  1. Spoke to Brett the vet. He says that they actually first hear about her on the loose three days ago. She is doing well. At the zoo for a few days until her paws heal a bit and she is hydrated.

  9. Hmmmm Interesting. Would never have thought that. Must be female leopard cause those Kalahari toms are the second biggest leopards i have seen. Some big Toms are well over seven foot and 180lbs. The only bigger ones i have seen in Africa are from the Ethiopian highlands. This is my Bible when I travel to a new area. http://books.google.co.za/books/about/The_Behavior_Guide_to_African_Mammals.html?id=g977LsZHpcsC&redir_esc=y
  10. I take back my previous comment you definitely know the difference. Great photos.
  11. Are you sure not mixing up Brown Hyena (Hyena Brunnea) with Spotted Hyena (Crocuta Crocuta). Never seen or heard of a brown hyena showing any dominance over other carnivore especially Leopard. @tumble their social structure varies dependent on their territory. In the Kalahari they have been found in clans of up to 12 animals with a dominate Matriarch or Alpha pair. In the Zambezi Valley where i grew up they are found mostly in pairs or solitary.
  12. Haha luckily they don't have the jaw strength to bite much harder than this kid.
  13. I really hope this story has a happy ending. They are rare and super shy animals. They are completely harmless and have only been known to kill small mammals up to 15% of their own body size. So max would be a spring or scrub hare. Their diet consists of mainly scavenging, small vertebrates and insects. Such beautiful creatures.
  14. the other day at a robot i saw a guy throw his KFC packet out his window. i knew the robot was a long wait so i got out my car and picked up the packet and threw it back threw the open window. man did he get such a freight that he just pulled away. haha. yes i know in retro-spec he could have thought i was a high jacker or something and shoot me, but it was so quick and simple that he had no time to react.
