    Sani Pass

The decent is harsh on your wrists. Well, it was harsh on mine. Otherwise superb, especially when you get to the pub.
  2. I'd also fall about there somewhere .. just below average. But I am happy enough with fun. Currently, my Niner is fun
  3. All I wanted to do was to ride a bicycle. Any bike. Now it has become so complicated, I can't sleep at night. Decisions about bike equipment haunt me. Have I made the right choice? Should I sell it all and start again? I am in despair here
  4. That link doesn't work for me. However, www.cyclecore.com did work, but not sure if that is still the site you had in mind?
  5. My comment was tongue in cheek
  6. So does the least fit person get the most cardio training? Since they consistently maintain a higher heart rate than a fit person over a long duration of time. Not comparing apples with apples, I know
  7. You obviously haven't had that "in the zone" feeling that only comes from running
  8. Based on those stats I would say that you are (or at least, could be) a runner. Obviously more training will help And with so little prior conditioning, yes, running at 4:30 or doing a 1:40 half is going to be at LT. But that will improve over time if you ran more ... which sounds like it won't really happen.
  9. Of course, if you are naturally a better runner than cyclist, then it will probably hold true that cycling gives you a better cardio workout. The most correct answer would be that in whichever discipline your heart rate is higher on average, is giving you a better cardio workout. For most, that would be running when compared to cycling.
  10. I would agree with the sentiment expressed earlier that a 21km run is more or less comparable to a 100km ride. Perhaps, for me, it is 21km run = 90km cycle or so. But that is subjective experience.
  11. A comparison of average HR on cycle versus run should clarify this is simply not true. My statement itself is very simplified and laden with some assumptions, but on average, I think it holds.
  12. Yeah, your running shoes will be in the transition area, same as your bike. You put them on for the run and leave the cycling shoes there. You'll have a little spot in the transition area where you can keep all your crap ... I mean kit, and gear and stuff ;-)
  13. Indeed
  14. This is a good suggestion. I would try running with cycling shorts first before spending money. Might be slightly uncomfortable with the padding, but nothing that hasn't been done before - especially if the run is not that long. Like HEman said, the tri shorts are not cheap. So this can work while you make up your mind about the sport.
  15. I would suggest a pair of tri shorts yes. They are like cycling shorts, but with slightly less padding so that you can run in them. Else you could change gear, but bear in mind that it will probably be in a public open space. Yes, the bikes are located together in the transition area. The second run is usually fun
  16. I have tried the wide handlebar thing, really I have, but I want the narrower ones back. On long rides it kills me. Maybe I should give it another year?
  17. Cool, thanks. Will look 'em up.
  18. Does anyone know where to get Serfas Drifter MTB tyres in SA?
  19. Thanks for the info. That is a long time
  20. Closed again. Will phone today to hear when it will re-open. Unless anyone else knows already?
