  1. What's a thread if it cannot be derailed? This is BikeHub, we meander like on a lazy exploratory ride.
  2. Believe it or not, people made popcorn well before the invention f the microwave oven ......... yes, I know, I date to those prehistoric times.🤪
  3. It's like I'm a very bad psycic 🤪
  4. Solar water geysers tend to function very poorly in extremely cold environments like the Kalahari in winter. Despite the abundence of sunshine, the very common below zero night time temperatures (often to -5 and occasionally down to -10 or worse) tend to kill the solar water systems. I would also rather use gas or diesel in that part of the world, at least in winter. Gas is tricky with tourists and people who don't know how to operate with it, leaving diesel as a good option. In summer you can shower cold, rather, a cold shower is essential with 30+ daily temperatures (often 40+). In autumn and spring solar geysers could work well there. Perhaps one of the engineer types can elaborate?
  5. If you could only know how much trouble it was and how long it took to get SANParks to approve putting up signs funded by Tokai MTB at the start of the single tracks in Tokai. Dozens of meetings, negotiations, specifications, sizes, colour, lettering, baboon proofing, no sponsor names, no advertising ....... YEARS! Just to get a few very small signs to prevent mtbikers from getting lost. But then, maybe if it brings in money, it will be quicker?
  6. Ha ha, Paarl stuff gets delivered to Vredendal in 60 minutes
  7. Where I live the clouds' water already broke.🤪
  8. No, the day pass is for all the legal cycling routes on Table Mountain. So, after doing Tokai and Silvermine, you can do Constantia Neck to Newlands to Rhodes Memorial to Deer Park to Signal Hill and sommer Missing link to llundudno. Hell, that R100 will cost you less that R1 per km but more than R1 in Voltaren and recovery drinks (OK, maybe not you, but me definitely).
  9. Ha ha, I did that 25 years ago and my wife is still giving me grief over it. Just hire the sander.
  10. I see a self-building jump park with interesting lines
  11. Never underestimate Mamils
  12. Guess what this bicycle is made of: they look like cherries, but they are not (msn.com) I'm pretty sure The Bikehub can come up with much better geometry and set-up!
  13. I'm so glad you post pictures like that. As for me, I wake up in the dark, with loadshedding, go to work in the dark, get home in the dark, have more loadshedding before going to bed ..... just to wake up and repeat.....keep posting pictures, at least until spring, please!
  14. But does it come with a Park Tool bottle opener? 🤪
  15. Agreed 100%.
  16. They'v also renamed "the seat of power" Loothuli House.

  20. And just like an addict trying to quit smoking, I cannot stop trying more very frustrating watercolours.
  21. I have been good at drawing and painting regularly (despite life returning to normal post Covid). But I have been bad at posting stuff. Here's one I did last week of our stoep in the Karoo. It really is the heart of the home.
  22. And then you have the little town of Rhodes, with an old world hotel, pub, restaurant of two, friendly laid back locals and only sometimes internet. Just GO!
