  1. I got an entry: Team number 1001
  2. Thanks for the offer Nancy, but I'm planning on being fitter so hopefully it won't hurt as much. It is a 4.9% gradient for the last km of the race. Come on 4eyes! It is an awesome race and well worth it!Mandibles2008-08-08 13:35:44
  3. I'm prepared to pay more than R6450 if you convince them to take out the last 1km of tar. That hill is a killer!
  4. It is actually a 24% increase as the entry fee is R6450.
  5. Agreed ND. The only complaint I have is that they posted the entry fee and then changed it overnight. I need to inform my teammate of the costs and it makes it hard to do so if they potentially keep changing the cost. I received the official email stating the cost a short while ago so I doubt whether it will change before Monday. By the way...my teammate's bike did cost him less than R5000 and I hope he doesn't chicken out when I tell him what the entry fee. He is new to cycling and doesn't even own a cycling top etc so he has more race-related expenses than most of the entrants. Sani2C is still worth the money for me.
  6. I've just been on the Sani2C website to check something and see that the entry fee is now listed as R6450 per team!?!?! Who knows what it will be when entries open on Monday.... Mandibles2008-08-08 08:33:08
  7. 500 teams i.e. 1000 people in the adventure and another 1000 in the race that's R320000. not bad 1000 teams at R6400 per team = R6 400 000
  8. 2000 riders plus 200 supporters who also pay.
  9. The organisers told me per email a few weeks back to expect a 10% increase. This is almost a 20% increase. Oh well...it's not going to stop me from entering though.
  10. The entry fee has been announced - R6400 per team.

    SANI2C DVD

I was told "Work on R5200/team this year + 10%" by the organiser.
  12. I dont think a list of names should be published. Not everyone is willing or able to make a contribution and by providing a list you will be able to figure out who has not yet made contributions. On a similar note, I personally don't like making my donations to any charities/worthy causes known to others as I feel it is a private matter between me and the recipients but I guess not everyone feels the way I do. Shaun has been acknowledging the receipt of proof of payments so you will know whether your contribution has been received or not. Thanks Shaun, bet you've been kept very busy by this worthy cause!
  13. Fire is selling Rocket Compression Garments according to this post of hers: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=28384&PN=1
  14. I asked at the entrance gate this afternoon and the fees will apparently be R18-50 from next month onwards. Not too big an increase (up R1-40)and at least the silly 10c has now been rounded up to 50c. Yay!
  15. Deal, next Groenies ride it is then.
  16. My response was still related to Groenkloof as well. Hr's subsequent posting wasn't. How about I buy you a beer and we forget about the hijacking?
  17. No, I didn't. HR started the hijacking Now he owes me even more beer!
  18. Crossroads Hotel in Hilton stocks Notties beer. "The Beer Route": http://beer.kzn.org.za/beer/index.html PS: I think we should start a separate thread under Chit Chat for our Midlands Pub Crawl Tour before Admin reprimands us for hijacking.Mandibles2008-06-24 04:08:12
  19. [quote name=holy roller i sense a midlands pub crawl coming on? mandibles' date=' your dad is truly my hero![/quote] A Midlands pub crawl is an excellent idea! It is awesome riding around that area. We could easily manage Rawdons, the Bierfassel and Notties in a day and there are excellent B'n Bs in the area. The smaller beer bottles fit into the water bottle cages perfectly too so we don't have to worry about staying hydrated between venues.
  20. Wish I was as good at testing beer as my dad was. You could give him a beer from anywhere in the country and he would be able to tell you at which brewery it was brewed purely by tasting it! This thread is bringing back lots of memories for me. My first ever cycle race was at Groenkloof only a week after I bought my first bike. The race also marked the official opening of Groenkloof. It looked very different in those days. The entire area was one big forest and there weren't any animals. They have done a tremendous amount of work to return the area to its former habitat and it will always be one of my favourite places to ride. Anyway...think I've done enough reminiscing and hijacking of this thread
  21. Any of those will do, thanks What you probably don't know Wolfie is that it was my late father who started up the Nottingham Road Brewing Company. He worked at SAB for about 30 years and then started up the brewery at Rawdons. At one stage he was rated as one of the world's best beer testers (tough job ). I think I was born to drink beer
  22. can we sort this out over a pint of pickled pig perhaps? We most definitely can. Excellent idea!
  23. A monthly ticket costs R136.80. It is the equivalent of 8 single-entry tickets. HR! Watch out! I WILL take revenge when you least expect it Mandibles2008-06-24 01:33:59
  24. I bought a monthly entry ticket to Groenkloof yesterday and was told that the fees are going to be increased next month. Make sure that you arrive there with some extra cash to cover the increase.Mandibles2008-06-24 09:28:27
