  1. If stage one was a cool day things would have been very different for many teams .Last year stage one two and three were really technically difficult but the weather was perfect .There were still a lot of riders that did not make cutoff .If those days were really hot like at 2017 Tankwa that use most of the same trails ,things would have been just as bad like at Tankwa day two when the temperature peeked at 46 degrees celsius .One riders also died that day and many riders ,including me did not ride the next day due to exhaustion
  2. Men have large ego's .Putin example .Woman don't .You see it when they are three to four years old already .Midlife crises management should be the new name of the Epic .But it is OK .Rather do MTBing than shooting at your neighbor's
  3. Happened to me last year at the top of Aap du huez in stage 5 .Overtightened seat tube or dirt
  4. Like Graig said .All good advice .I have bought plenty here .Speak to the seller in person .Preferable the owner and ask leading questions like technical stuff and the shop where it was serviced . Good equipment in good condition deserve good prices , but there are always the few bad apples and unrealistic sellers . Ask on the forums for advice if needed .Some hubbers can sniff out a Russian in a Ukrainian uniform from here
  5. I can listen to Bart and Rob for a couple of hours but not days
  6. Nino ,Blevins ,Prevot .They are superstars . I have bad fomo ,having done the previous two .Epic can ruin a whole season for the XCO riders and somebody like vd Poel . This is one event .Vd Poel can win multiple events and do half a Grand tour in the same season . For a dedicated XCO rider it can help like it helped Langvad ,but you also need to be as strong as her and not many riders are .Prevot had a bit of a wake-up call today
  7. XCO commentary is for 90 minutes every three weeks .Epic is 9h x 7 days
  8. App works fine !
  9. Brutal day! .Say no more !Some riders still not in
  10. All depends on how much single tract sections in the route and where it is .Last year we rode eighty percent single tract .Stage five last year also had 3000 m of climbing with the last 700m climbing in the last 30km of which 25km was muddy forest single tract .Your average speed just tumbles dramatically .And also ,there are no mistakes in the route .If it says 3000m climbing that what you get
  11. Other than riding in circles i don,t think it will make a difference
  12. My wife who has always been fit and active found the same happened to her .When i started cycling i struggled to keep balance on a spinning bike .It takes time for your cycling muscles to wake up and keep your hips steady .Core strength is super important also and that will determine how comfortable you will sit .As you get stronger and your legs carry more weight than your behind ,things will improve .Ride with a tool and adjust your setup when you notice / feel where the problem is .The saddle might be perfect but tilted the wrong way ,or too much forward ext .Keep on adjusting until things improve .Even the best saddle and shorts will fail if your position is wrong
  13. Depending on your age it could be a multitude of mechanical related referred pain from lower back or SI joint ,a hernia or metastases from prostate cancer .You don,t know ,until you know .Go see a medical professional .Cannot be the Pyga geometry .I have one and it is my Favorited ride
  14. Aftershokz .Bought a pair ,wore them every day for two years and bought another pair .Will buy another when current one pack up
  15. The offset effects the SIZE of the trail area and the virtual angle to the ground and that effects the turning acuteness .The wheelbase may extend slightly but that is not the reason for offset . Just like a smaller wheel will have a smaller trail size and therefore it will turn easier than a larger wheel .So to get a larger wheel to turn like a smaller wheel you have to get the trail area smaller and that is why offset was brought into production .Before 29 wheels all forks had the same offset
  16. Not always .It is usually countered further up in the steerer of the fork ,so the overall position of the front axle does not change
  17. No incorrect !.Offset has nothing to do with the length of the fork ,effects the trail /handling .AKA as the turnability of the front end .Similar length forks will turn differently with different offsets
  18. I does make a difference ,but only noticeable in twisty single-track and especially on switchbacks .Longer offset is more turntable
  19. These are Nirvana trail markings
  20. The regulars know by now how to change or avoid certain sections .The first timers are the problem .Once you are in the bush you can easily lose orientation .On my last visit i turned around earlier because of the heat .On my way back i came across a family with a disabled child in on of those chariot cycle jobs heading to the hottest part of the trails ,oblivious how far they were out . I turned them to another cooler shaded section
  21. I wanted to mention Buffels ,but Karl was a step ahead .Cannot get lost here ,especially when the foliage is dense . What has happened to me thrice at this particular venue are people heading out on trail and getting dehydrated and heatstroke .Twice i found hikers that went for a 60 min hike ,underestimating the terrain and me coming across them in the bush with no water three hours later . Once i had to fetch my car to take a lady back .She was actually close to the Start but was not aware of it .They were all first timers at the venue
  22. I think just like corporations are tired and gatvol of BEE so it is in sport .They vote with their feet
  23. Why do people keep on drumming the African drum when there is no sound ???
  24. Accept the worst stupid thing a Taxi or other person that passed metric with a 20% average and bought his drivers licence can do , and you won,t be surprised by their actions on the road
