  1. We have 2 x 4 hour and another 2 hours today, 10hrs in total. Thats without the fact that they normally switch as on 30min late on average, hence another 1.5 hours .... 🤦‍♂️ Luckily solar was good the last 3 days, my batteries are cruising through this, no problem .
  2. "The eThekwini Municipality in KZN experienced severe flood damage earlier this year, therefore their load shedding is largely limited due to major infrastructure repairs and maintenance that is ongoing" This was posted on the Ekurhuleni Ward 106 DA Telegram group as the "excuse" for this 🙈.
  3. Agree 100%, if you have some bucks laying around, now is the time to invest it in your future energy requirements.
  4. Carbon is your friend, not the enemy. As long as you steer clear of cheap China knock-offs, you will be 100% on a carbon frame. Only problem is direct impacts like hitting a rock on the frame, if you avoid those, no problem.
  5. Same here, my system is working sweetly, can even cope with about 3 bad weather days in a row.

So look like he will get a chance to have a crack at the record, nice !
  7. I got 10.8 kWh batteries and thankfully so far I didn't need to use the grid to charge them yet. If the bad weather persist, it might be inevitable though ... 😞

Maybe an un-popular opinion, but I for one would very much like to see Cav get a spot and at least a shot at getting that 35th win in the tour. It would be sad to see him never achieve that ....
  9. The 2 panels is connected to a "Geyser Wise" MPPT controller that feed a dual element in the geyser directly. The dual element can take Eishkom also, if you should need to supplement. Hence, its completely separate to my other panels/inverter/batteries. With some coordination who showers when 🙈, I don't consume any grid on the geyser. On a good son day it even max out at 75 C on the geyser temp.
  10. 👍 that would work perfectly.
  11. Obviously I don't know your needs, but a 2400W inverter seems a bit small for the average house hold. You would need to monitor it very closely not to burn it.
  12. Without solar you can get away with the lead-acid bats to get you through load-shed ONLY. As soon as you add some solar panels, LiFePO4 all the way !!!!
  13. I got 2 x 455W panels dedicated to the geyser, geyser temp is at 52 deg C without using any grid, more than happy with that. Getting decent solar at the moment despite the clouds:
  14. I have 36 on my one bike and 38 x 10-52 on the other. I don't like to spin like crazy, so it work for me. I use the 38 one more for road riding since its a rigid Rapidé. Once I'm lighter/stronger/fitter, will for sure use only 38 on both bikes.
  15. Never tried them but my logic tells me the gain would be marginal. I can make much bigger gains elsewhere, train harder, loose more weight etc ....
  16. Nice install enjoy ! I'm also getting a surplus at the moment, charging the batteries slowly but surely. With 2 bad solar days in a row my batteries are at 38% at the moment because I refuse to charge them with Eksdom ... 🤪🙈
  17. Unfortunately they out of stock at the moment ... 😒
  18. I manually connect the panel as and when needed, placed inside the complex, so, so far so good, not stolen yet ... 🤪.
  19. If you use these, its a straight swap. Granted, a bit expensive compared to the normal gate motor bats, but worth it. I got 2 of these in parallel on our gate motor, we didn't run out of juice yet! https://www.electromannsa.com/products/electromann-lifepo4-lithium-8ah-12-8v-rechargeable-battery?variant=42055397834993 For longer than 4 hour failures I also have a small solar panel with built-in charge controller that I connect, also from Electromann.
  20. That's some expert advice right there, I cant agree with you more. I will only use lead-acid in my car and other non high usage/draining applications. I even installed Li batteries on our complex gate motor and at last we have zero issues with it.
  21. Clearly there are wheel builders AND "wheel builders" .... 🤪😁
  22. Not sure if it is even possible, but, cant you record a ride on the AXS app and get the stats that way?
  23. Im on 67% (of 10.8 kWh), should get me through the night ...
  24. I learnt to wait for it, put it on first and by the time I'm done with mugs, milk, sugar etc, its almost done, so no problem. I cant remember when last we switched the electric kettle on, but it is on standby ... . PS: I normally make coffee on the Delonghi (beans to cup), have to wait similar time for that anyway.
  25. I fitted gas plates more than a year back, will never go back to electric on those, we even use a gas kettle to boil the water for coffee ... .
