  1. You need to insure at replacement value. If you dont, you will be paid by the following formula : value you insured at / replacement value * value insured at so if your bike cost you 5000 and its replacement value is 10,000 and you claim: 5000/10000 * 5000 = 2500 claim paid. This is why you insure at replacement value.
  2. Mr Price Sports in Sandton city - if you need something basic, like a patch kit or a cheap light. All other hardware you will need a real bike shop.

  13. The Bestmed Walkerville MTB Classic will offer riders an authentic mountain biking experience! The event starts and finishes at the Walkerville Showgrounds (GPS coordinates: 26 24 17S and 27 57 48E). Riders can also enjoy lots of eats and drinks on sale on Sunday.
  14. The start : is it at the show grounds ? take m1 then left at 550 ?
  15. The question is: Do you go down this insane MTB descent at 40km+ knowing that your tyre is shot ? or over rocky terrain and then getting stuck in race? Medical bills may be far more expensive than the replacement tyre. Replace the tyre and write it off against a good day of racing.
  16. 2 sets arm warmers 2 sets leg warmers 2 sets winter gloves 1 balaclava - but actually need 2 2 sets ear warmers 1 Wind break jacket 1 thermal vest : t-shirts work just as well.
  17. He may have been thinking how to make it safer for you to ride. His background was probably growing up in a township, where the road rules are different to the law. Thank him, and offer to buy him a coffie. In a nice way as you have done, explain why its better to follow the law.
  18. Sad news. One of my brothers mates - from motor racing. RIP.
  19. yip, 9-speed mtb stuff = chain reaction cycles. Local is focused on 10 speed MTB ...
  20. My daily MTB routine: 1) wash chain with degreaser 2) Wipe clean and dry 3) Dip whole chain into tub filled with gear box oil 4) Wash bike drive train while chain absorbs oil 5) Pick up dripping chain, and wipe excess oil off back into tub 6) Place on bike 7) Give another wipe to remove excess oil A 5L has lasted since last year around July doing this around 4 - 5 times a week. I ride in all kinds of dirt. Chain is always well lubed for me.

    Bombs & stans

From experience ....co2 bombs dry up the stans in a nice little ball ... very ineffective for puncture seals ...
