  1. The machine is R19k...
  2. Saw a demo of this biscuit jointer the other day, really nice piece of kit if you're building cabinets. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eTQOroiym2E
  3. The weekend project this weekend wasn't too exciting, built 2 more picnic tables for the local tennis club. Bought this little tool a while ago, you set the depth you want the head to stop at, makes screwing slats down a lot simpler.
  4. Huh? I thought Kreols were those vrot fishy smelling chips?
  5. Sailing into the sunset!
  6. Weekend project! No project this coming weekend, going away, going to sit at the water, maybe catch some fish, drink beer and take a picture to post on the Braai thread!
  7. Can not have too many clamps, and variety. What I have also found useful though (particularly for big pieces like your workbench) is using ratchet straps. Just be sure to place a piece of scrap wood between your workpiece and the strap, as the straps pull into the wood on the edges.
  8. Have to disagree on this one (and you were there for my journey), I had a Niner "Licorice" steel fork on my bike, which was later replaced with a Ritchey Carbon Pro, though the steel fork had better compliance (and therefore comfort) on small bumps, it was quite "vague" for lack of a better description in the corners, the carbon fork definitely sharpened up the handling, making the front end a lot more predictable, though at the expense of comfort. But it's a moot point, as the OP has gone with squish, and gears. Nice looking build OP [emoji1303]
  9. My weekend project, it is apparently called a Montessori Bed, for when the little people leave the cot and go to bed, not far to fall, and the frame lets them feel secure, or so they say. The guy I built it for wanted it to fit a 3/4 mattress, so it's quite big. Now the mommy can dress it up with fairy lights and lace curtains.
  10. Some inspiration for Fire Engine, beautifully built R100 Beemer
  11. Mattresses have been ordered, the seamstress is just not as efficient as the carpenter... [emoji12]
  12. My weekend project, beds on wheels for 2 Great Danes, they're 1000mm x 800mm, but still seem too small, though that's what the owner ordered. With my poser models... With the new owner, apparently she has arthritis in her legs, so struggles to get around, hence the need for wheels. On a separate note, my headboard project also saw some progress, been treated, light fittings have been bought, hoping to finish it this evening.
  13. This is nice for workshops where space is at a premium:
  14. Looks very nice, what is your plan for the battery? Mine is under the hump, so my hump is quite big.
  15. CNC is on my wishlist, but not in my budget, all the Supawood was bought at the local stationery shop, the bigger X's were crosses that I cut down, the O's were coasters that I cut the centers out and the small ones are letters bought and used as is.
  16. I have a few of those 6 month projects hanging, especially those where I have an idea but no clear picture in my mind. Those where I know what I need to do get done relatively quickly, but even then, it sometimes takes longer than it should.
  17. I helped my folks move this weekend, so woodwork time was limited, only managed a small weekend project: My Mrs then said that not everyone has hands like spades, so I made a smaller set:
  18. It's 2440 x 620 (standard plywood sheet ripped in half on the length. Queen size bed is 1530 wide, so this will cover the bed and leave just enough room for the 2 pedestals. The plan is to fit a light sconce on the board,on each side, so that the bedside lamps do not stand in the pedestals, and I'm considering fitting a USB outlet too, for phone chargers, though one shouldn't sleep with your phone next to the bed...
  19. Trimmed
  20. Weekend project didn't get too far, life happened. Did start on a project I've been wanting to tackle for some time now, headboard for the spare bedroom, in anticipation of my mother in laws imminent arrival... Nice use of scrap timber. Tomorrow I'll trim the edges on the panel saw, then it can be finished.
  21. The steel wool dissolves/corrodes and makes for a rather funky smelling mix. I top it up with vinegar every now and add steelwool. When I first made the mix, nothing really happened, I then read somewhere to add some bleach to kickstart the reaction, about a cap full did the trick. Brush it on to wet the wood, leave it in the sun to dry, light sanding, and it's ready for your favorite sealer.
  22. "Aged" it with a mix of steel wool, vinegar and a dash of bleach that I keep in the garage, top it up every now and then. Brush on, leave to dry in the sun, light sanding and then clear Woodoc 10 to seal. I like the finish that it gives, and it's cheap.
  23. My weekend project, specials board for the tennis club:
