  1. Sometimes people only understand the price of something, but not the value. Each to his own. I think Ferraris are too expensive.😜
  2. AMT Composites in Cape Town is the place to get both resin and advice. They know their stuff. buy epoxy resin cape town - Search (bing.com)
  3. Jaaaah, it may be taking "basic pictures", but that Nokia is still working from a single charge from before Escom went all wonky in 2008.
  4. I'm all against violence, but I'd love to be able to do that when I'm 60.
  5. For the first time in well more than a decade, I am in a bit of an unusual position when it comes to deciding whether to enter or not. I am the only one of Team DJR who will be available to ride, come March. My older D is studying in Europe, and I don't know if he'll be able to come home then. My younger D is finishing his postgraduate studies at the end of this year and heading off, probably into Africa, afterwards. I'm not so sure I'm into riding this as a one man band anymore. It's a weird feeling to have after so many years of simply entering almost as per default setting. It was always the one day of the year that I could tell you exactly where I would be and what I would be doing. I'll sleep on it I guess. Perhaps riding it alone again after all that time, will bring back memories of a much younger and faster me? I suppose I'll up the riding a bit ....... just to be ready for whatever!
  6. All downhillers and special forces should be made to watch this as part of their training ...... if only to make sure they don't think they are THE hardcore guys 😜
  7. For the diaper, the parachute or both?😜
  8. In my house. that is the ONE thing that gets lost all the time. No matter how many new ones I buy, between the wife and two sons, I can NEVER find a tape measure when I need one. Even started hiding my tape measures, but they always find my hiding places. Perhaps this is my solution.
  9. The type of work looks like a Banksy, but then, there are so many people out there who can do a good Banksy that it is difficult to be certain. The conceptualisation, though, is sharp enough to be something he could have come up with.👍 (Yes, I am still a Banksy fan, even though the true rebels now consider him a sellout)
  10. Oh NOOOOO, so sorry to hear. Hope your recovery is speedy. And the poor bike!
  11. Anyone cycling Voortrekker Rd through that section on a week day, is much braver (or, more likely, even dumber) than me.🤪
  12. Auf wedersien Lufthansa😜
  13. Beautiful
  14. .......in every sight and every sound.............
  15. They say about ocean sailing that it is a little like standing under a cold shower tearing up R200 notes as fast as you can. Bit like that with riding in the mud.
  16. A road bike will make it easier, BUT, for someone new to cycling, a road bike can be quite a shock in terms of how jittery it feels compared to a mountain bike. It reacts much more quickly to rider input and that can make newbies very nervous when suddenly confronted with thousands of riders in close proximity. Controls are different, balance is different, everything happens faster. So, unless you have time to get used to a road bike, and are willing to go do a few warm up races beforehand, stick with the bike you are most familiar with. Ride the mtb. Focus on finishing and enjoying the vibe. Ride the 1st third of the race slow enough that you feel guilty for taking it too easy. Ride the middle 3rd so you feel comfortable. Ride the last 3rd so that you feel suffering. Simple plan, but it works. Also, if you can get your training rides up to around 3/4 of the race distance, then you can be pretty sure that you can finish it on the day. Enjoy.
  17. Ode to the most reliable vehicle on the face of this earth! (yes, even more trustworthy that the Merckx) Dates from somewhere in the late 1970s, we think. Odometer stopped working somewhere in the 1990s, so no idea what mileage it has done. During Covid it stood unused for over 18 months - and started at first try when I needed it again.
  18. Morphs' posts of those amazing sketches made me realize that I should post some of my not-so-amazing ones, just because it is fun............I have been messing around with a white gel pen on black paper lately.
  19. When you can smile (and ride), the world instantly becomes a better place 👍
  20. Sagrada Familia - The only building on earth that is not even finished and is already a world cultural heritage site. Been building it for over a 100 years now and due for completion in 2026 or 2030 depending on who you believe. Promised myself I'll go back there when they are done. Magical place.
  21. Unless it's blowin in the wind.............
  22. "The Answer" is always 42
  23. Was wondering about Slowbee and his family. Been very quiet from their corner.
  24. My one sons' girlfriend is busy with a Masters in pure mathematics, in some new field of it as well. I talk to her about other stuff. I even discuss veganism with her because at least I understand a little part of it!
  25. It is a totally typical case of a very common phenomenon called "I just changed one teeny tiny little thing and got struck by lightning"! An alternative name for it is "I meant to spend a hundred and it ended up costing me a thousand" !t is most often found in bicycles (I have some experience), old cars (I have a bit of experience) as well as old houses (I have lots of experience). 😜
