  1. I'm on leave as of 3pm TODAY!!!!! Could be worse, I suppose...
  2. Never left! :cursing: At this stage, I hate people!
  3. Maroon. Good, solid ride.
  4. If those are STX-RC hubs - I had them on my Giant Sedona circa 1999. I still have the hubs and the front and rear derailleurs from that bike. Also my first Alu bike - I was much, much lighter then! NIce post, thanks.
  5. They are....I am in love with Mary
  6. I bought mine as a filler until I got my "dream bike". Didn't take me long to realise that it had become my dream bike. I can finally say that she is complete. I love her exactly as she is now.
  7. Very pretty! Good luck with the sale.
  8. Me likee! Lots! Nice bike!
  9. Good to know. I always drive past the shop when I come up Stockville Rd from Giba. Will drop in and check it out...
  10. I know it isn't, but that is the difference between a bike built to ride everyday and a bike built for one day at a show somewhere - the same could be said for absurd motorcycles built for those bike shows. your bike is not a hand-filed between the thighs of virgins brazed with angels tears masterpiece of invention. i am all for the beauty of utility. there's a certain nobility in that - one that I admire.
  11. like this..... (thanks Morpheus) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/vdubbusrider/misc/3475558586_b0fcceb534.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3448/3209453307_a31112320d.jpg
  12. Finely brazed fillets are a thing of beauty. Clear coating would be awesome. Those joints need to be visible. Duncan MacIntire was a master, they say.
  13. Those shoes are classic. Would love me a pair of Dromarti shoes one day.
  14. shimano Alivio cranks???? seems a strange choice for a 24k gold bike....
  15. The TdF would be absolutely out of the question. But... Why not let her take a bash at it in the smaller races? I would think she could embarrass a few people in the right circumstances. No harm in trying.
  16. He really is very good, isn't he? I like what he does - A LOT
  17. Yeah - that first driveway spin is always a peach if everything goes to plan. We should both assemble on the same day at my place then go for a loop. How's that seat-cluster? You gotta leave that naked and clear-coat it if it is as gorgeous as I hope!
  18. Thanks. Will do.
  19. Yup. Web-wide that seems to be the consensus. The grey panel in the middle bothers me. Was thinking the same blue with a cream panel to hold the decals, which I have also ordered and will be receiving in a day or so. This bike has - more than any project I have undertaken - had me thinking backwards and forwards as to what to do. I'm still vacillating. Period restorations are just not my thing...I want to ride it as much as possible. It must be beautiful and functional in a real sense. I'll probably change my mind again, though. The fork will definitely be re-chromed - this much if a certainty. I'm always up for any suggestions, so feel free to dispense advice.
  20. Respraying in mid January.Frame is a bit rough at the moment. Have sourced parts I wanted to make this a daily rider.
  21. Nice job. Very cool result!
  22. I'm way too fat too ride such a beautiful frame. I'll stick to my newly bought Olmo, I think.
  23. I keep telling my wife that it could be so much worse. I could be: a) a gambler b) a wife beater c) a drinker d) a womanizer e) fat(ter) f) a drug addict g) all of the above h) any combination of the above Instead, I like to buy. work on and ride bicycles. Doesn't work all the time, though... I'll keep trying.
  24. I'll see what the minister in charge says...would love to.
  25. Brillianrt! Just plain brilliant! Well done.
