  1. Is this the same spec as the one you're interested in? Bikes are sometimes specced slightly differently in SA. http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-AU/bikes/mountain/1131/28948/ sizeXS:14, S:16, M:18, L:20, XL:22user coloursClay/Black + Black/CharcoalframeALUXX FluidFormed? alloy disc w/low stand-overforkRockshox Dart 2 100mm w/Turnkey Lockout & custom spring raterear derailleurSRAM X-7 9 speedfront derailleurShimano Deore 34.9shiftersSRAM X-7 27 speed trigger shifterscranksetShimano Deore class 9 speed 22x32x44T w/Octalinkbottom bracketShimano Octalink splinedshift/chain guide chainShimano HG73 9 speedcassetteSRAM PG950 9 speed 11-34TbrakesShimano M485 hydraulic w/6" centre-lock rotorsbrake leversShimano M485 hydraulichubsShimano RM65 9sp, QR, cassette discrimsAlloy double wall disc 26" x 32Hspokes14G stainless blacktyresHutchinson Scorpion 26 x 2.0"pedalsAlloy with clips and strapsh.bar/stemRaceface Ride XC low rise/Raceface Ride XCseat postRaceface Ride XC 30.9saddleSDG Bel AirgripsGiant kratonextras
  2. Gila, I've PM'd you the info.
  3. With a name like Thornman it's no wonder you puncture so often.
  4. The Bekker Bundu Bash was today.
  5. Why would a pic of him make me blush? Let me ask for his permission first. The photos may be copyrighted to some hunk magazines already.
  6. I don't think I should say as it might make him blush He'd make an excellent finance minister. All the budget money will be used for cycling and women
  7. DR, I think David#7 is very fast, very handsome and should be president but it only allowed me to vote for one of the above
  8. I've got the Pedro's Brush Kit and I recommend it highly.
  9. David#7, is this the track? (GPS coordinates bottom left). If yes, do you have any idea what the horizontal lines across the field are?
  10. It is designed to replace LX and Hone. Here's some reviews on it. http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/shimanos-new-slx-groupset-14555 http://bikemag.com/news/freshproduce/shimano_slx_preview/
  11. It's a mountain bike and scratches are inevitable. I wouldn't bother fixing it.
  12. thinking - who me - no' date=' i cant think - i'm 2 bloody stupid but shoot away, whats the diff between full suss an xcountry[/quote'] There's only a difference between AM and XC that I know of. Yikes! Do you actually ride such a setup??
  13. I always thought there was a difference. To me a dual suspension is a "soft tail". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_suspension "The Soft Tail (also Softail) relies on the flexing of the rear triangle and a rear shock or elastomer placed in line with the seat stays. Soft tails are a variation of the original Amp Research Mac-Strut design (technically a 3 bar suspension design). Soft tails have no moving parts, besides the shock/elastomer, making it extremely simple. It maintains pedaling efficiency and power delivery because of the solid chainstays. They tend to be extremely light compared to other rear suspension types. Soft tails are out of favor now because of the limited rear axle travel of these designs - typically around 1 inch. Some examples include the Trek STP Moots YBB."
  14. It is interesting to hear how the racing scene works on that side of the world. That's quite a ride you wrote about on the link! Thanks for sharing it with us Torsten.
  15. It would be interesting to know how much of his annual salary he has just spent on his new bike. If he clears over 50K per month then it isn't that big an expense to him. I'm sure a few of us have spent more than a month or two's earnings on our bikes. I know I'm guilty of that
  16. http://www.iceid.co.za/ I've also had excellent service from them in the past.
  17. D-R, if you're referring to my canoe rack then it is actually a Thule rack that did not really "holdfast" The main bars are Thule and it is only the canoe wedges that are Holdfast. In defence of both companies though, the rack works perfectly on the car it was made for and it is only when we tried to make it fit your bakkie that it didn't work so well. I've had a Holdfast bike rack in the past (hang-on) and now have the Thule Ride-On. Both Thule and Holdfast are good in my opinion. The Ride-On is one of the best cycling purchases I've ever made.

  19. Doesn't it get in the way when you sit back off the saddle for a dropoff? Can you post a pic for us please. The only ones I've seen are two bottle holders that would definitely be in the way when out of the saddle as they are to the side of the saddle and not behind it. My one and only bottle holder is underneath the bottom tube.
  20. Thanks. I'll chat to him about it. I know he used to stock my brand of mtb so he might have an idea of the paint finish etc.
