To be honest I've never had a snakebite puncture on my tube tyres. Fair enough I run them quite hard and also never suffered from lack of traction because of the hard tyres. But then again it is on an SS. So can't gear down and rockcrawl, it's all momentum and traap.

I've been running maxxis cross marks with tubes on my SS for over a year now. ( bought the tyres over the Internet and only realized once they arrive that they were not UST) done all the Nissan trailseekers since September last year, SabieX , countless other races usn, babbas, 24hr, and about 2500km around jhb MTB routes. I run tubes with slime in them usually the kenda ones. I've had about 5 punctures in that time. Will definitely run UST tyres next time but don't see any disadvantage to tubes.
