Agree. Running for a cardio warm up before interval training randomly around in the week helped me allot( Keep it under the 10km). Basically shocking the system ( in a good way), wich increased my stamina allot. I cycle everyday, feeling I was condition my body with only cycling( Trick your body), running is a very easy and quick way to boost training.

I would recommend a Phoenix '09 model. Have seen some of the going for R4500 brand new. Only big difference is Deore RD with different decals. I had one of these, and I couldn't have asked for a better bike to start off with, they are serious value for money IMO.

Think if I have a choice I would definitely consider the XTR's just for that specific feature, if I can get them second hand for a reasonable price.

The double gear shifts would obviously be a great advantage approaching uphill technical sections( at high speed). Is this a feature you use alot?

Thanks for the responses! Biggest difference I could find was the premium for the weight difference. I am considdering upgrading for a pure mechanical performance upgrade, example faster and snappier shifts. I currently have Deore shiftersand a XT RD, Wouldn't the XT shifters justify the XT RD more than the Deore's, on a mechanical level ? Regards,
