...it's not going to stop me from entering though.
  23. The entry fee has been announced - R6400 per team.

I was told "Work on R5200/team this year + 10%" by the organiser.
