  1. On my superbike I dropped a tooth on my front sprocket, now it lifts the front wheel in 1st when I grab a handful. The top speed is theoretically lower but now I have the power to pull all the way to the rev limiter in 6th so I actually get a higher top speed When I replace my chain and sprockets I will also go a couple of teeth bigger at the back, then the power will be awesome. I will lose top speed then for sure.
  2. And a small change in circumference can make a big difference on a car, the gearing is designed/calculated with a certain circumference in mind
  3. Put larger circumference tyres on your car, it will ruin the driving experience, the car will lose pulling power. If you are lucky you will get a higher top speed but it is quite likely you won't have the power to achieve it
  4. On the 29er you need to push 7.25% more power to go up the same hill as the 26 but the benefit is in the top speed
  5. 7.25% less power on the 29er and 7.25% more speed with the same ratios
  6. I never walk, stuffs up my rhythm/pace. Isn't this just a 50km race?
  7. I think I read on the internet that there is no scientific proof that there is anything that helps with cramps, that is of course excluding extra training.
  8. I really struggle to eat energy bars while I am running, it is hard to chew and swallow when you are gasping for air.
  9. Prorides cost around R1600.00 each and the roof racks + mountings are not cheap Pity Thule SA rips us off so bad, everything in the UK is at least 50% cheaper. Thule SA quoted me R5350.00 for a detachable towbar, this doesn't include fitment or harness. The same towbar sells for 220 pounds but they don't want to ship to SA
  10. My legs were a bit tired after the 72km I did in the morning and I struggle to keep up with you guys anyway. Also, I tested my 29er and found out you do have to pedal it on uphills
  11. http://www.silverbacklab.com/web_gallery/starkesubzero.htm Ignore the specs, they are wrong. It is belt drive with internal gears. It has a front hub dynamo and USB ports to charge cellphones or GPS as well as run lighting
  12. These are the ones I have
  13. I have the boots, I will check out the light tube. Thanks
  14. Scott Scale 29 Elite R12800.00 after discount at Westdene Cycles
  15. Are lights needed towards the end of the ride?
  16. Is it worth carrying tubeless plugs and the tool to insert them with? I have a set here but the plugs seem very thin. Do you get different thickness plugs?
  17. I know for next time but I am also sure there will be no next time at Cajees for me. You expect to get what you were sold, I only noticed when I wanted to put my pedals on. I suppose I should have noticed the crank arms were silver and not silver/black but I was in a rush to get home with my new toy.
  18. I specifically told the guy I wanted SLX/XT and not Deore, he knew if he mentioned the Deore crank it would be a dealbreaker
  19. This thread had 566 views already in 9 hours, that bearded fool should have kept the customer happy and not tried to rip me off
  20. Is that a popcorn kind of question?
  21. I might join you guys but only if Patches is there
  22. My handlebars seem very wide. About what width do most people run on a 29er?
  23. Princess Crossing helped me out OK, they messed up and fitted a 2x10 first but I told them I am a woesie so they changed it to a 3x10
  24. No, same price. The bike came as per manufacturer specs but Cajees just forgot to mention it was not a full SLX bike
  25. Ok, I changed the title of the thread. Fatima at Cajees Princess Crossing will swop out the crank for R550.00
