  1. Welcome to the Hub Ryan. Yet another Rugby player make the transition.
  2. here is a 66km option. you can make it even shorter. http://app.strava.com/activities/121105276
  3. I struggled to find one but i eventually found a 27mm from CRC (itsa not the lightest or name brand but never had an issue since) http://www.chainreac...2258,4294965403
  4. my Pc skills areworst than your google map skills. Here is a link to a strava ride we did out that way. Silverstar casino to magalies Spar and back Via krugersdorp. 95km 1300m, 97% offroad http://app.strava.com/activities/124859265 Here is another option to get to van galaans from Home of the Chicken Pie (Lanseria) 70km 1100m 85% offroad (you can add another 30-50km to ride depending on how much VG you add in) http://app.strava.com/activities/116880439 or slightly easier as you skip concrete slabs http://app.strava.com/activities/107152664
  5. I'm so slow that it takes me a while to ride past and people get a good look at me so I got to look good. Haha
  6. I have to say with my short cage ZEE rear derailer I have never had a chain drop. I am running a standard Zee crankset with a factory 36t chainring. It is NOT a narrow/wide and have had no issues. It's is on a HT which does help though.
  7. I'm running a zee shifter on my zee derailer. It nice and works well. A little bigger and bulkier than a SLX shifter. Performance wise I don't feel a difference from my wife's SLX shifters. Would love to get a XTR shifter just for the slicker look.
  8. give that man a Bells
  9. I would buy a "spruit rats" tee
  10. Great idea
  11. I have played most sports Rugga - is tough on the whole body. When you work during a game it is completely physical and you use every muscle you have. But this is only 40- 70 sec blast max and if you read the game and smart you can rest a lot. Soccer - this is tough on the legs lots of repeated sprints but also only 20-30sec max. It's 85% legs. And you can find some rest The hardest I have ever worked is when some big shot in SA rugby decided he wanted to try and send a SA team to Aus to play Aussie rules. We trained hard and then played against a school side that can across here. F M George. You run as much as soccer and it's as physical (if not a bit tougher, you can get taken out in the air and without the ball) as rugga. Oh an did I mention you play it on a full size cricket field.
  12. Oh no So sorry to hear that. My condolences to the family and friends. I know its doesn't change anything but at least he died doing what he loved.
  13. The problem is the bike is specced with a 26.8mm seatpost but then the seatpost slips all the time so you have to over tighten the seatpost clamp. After a bit of research I found that alot of Peace owners where buying 27mm seatposts. and had know issues. I struggled to find one but i eventually found a 27mm from CRC (itsa not the lightest or name brand but never had an issue since) http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/seatposts?f=2258,4294965403
  14. Exactly how can they charge R500 for merely passing it on to the agent??? disgusting. thank goodness there is not a thing on my bike that i cant fix or service myself.
  15. I agree. I dont find that I'm any slower than my riding mates on their suspended hardtails or dual sus bikes. I have two rigid forks and if you look at my times on some of the rougher downhills in Gauteng, I have a few top 10s, plenty top 20s and i'm always in the top 10% according to a little program that rhymes with palava. haha. Riding a rigid for the last 4 years has taught me to carry speed , read line alot faster and futher out and ride smoother.
  16. And in dry dusty winter conditions the oil turns into a nice squeaky grinding paste. Not that smooth doesnt eventually too but takes alot longer.
  17. It's about R110 at eagle canyon cycles. I will not be using another lube again in the near future. This stuff is great when applied the night before. Used on five 90km+ rides in the last few months and no issues regardless of conditions.
  18. Haha Thanx bud. its that simplicity that I love.
  19. Street thread? not sure i had any to start with. Here is another angle.
  20. Nope that's my December riding buddy. Rudolf.
  21. I see your vassago's wheel trying to "photobomb" the picture.
  22. As Rouxtjie said it was around 10:30ish at the little up as you come off the concrete bridge across the river towards the "Bomb Hole" His excuse was there was plenty of room and yet the poor noob fell over as he pushed past.
  23. Lets just say a guy Club kit should be setting a better example than running red robots, speeding past a serious accident when he saw the paramedics carrying a strecher down the singletrack and then forcing a noob off a tricky piece of singletrack when he can see the we had all stopped to let the Guy ride up comfortably at his own pace. Clearly he thinks he is God's gift to mtb, pity he got overtaken a few 100 meters later by social riders on their SS. Maybe he should rethink his training program. If i was in my club kit I would behave COMPLETELY differently. The Spruit is not your own private race track, you can go fast and be courteous to other users its not that difficult.
  24. My Peace is the love of my life. Got other bikes, had other bikes from a carbon spez to a dual sus and the Peace is always my first choice when I walk into the garage.
