  5. ICE campaign - "In Case of Emergency" <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending u s would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this " ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you n eed to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dia lling the number you have stored as "ICE". Please forward make this known to other people. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1 , ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference! Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!
  6. It is a case of once bitten twice shy methinks. The area venue and race has all the possibilities in various combinations to offer a wide range of cycling. It just have to be done in a new way so cyclists can forget the mistakes made by previous organisers.
  7. Rifles and MTB's can never be called unhygenic.... road bikes are!!!!!!
  8. How slack....... hanging pap so it will fall off. The top part is in tension when you pedal. The bottom part will always have some slack but not pap. If it is hanging pap you have them in the wrong teeth.
  9. Big H is dead.... cant you understand!!!!!!!
  10. Sooo you are a unliscenced professional..... was it munny or lucky draw or Lotto!!!!!! Do not worry Lotto does not constitute lyjing!!!!!
  11. Lety i agree with your brushing off the dirt scheme but you srely wash the chain after all the dried mud and gunk hits your chain. The non cleaning attitude makes me think what a staff sargeant in the army once said. A witty troopie asked why we have to clean our rifles because tomorrow we are going to shoot again..... his response was "you wipe your ass after youve been to the toilet, why wipe it you you are going there again"..... sisssssss........ not cleaning your bike is dirty habits!!!!!!
  12. I cannot remember. They are made by Park, Pedros, BBB and many other. I have the Finish Line set. Go and look at this link.... http://www.bonthronebikes.co.uk/240-2771 Do not pay for the name or useless bottles of shampoo. Look at what ther have, go to the Supermarket and get the closest brush they have as a substitute. For many years I washed my bikes with muttoncloth, a old sponge, a long necked dishwashing brush and a small paintbrush. My bikes were just as clean as now but the brush set just makes it easier and more efficient. Also look at car spares outlets, I think I saw the same sets cheaper there.
  13. The brush sets made by various companies is a must must. There is a big one with fluffy brstle tips, a round one with stiff bristles and a curved one shaped very much like a toilet bowl celaner. They work amazing. As mampara said car shampoo to wash the bike. clean the chain beforehand with a clamshell type of cleaner. Many companies make the. I use the BBB one after trying two this one works well. I use Sunlight Liquid to wsh the chain, no need to split the chain even if you use SRAM. I spray the frame with mr Min Neutral (a MTB is not supposed to smell like flowers or cherries) Wipe with a soft cloth. Gunks does not stick to the frame so much during the next clean and your bike looks spiffy. Keep all oil and lubricant away from all braking surfaces. No need to say why!!!!!!
  14. Also be sure to tell the companies you are getting quotes from that you are a funrider taking part in organised events and that you are NOT receiving any prize money classifying you as "professional" Licenced riders fall under a different category. Many companies confuse "racing" with "fun riding" you will be surprised at the change in attitude and how much lower your insureance will be if added to your general package. Be sure to specify all deviations form your original bike like carbon upgrades, accessories like saddle bags and pumps etc.
  15. Kona Fan it will not be nice to watch your own post all day long because judging the reponse and drivel above you would have deleted all of it except my intelligent and non flippant posting

  17. Slowpoke chill out it is Friday. The other post is not even active anymore, how was the poor new guy supposed to know. (btw you were advertising cyclesure above ... did admin give you permission?) Anycase wellcome Riccardo, you now know.... no postings on insurance without asking permission, stay away from the Shimano/kempekkernoglia debat, leave the sanctity of Lance Armstrong alone, no flaming of fellow hubbers (some people will never learn) and do not make viscious attacks on members of cycling clubs. Enjoy your stay here. The Hub (of Die Wielnaaf) is can be exciting, controversial and boring (sometimes at the same time)Hendrik Petoors2007-06-22 02:48:53
  18. Exclusive Books in Hillbrow, die Bel(vedere) Hotel in Pretoria. Snoeker (not pool) at the Hellenic and boogie at Bumpers and The Great Wazoo. Dancing at the Zillerthal and eating at the Red Ox in Sterland. Wie onthou nog Patrys (ek was 'n Patryspeurder), Die Kleinspan en die Jongspan. Die Rooi Ridder Boeke(ek was 'n grootridder met goue eikeblare). Ek onthou my Pa en Ma aand die beplan vir 'n vakansie Kaap toe, toe my Pa se "kom ons budget ₤30-00 vir petrol". My ma se toe "Nooit dink jy jy is 'n miljoener". Dit was my eerste "MTB". 19.
ADMIN when can the Revue Cycling Club Virtual Clubhouse be up and running!!!!!!!!!
  23. Look at my posting in Chit Chat regarding what we are doing in Nigeria.
  24. In keeping with the new spirit on the Hub we certainly do not need this type of derogatory and insulting behaviour. Shame on you. i will not respond to your inflamatory and debasing posts in the future.
