  1. Heading back to Plett for this weekend for a week and am booking some time out from fam' activities to head to to the park!
  2. Just tweaked it a bit.
  3. Gutter riding on the Paterberg, fairly pointless actually having cobbled climbs when no one wants or even actually rides them. 2 x QS in the 4 man break and Stybar / Terpstra trying to bridge the gap... don't they remember from last year what happens when they have a pack of them in a move??
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAOZ71zwTzI
  5. Big break happening @ 28s with 48km. Among the leaders are: Gilbert, Lampaert, Wallays, Breschel, Lampaert, Hayman, Vliegen, Teuns, Lemoine, Groenewegen, Marcato.
  6. Ohhhh.... Andy Schlek. Well that's a big win. Should gone for Jen's, at least he has fans.
  7. I didn't expect to read this when I came back to this thread. I hadn't checked in for a few days and was expecting success news of the operations, some new news and and info. I didn't expect this. It's all been said so many times in so few pages over the last 24hrs. So sad for all, condolences and prayers to Kevin and family, thoughts go to all who knew Barry or knew of Barry. I wish I hadn't chose this year to pass the Argus up as that would be a fitting tribute. Shame man, will miss you here and the chats we had. You touched so many people, thanks for coming and sorry you had to go. RIP Tumbles.
  8. So it's R375 entry plus R100 for the tag and 4 stages for the first one?
  9. Is it only R125? For some reason I've always thought it was a lot more than that. Normally I just get peeps to bring it over or I buy big and get the free shipping. Nuts.
  10. I got mine @ CRC for 152 of your ZA ronts. They also have the ODI lock on's as well for R300 odd but you can get them locally for around R400 anyway. 'This way out' stores can happily order them in for you. I was getting some new rims so just threw them in the order at the same time and now they are being whisked here by the magic of SAPO. Ugg.
  11. Got some Vans waffle.... Wanted the lock on's but it's not the same without the flange. http://www.frenchys-distribution.com/2161-thickbox_default/cult-vans-grips.jpg
  12. I got bored today. Some new hoops for the DeeDar. http://blistergearreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/RI211A12.jpg
  13. Think it works out along these lines. Total Price = ((Item price + duty + 10%) x 14%) + (item + duty) Or TP = (Item price + duty) x 1.154 So for a full bike it's (cost + 15%) x (vat + 10%) = (cost x 1.15) x (14% x 1.1)
  14. Looking to join you guys this year but wanted to check the costs. R375 + R100 for the tag. What's included in that? Just the 4 - 5 sections and the traii fees? Cheers.

    Canyon Bikes

You could use a freight forwarder like Aramex Global shopper. You can set one up (FNB had a promo where you paid no annual fee to set it up and got R200 off you first shipping) and you get an address in a few different countries around the world. You can then send the bike to that address and they send on sorting out shipping taxes etc. You supply / upload the invoice (which you obviously wouldn't alter to reduce the tax because that would be wrong). Not sure if Canyon ship for free in the EU but it might be worth sending the bike to your UK Aramex address and forwarding it from there if it reduces the EU sales tax / germany VAT. I have used it to send a Frame / fork in a standard bike box and it wasn't too bad. Issue you might have is the tax on a whole bike as that is a lot more than parts Maybe ask them to leave off the grips... then it's only parts, not a full bike! Just a thought.
  16. Sheesh.... the is one tough cycling life right there.
  17. Seems like 9 September the U happening on the 20 - 22 Oct. Awesome trails. Just wish we could ride them day to day!
  18. And the single day ride / trail run is on the 9th of September (not 9th of Feb' that is cropping up her on the Hub). Excited to do both this year. Only races of the year that I'll strap a number on for (bar the Argus).
  19. I'm a shade under 80kgs and run both bike (HT and DS) @ 20psi and never had an issue. The HT with 20 wide internal rims occasionally gets a little squirmy on a hard corner but I"m putting that down to the fact it has god awful Nobby Nic 2's with fairly flexi side walls. The 28mm internals on my DS with a Onza Ibex up front and a Spez Slaughter at the back are set and forget perfect. Never bottomed out and never burped so I'm keeping it that way.
  20. No idea what my blood is but I'll pump out as much as I can if it matches. Will test tomorrow at clinic and add to thread... although it might be rejected by tumbles body because it's part pom, part wallaby and 0% springbok! Update... I'm a commoner with O positive sloshing around the veins.
  21. Not trying to start *** but I can't believe that any repeated adverts can possibly annoy the Sh*t out of so many people. It must take about 2 - 4 secs to scan a page and click the next. There are also filters. It's not like they have robbed you of a hour of your life. Seriously, if the ad doesn't appeal too you move on it's not exactly a major hardship. What were you planning on doing with that 2 seconds? Solve the current carnage on our roads? It's a free resource, it's open to everyone. Really are we actually getting a hissy fit over and over again happening because we see adverts on a free site, that 99% of people don't contribute financially to and the advertisers of these *many* adverts have probably boosted through a couple of the monitiezed solutions that The Hub adds for revenue? Honestly I love this site, have had great conversations, met good people, solved problems from advice, bantered and honestly given for nothing for that but sometime the baaahing of the righteously indignant about the smallest issue is beyond a joke.
  22. Feck! They look fresh as a fresh thing on a stick. Bleery nice.
  23. Just saw this. Jeez, Tumbles what the heck!?! Big strongs to you and KMc. Unbelievable. It's always now that is the scariest with burns of that coverage and the first of infection. Holding thumbs and sending thoughts.
  24. Sounds like someone should put pressure on A-Line and Phia to set up another Banshee / Transition Tour. I'm still super keen to see what the Scout is like as well now that Tokai is back open! One super great thing I liked about Transition is they are owned by two really great guys. I emailed them when I was thinking of getting my Smuggler as I had a Transition Bandit that was awesome and wasn't sure why I was going to swap out one 'same kinda bike for another' or if I should have headed towards the Scout / Patrol. I just emailed a few Q's to their general email addy and didn't get a reply for a day or so. Then I got a email from Kyle Young, one of the owners, with a very considered reply and then a follow up a few days later. Then a week or so after the I get a text from Kyle checking to see if I'd got the Smuggler and if i was stoked. For sure it could have been the intern but still a nice touch.
  25. Wow, that is a story. Props for him for sharing so honestly. Cycling seems often to be an escape for many who have issues in life, especially childhood. Maybe it's the fact that to be a success it has to be all encompassing. Maybe it's the almost hypnotic, medative, rhythms and maybe it because if you're angry and fighting against something then you can smash it and smash it until you're spent and it's not finished... you get up and wrestle the gorillla again the next day.
