  1. Why does a late entry on Friday 10/12 make me wonder if its legit data ? when the comp ended on Tuesday, 06-Dec-2016 23:59:59 SAST Damian Wasowicz has completed Challenge4 2016-12-10 09:22:09 Just saying - but hey - maybe it is ...
  2. ..... its going down in 1h ....
  3. Loved the kyalami part /// that was fantastic ... now to go give some support to my fellow cyclists ...
  4. it should add the consecutive days ... 1,2,3 so irrespective of number of rides in a day ... for day 1 you should get {ride 1 hours} + {ride 2 hours}, then on day 2 {ride 1 hours} + {ride 2 hours} and on day 3 the same pattern ... only requirement is that days 1,2,3 are consecutive ... at least thats the way I see it.
  5. some friggen fast IL riders ... they managed to get ahead of c batch on heidelberg road ... but were passed pretty quickly and spat out the back ... Cant remember when the catch happened tho on the route ...
  6. Why does the leaderboard show : Rides Distance Climbing Time That was great for challenge 1, but challenge 2 is different .. Can the leaderboard show : Challenge 1 | Challenge 2 | Challenge 3 | Challenge 4 with done | in progress | not started | not started and perhaps with "Not achieved" if that challenge is not met The leaderboard would then be representing the leaderboard, and not distance / time cycled which has become redundant in terms of the leaderboard now ...
  7. I have had a compressor - and that takes up space for just a "tubeless" ... got rid of it I go to the garage, buts its annoying having to do it there with motorists coming and going ... The virgin active so far has been the best - with the bike service area ... However ...This makes perfect sense for home use ... I will get one when they at shops .. for convenience ..
  8. Yeah, ... the 6 portiloos ... The biggest problem ... too few of them ... They need to have 2 or 4 portaloos dedicated to the dudes - for the long drop .. and 2 x 4 pee pods - although trees work great as well for the lads ... and then for the ladies - 10 or more dedicated portaloos at least ... and then additional 2 in the start pens for unisex ... just a thought ...
  9. Question: Epic is a team event ... If you win, do you choose a team mate from friends ? or is it a team mate from the competition ?
  10. Trying new route variations can reveal unexpected gems ... such as : a great hill climb, a road free of cars, just 1 road down or up , some great single track , a bike shop you didnt know was there, new strava segments , a technical descent ...
  11. Question : Challenge 4: Ride, ride, ride Complete at least 3 rides (on consecutive days) with a total moving time of 12 hours or more Can I do 2 rides of 2 hours each so that it gives me 4 hours a day, repeated over 3 days ? or is it a single ride of 4 hours in a day ?
  12. Howzit! I commute on a 26er. I use the braamfontein spruit 2 or 3 times a week. the semi-slicks were some cheap chinese make ... I think it was R125 per tire... width is 1.5 I converted them to tubeless with stans ... I had to raise the inside height of the rim with insulation tape to make the fit tight, and then a tubeless rim strip like "joes" or the ghetto version which is a cut 24inch tube. I am still getting used to off ride ride .. lots of slippery stuff on the loose gravel. ... lots of fun tho .. I recommend it though if you commuting ... it rolls faster - as least 2-5km/ph with no extra effort. It dropped the ride height of the crank - so it makes pavement hoping a little bit more interesting - crank arms always have to be level now ... because one foot down bottoms out on the transition ...
  13. Changing to semislicks from off road on your daily commuter does wonders for strava PB (Personal Best) segments - even when off road
  14. I learned that strava is a great commuting tool .... once you complete a segment, look at other results for the day on a commuter specific section ... other commuters using strava will have their routes against their segment times ... You can also use the strava "flyby", where if fellow cyclists/runners using strava crossed your path, you can view on a virtual map, your ride vs theirs in an animated way .. I learnt a lot of new routes on my commute using this technique ... routes i would not have considered ... ...and then there is of course the sprints in specific sections makes you look weird when you giving it gas on your commute with a backpack and then suddenly backoff after the segment completes ...
  15. I will try follow up with discovery and see if they can integrate with saseeding ... that would allow the auto point allocation ... Or has it been tried before and failed ?
  16. Hi, I am not sure if this has been covered before, but why are ashburton and trailseeker events not available for claiming vitality points ? https://www.discovery.co.za/discovery_coza/web/linked_content/pdfs/vitality/team_vitality/vitality_race_events_calendar.pdf surely saseeding results can be used ?
  17. My results are in... and my kids ... Sent from my SM-A300FU using Tapatalk
  18. My result in the 70 not there and my kids result in the 20 not there ... sent an email ...waiting for reply.... the results seem to be a problem this year? The route was great this year...a proper challenge... Sent from my SM-A300FU using Tapatalk
  19. woooohoo ... just did this as per JB instructions ... Yes first time lockout did not work, was an alignment issue from the silver shaft ... re-did with check of alignment ... and all sorted ... Thanks for this old post! with good advice ... Also agree that pop-lock is a dumb thing ....I did a few races with issues from that stupid pop lock ... so ... yes if you want to go to crown lockout on rockshox ... just remove the spring and its done.
  20. Load shedding is making my commute work like a charm
  21. Lesson learnt: Commute every day to work is easy if you are prepared with: 1) Work Clothes 2) Wash area 3) Lockable safe bike area 4) essential spares on the bike Biggest problem was shoes, until I just left a pair at work to change into. Clothes can fit into backPack when folded correctly.
  22. Commuting for two years and not servicing your headset lets to strange steering behavior ...
  23. You need to insure at replacement value. If you dont, you will be paid by the following formula : value you insured at / replacement value * value insured at so if your bike cost you 5000 and its replacement value is 10,000 and you claim: 5000/10000 * 5000 = 2500 claim paid. This is why you insure at replacement value.
  24. Mr Price Sports in Sandton city - if you need something basic, like a patch kit or a cheap light. All other hardware you will need a real bike shop.
  25. Hi Fellow Hubbers, Who would you recommend for a service and why would you recommend them ? (Seal replacement and re-oil)
