  1. How biased is this referee? Bulls robbed again. Shocker.

    LEL 2013

What a rip-off - R2500 for a one-stage event. I bet the organiser is making millions in profit. *climbs back under bridge*
  4. From a business perspective, it might backfire - I suspect the expense in accommodating the extra media Juan's presence would generate would be horrendous. The paparazzi wouldn't sleep in tents.
  5. I am going off Sauser a little. Moaning, fence-jumping prima donna. What is the bet they got nicked doing something naughty.
  6. To finish second again?
  7. haven't got Tread in front of me, but from what i remember, you might have forgotten to factor in the following... TV costs the event more than five million Electricity for the villages runs to something like 700k per night Full-time staff of something like 20 people, lets guess at an average of 10k per month, x 12 months, plus rental for office space for a year to host 20 people, plus phone, computer etc bills for 20 people for the year, plus plus plus See, I got rid of two thirds of that huge profit without even trying very hard Go and buy a copy, it makes interesting reading.
  8. Actually, lame of the Epic. They pay for that tv time. An hour each night might push the entry fee up a little...
  9. Maybe the organisers finally worked out he was a doping sod and sent him home.
  10. 586kph according to the blurb below the clip...
  11. It's a press release. Does it matter?
  12. And as a final farewell, you spell his name wrong? Tsk. Tsk. Gary Perkin, thanks for the your original, astounding photography. I have not met you, but I think we all feel we know you, you have helped us stand trackside, from the other side of the world, for a decade. You harp on about the World Cup, but what about that little race in the Cape. You helped make the Epic what it is, making it so easy for the majesty and drama of the race to be transmitted around the world. (Yes, there were and are other photographers, but you are Mr Consistent - always there, always getting the shot). Without your sublime shots in year one, the marketing of the event would have been a thousand percent harder. What a loss. *Trots off to sign up for Santa Cruz catalogues....
  13. Perfect for riding down to the caffe.
  14. It does make it a shed load easier to count how many you have done.
  15. I was also in B. Was a safe ride, except for this guy who kept unclipping and putting his foot on the ground.
  16. If. You. Feel. It. Is. Too. Expensive. Don't. Ride. It.
  17. I missed the bit where he says it wasn't insured? My guess is that to avoid waiting for another million months for a replacement (from Specialized, not from insurance) makes a five grand investment in getting it back worth every penny.

  19. +100 Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
  20. I have been watching the TDF since '82... and every year there is a scapegoat team/nation for the natural crashes that will happen when you have 200 guys trying to race. It was the Columbians - Cafe de Columbia etc - then it became the Basques - you saw an a=orange jersey near a crash and it was his fault - now it is the wildcard teams.
  21. That is a high number, normally in the 29-30 000 range
  22. Send his number to the organisers with the pics, they will persuade him not to try it again. Nicely, of course.
  23. No - then I would be forced to take exception to something you said, and then to apologise.
  24. If I steal it would that count as outside assistance?
  25. I was going to carry a banana, but I think I will just steal one from a little boy at the side of the road.
