  1. Correct. But you shouldn't be scoring more than 100TSS in an hour, especially during training. If you are getting more than 100TSS per hour, your FTP is set too low, which means it wasn't setup/tested correctly from the start or your ftp has gone up and you need to test to see what your new(higher) FTP is.
  2. Also agree it was an awesome day and vibe out there. I think the thread name should change to : Well done to the Bainbridge/CHOC crew!
  3. What an awesome event looking back after getting some proper rest in. Rode all the technical sections, with no dismounts throughout the race. It's fun to get that type of terrain where you really get challenged, where you focus and commit. We don't really get to ride that type of terrain enough in out "normal" rides. All in all fun and tough.
  4. Cool Video on Facebook of guys crossing the water bridge. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151587293662111&set=vb.157607670966173&type=2&theater
  5. The guys in A and B batch were absolutely great today. No "chop" moves the whole day. No one got upset. Each rider asked to pass with manners. If the guys got stuck on tech sections they cleared the way immediately without disrupting the other riders coming past. Toughest race in the series as far as I'm concerned, and my toughest day out even though Im at my strongest the year. The last 10km's was a real toughy, and I lost allot of time during those sections. Now for Hakahanna.
  6. Good luck to everyone riding tomorrow. Remember to keep the rubber side down, and don't forget to enjoy the race for what it's worth!
  7. I'm really looking forward to an awesome day! As easy as that.
  8. What a couple of chops. I agree that they should be banned from Groenkloof. Good old golden rule, respect the animals and the trails. As easy as that. Maybe we should also show them the Strava Douche video.
  9. A ride would be cool.
  10. It was such a privilege to have seen this historic moment in person. The midnight arrive at home was worth the while.
  11. Exactly what I would have said. Each manufacturer has it's own sizing chart and geo. I'm 182cm and riding a Large Anthem X29 with a 100mm stem. Its literally a fit between your body dimensions/geometry and the geometry of the bike. Some guys will opt to go larger and some will say smaller is better. There are so many things to consider.
  12. Entered for the marathon and looking forward with the hard work and time I invested in my training.
  13. I also investigated the count of daily calories with a couple of apps. I did it for a week, from there I knew pretty much what are the foods to stay away from and what to focus on. So do it for a week and then design your meals around that information. If you have a mac, try Calories2, its a bit buggy but free, and gives you some awesome info/custom food options.
  14. I'm usually the guy to sit on the wire. But I would take the Scalpel.
  15. Epic stuff.
  16. Best thread I've seen for a long time on the Hub. Thanks guys.
  17. Amazing Stuff. Got goosebumps at the end.

  19. I had to carefully look at my nutrition to make everything happen. So recovery drinks were important, what you eat throughout the day, extra l-glutamine for the brain after workouts. Expensive supplements during exams were seen as an investment in my future.
  20. Its all about planning ahead and managing/finalizing things way before you were to normally attend to something. As an example, if you know next week is a hard training week, and assignments/tests are due, you need to divide up your free time the previous week, to average out the amount of hours you need to spend on your studies over a longer period. Last year I did my Honours part time, worked full time in JHB and stayed in PTA. Doing IDT session from 19:00 to 21:00 was nothing strange, and then to try and stuff studying in to 12:00 was a challenge. Yes my cycling did take a knock, but I was still getting PB's on races. My best cycling years were actually during my studying full time at UP. But most of my training took place either in the late mornings or early afternoons depending on the class schedule. Good luck! It's not impossible.
  21. As mentioned above, bike needs to be level, some IDT trainers comes with front wheel support, or as Tacx calls them a Skyliner. Before I had my Tacx I used a wooden block with my Giant trainer. If you ride with a saddle that is level, it's easy to try different objects underneath the wheel until the bike is level. Some IDT trainers take things even further with an incline setting to simulate the gradient of a hill, so also try to make it a bit higher for those "Hill" repeats as a variation.
  22. Those colored silicone cases looks sweet!
  23. Will try to pick up a set of Quartz pedals on some clearance special somewhere if they're still available. Otherwise I wouldn't mind moving to S-Tracks, when the time comes. Feedback from riders is great.
