  1. Cooked up the leftovers from last nights braai for breakfast this morning! With what’s becoming a New Years tradition, Zoerdoeff and Sprite.
  2. Boil them in a pot till cooked, then roll them in a 50/50 mix of mayo and sweet chilli sauce, spice with your favorite braai spice and “brown” them on the braai, turning regularly to avoid burning....
  3. I have a job to do that I’ve been putting off as I’ve been unsure of how I’m going to cut it, seems my only option is to do it by hand, as I don’t have access to a saw that can cut angles in the size that needs to be cut. Will screw a cutting guide to the wood, and then start cutting, slowly and carefully... That’s my Christmas break project. Merry Christmas to all on this thread, thanks for the inspiration and motivation throughout the year, you’ve all inspired me to try things that I may not have tackled in the past, and it’s been very rewarding!
  4. Practicing making joints...
  5. I have a “MADE IN JTALY” too...

  7. Reminds me of BDF, he had a nice Somec.
  8. My next project. Iroko that’s been planed, 70mm x 190mm. Must admit, I’m a little scared to cut it, if I mess it up, it’s expensive to replace. Building a big X that will make a leg for a glass top, for an entrance hall table.
  9. Honestly, the people at the SPCA have no sense of humour. Getting all sticky with all sorts of questions when one wants to adopt a turkey this time of the year.....????
  10. Well done Taito!
  11. Well done Vetties, I was bleak when you won “my” prize, but you did it justice, and have done your prize sponsors, and more importantly yourself proud! [emoji898]????[emoji471][emoji482]
  12. PM sent...
  13. Yup, and we’re a wood company, the person who had the carpets put in way back when should have known better. The second and third coats went on today, looking forward to Monday to see how it’s turned out.
  14. In the week I got my maintenance guys to take up some carpets in an office at work, as they needed replacing. Plan was to put in some of those rubber tiles (office is used as a printer/fax room and stationery store). Turns out the wooden floor planks under the carpet came out really nicely after the contact adhesive was cleaned off with thinners, and then sanded. Makes no sense why people would want to cover such beautiful wood with shitty carpet.
  15. Weekend project, made a Cornhole set and a noughts and crosses set, which are going to Zim for one of my wife’s customers, along with a Jenga set. Bit of time pressure, the driver is collecting tomorrow morning, but got it all done.
  16. Came across this today, Todd Hoffman of Gold Rush (Discovery Channel) fame. https://youtu.be/X_7zghWA6QY I know, Disturbed did the best cover of this song ever, but Todd’s version gave me goosebumps too!
  17. Had the privilege to visit Kuni's workshop and see some of the pieces they have built. The attention to detail and love for the timber is amazing. Check out their website: http://www.kuni-collection.com
  18. Weekend project 2: Refinished a top I made a while ago, for a "cocktail table" I'm busy with. Frame is done, will probably powder coat it, and then can a few sundowners on it.
  19. Weekend project 1: Had some time to finish and hang the headboard I started some time ago.
  20. What did you have on the road bike before, a rough plank? I have that saddle on my track bike, it's quite hard!
  21. Thanks, considering the material is 70mm x 70mm, cut on a Ryobi table saw with the blade on max extension, the joints are not bad. I clamp the wood to the guide, and then cut carefully... Here's the zoomed out pic:
  22. Weekend project, another Montessori bed, spent time on the 45's for the joints, happy with how they came out, #nofiller
  23. No idea what it's being used for, it's for a customer in Mozambique.
  24. Some timber we were planing today, before ripping it into strips, I was not happy that we had to rip these nice wide planks (they average 285mm wide) to 50mm strips. 10 Cubes of White Oak, beautiful planks!
  25. Not following? It has a "clutch" which disengages the bit when the required depth is reached. https://youtu.be/n1NHA97dA3E
