  4. At 70 Juta Street in Braamfontein there is a hard-core bike shop known as Hunter Cycling. The walls of the store are literally filled to the rafters with cycling gear and related goods. Magazines, t-shirts, bike seats and helmets are just a few of the items found there. Hunter Cycling is certainly geared towards the more serious cyclist and not the average bike rider.

    Pannier Racks

A good back pack, and you are sorted ... hikers do it all the time ... Panniers you will probably only use once ... (unless you plan to do it often ...)
  9. Traffic backed up for km's do you split ... ? of course being aware of motor bikes and giving way to them ...
  10. I made a mistake on a order from cwc , they had no issues with replacement... Excellent service ... I was totally At fault.
  11. What about ... First National Bank Stadium or simply FNB Stadium, also known as Soccer City and The Calabash, is a stadium located in Nasrec, the Soweto area of Johannesburg, South Africa...

  13. LOL!; Who do you think pulls the yellow Jersey for a win ? Or perhaps is the yellow Jersey really the yellow Jersey in the TDF?
  14. 1st build the base miles then enhance with intervals and hill repeats. Also: Be aware of what zone you are in the race (aerobic / anaerobic). Use a heart rate monitor if you cannot determine without one. If you at red line from the start, dont expect a fast finish. The week leading up to a key race should be a taper week with much less training and more carbs in diet. The day before; ideally some light riding to loosen the legs.
  15. Dude, consider yourself lucky to have such support at the race ...

  17. Race against your seeding group ... its based on handicap ...
  18. Convert your quick release to bolt action. Never have issues. Long time ago I had that issue with quick release on seat post. With bolt, no seat height dropping.

  20. Two options: 1) dont turn right with the cars, carry on straight and stop on the other side next to the robot. Turn bike towards where you want to go, head straight when green. (Safe option) 2) "Line of sight" ride in the middle lane and push ahead of the cars at the robot. Make your intention clear that you are crossing. (not so safe)
  21. Bib shorts - way more comfortable than normal shorts on a bike - less friction on pedal strokes to saddle. No Flapping in the wind. Padding where you need it. Cycle shirt has convenience pockets on the back and allows more air through to stay cooler. Clip in shoes - way more control when on-off pavements , bunny hops etc. Also allow more air in to stay cooler. Sports cyclists dont look odd. They look cool.

  23. What do you do ? Cycle , or wait for it to pass?
  24. if work is under 2km away, and you coast there on a downhill, excellent idea. However, Your co-workers may not appreciate your Chris Froom efforts if you ride hills. What about packing for clothes for the week, and leaving that at work ?
  25. Your timing chip should be enough for entry ... i.e. use that to gain entry to the starting grid. If not registered, you dont get entry.
