  1. My disc Canyon Aeroad weighs in at 7.35kg with EVERYTHING already bolted and strapped on. Pedals, 2 bottle cages , Garmin mount and sensors. And that's with Zipp's relatively heavy 404's. That bike can go sub 6.8kg with a change of wheels. Add lighter pedals and other weenie bits (there are lighter tyres out there) and it'll klap 6.5 on the scale - no problem.
  2. Some thoughts 1.Yes, you don't NEED disc brakes 2.Discs are absolutely next level on a road bike 3.You will most likely suffer more when selling a rim brake bike on in a couple e of years as - most riders will be looking to get disc - depending on the wheels used and sold, I'd be veru weary to buy a 2nd bike with carbon rim brake wheels 4. It will be a while still, but the time will come when upgrade options will become fewer for rim brake bikes and wheels
  3. Carbon railed saddles need a different clamp From Specialized's site: "Oversized 7x9mm carbon rails are not compatible with seatposts equipped with side-load clamp mechanisms for 7mm round rails"

    Yeah, quite enjoyed that.
  6. I've been over there a couple of times in bakkie and on a motorbike and based on that I would say gravelable. Put differently if someone had to invite me today I'd saddle up a gravel bike

Quite interesting development in WEC with their 2020 rules. Instead of writing a thousand rules with another thousand technical directives, they are aiming to limit aero by simply putting drag and downforce figures down. https://www.motorsport.com/wec/news/aero-rules-key-to-containing-2020-costs-1046237/?s=1 Manufacturers and constructors building cars to the rules announced on Friday in Le Mans for the so-far unnamed top class of the WEC from the 2020/21 season will be given downforce and drag targets that they cannot exceed. Toyota Motorsport GmbH technical director Pascal Vasselon described the principle behind the aero rules as an "interesting innovation". "Instead of micro-managing the regulations by banning this winglet or that one, where the regulatory body is always behind the engineers, here the actual aerodynamic performance is set," he said. "That is the best way to manage things. "The target is to set the aero efficiency at an achievable level, not at a level that requires 30 people over three years – it should be achievable by a team with a few good CFD [computational fluid dynamics] engineers."
  8. Haha, I'd say there's at least a 62% chance he's a scammer. OR he doesn't like his stupid-face cousin and the surprise is the fact that the cousin will be expecting a kick-ass new bike when in fact what he will getting is a busted bike that's going to cost him R15k to get going. Classic burn
  9. On Wednesday it took me up the road to Zevenwacht Wine Estate
  10. Hi, and welcome to Bike Hub As an avid Ibis supporter... Ibis tends to design their bikes with a light bias towards getting around on it. So not crazy DH orientated. The HD, SL-R, Ripley all got great reviews for their pedaling and all-round ability which I think is perfect for local conditions. I don't think the HD 4 is THAT much bike, especially when compared to other bikes with the same travel that are slacker and aimed at gnarlier riding. You could (and most likely should) consider a Ripley or even Mojo3. From what you've described I reckon those two will be closer to what you want and both will be able to to romp in the miles. The Mojo3 is a GREAT bike.

Agreed. And the compounds should almost guarantee two stops. 1 Stopping leaves little room for killer alternative strategy. Not enough variation. May as well give them all one compound to run that will last half a race distance.

Let's see. Will be interesting to see what happens with their Aston deal. Also with Aston threatening to enter the game in 2021 there could be another change. I hope it works out for them - I'd love to see Ric a WDC and it's great having 3 teams fighting for wins
  13. Not really a stock colour. As mentioned above I lucked into this one in their Factory Outlet section. In my size, color and spec! It was like browsing a website at the end of a rainbow. Factory Outlet: https://www.canyon.com/en-za/factory-outlet/category.html#category=road-bikes Another one of mine https://www.canyon.com/en-za/factory-outlet/category.html#category=road-bikes&id=23769 And f you prefer Ultimate over Aeroad https://www.canyon.com/en-za/factory-outlet/category.html#category=road-bikes
  14. I could joke and say I ride like a girl, but let's be honest, there are many MANY girls who will crush me on a bike. I went for those colors cause I liked them since the day they were launched. Have been looking at getting a road bike after selling my Venge Elite and jumped at the opportunity when I saw this one in their Factory Outlet. Difference in geo is zero, only difference is saddle, bar width, stem length, crank arm length and few fibres less in the layup. In terms of setup: the 172.5mm crank arm length is what I ride so that worked out well, and the shorter stem length gives me the same reach as I had on the S-Works Venge Vias I reviewed which was a purrrrrfect fit. I'll see how it goes before swapping out to wider bars Saddle I was always going to change to a Spez Power saddle. So I got a near damn perfect setup / geo bike with my favourite drivetrain and killer wheels in the colors I've been dreaming about since I was a little girl boy. Perfect.
  15. Canyon SRAM Racing team bike - 2017 colors. Yes, that is from their woman's range

  18. I'm on my 3rd custom Bogus bike. I still regret selling the first two as they were special bikes, but mostly of how unique and beautiful they were. If you do just a paint job then someone with a can should be able to sort you out, what Bogus does is full custom spray jobs with incredible detail and precision. Dream, he'll do it. Yes, turn around time isn't 3 days, but chat to him, book your bike in and set a mutually agreed deadline and you won't have issues. Keep in mind he does everything himself and by hand. That takes time. To add: all logos, decals and fancy bits are also custom sprayed. No base color with vinyl on top that will peel over time. We are talking bespoke, detailed, custom artwork here. If R4k is too much, or you can't wait then that's all good. **** Only one bike did I have a chip or three, but all of those were due to me (baby seat) or transporting the bike in the back of a vehicle with several other bikes. Even more amazing is the fact that Bogus was able to fix the chips without so much as a hint of where he worked. I don't know how he does it!
  19. Let's get a pick of said Knolly out there...
  20. Like him too. Was a super cool guy to interview. Very humble and approachable. Lots to come from him. Fact that he can converse and engage will only help the commercial side of his career.
  21. Anton from Bogus Designs Read here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/177062-custom-sprayed-bike-bogus-designs/ Then do a search on Bike Hub - the man is a legend.
