  1. i think also major disability as well.
  2. no You can only touch an ra in retirement, death or financial emigration.
  3. yep. Hence the need to pay a professional and complete the financial migration process.
  4. Our vegepod is going crazy. Two varieties of tomatoes and a watermelon plant. My daughters hand for scale.
  5. except we couldn’t. Still had to dispose of assets whilst overseas and we (like most people) had not decided at the time to migrate. We were exploring options and checking things out. Irrespective you would not be able to release your RA nor would you be able to do your final tax returns. Most people don’t leave one country with residence to the next one. There is a process of work visas to temporary to permanent. So in our case we had no choice to wait a while before doing financial emigration.
  6. Cashcows quoted me almost R75k. Rand Rescue did it for $2,500 (R25K). I was quie surprised at how much work was involved. Yes, mine was very complicated. 2 RAs several policies. Shares and they had to do several tax returns.
  7. I don’t think you realise the amount of work that goes in to this process. That price seems about right. I paid around the same for mine to Nz. It involves multiple tax returns. Several visits with sars on my behalf. Courier of several packages of documents. Setting up of different bank accounts to receive the funds and lots of communication throughout the process from educated people. It’s really not that simple.
  8. i highly recommend Henrico from Rand Rescue. Cashcows screwed my stuff up so bad and Henrico sorted it out. If you are keen, let me know and I’ll pm you his number. He was better priced than cashcows too.
  9. Hi Everyone. I am trying to help an ex business partner in South Africa look for full time employment. I ran a successful business with this man for 7 years prior to emigrating. Unfortunately due to circumstances outside of his control he is entering the job market. His history centres around freight/warehousing and more recently deep operational management. Quite a few of you have actually met him and those that have will know that a more honest and hardworking family man is hard to find. Johannesburg based. Please keep him/me in mind if you spot anything. It’s not often I ask the hub for help, so I am using up all my fake internet brownie points on this one. Thanks.
  10. I knew there was a reason I liked you. Panerai is one of my favourites. Unfortunately I sold mine when leaving the country. To be fair, it did pay for all of our flights! I do miss that watch. I really like the brown. It suits you. Congraulations Dawie.
  11. Part of the financial migration process requires you to close all accounts. Then all funds are placed into a managed deposit account and once everything is in there like RAs and so on it’s transferred out and closed. If you want to continue having a bank account you need to reapply and meet certain criteria. https://www.fnb.co.za/forex/non-resident/cheque-accounts.html Why would you want to keep an account open?
  12. no. You have to close them all. If you choose to reopen one it’s as a non resident and that’s a mission.
  13. not citizenship but tax status. Financial migration is different from full migration.
  14. R669,000????
  15. no. It’s the Thug Kitchen Series.
  16. Bwaaa haaa haaa. New favourite cookbook. Not for sensitive readers.
  17. I recently moved over to stuff fibre. $99 for 900mbs down. Uncapped. First three months are discounted.
  18. Plus, strictly speaking Veganism has nothing to do with personal health. It has to do with ethics. you get fat vegans. Like any food, too many calories and not enough movement equals fat.
  19. just broadband or also power and or gas?
  20. Tonight’s meal. Corn tortilla with roasted eggplant, kumara(a NZ sweet potato), capsicum, courgette and corn. All spiced with Mexican spices like cumin, paprika etc. Topped off with a fresh salsa (I personally grew this tomatoes and coriander) and a fresh guacamole. Sitting next to it is a special edition bottle of Trinidad scorpion and pineapple hot sauce made by my favourite hot sauce company “Culley’s” Totally vegan and totally yum.
  21. Nita made a Quesadilla yesterday. Roasted and spiced veggies and instead of cheese she used a slow roasted eggplant that she mashed up. So darn good.
  22. MExican is VERY easy to make Vegan. We eat mexican inspired dishes at least three times a week at home. Thai is another good option - just be wary of pastes made using shrimp paste. Most ethical food shops will have vegan pastes. Its worth the investment as a little goes a long way.
  23. On the subject of boats. http://www.affordableboathire.co.nz/ $400 for the day. You book and arrive and the boats in the water and its yours for the day. Great if you only take the boat out a few times a year. Boats here are not cheap.
  24. When we moved over we boarded with a family for a month or so. They are ex RSA and have lived here for 18 years. Have not been further south than Taupo. Thats just crazy,
  25. I did mine in Botany, so we took a ride through East Tamaki and Maraetai/Beachlands. I did the bronze on the wednesday and the restricted on the saturday. Actually went to VTNZ this morning to convert.
