  1. again. You are wrong. I don’t wear leather shoes. I drive an electric car. I don’t eat any animal products and I live a vegan lifestyle. I still don’t care what you eat. Anymore than I care what religion you are or race or any other such trivial nonsense. Just let me be and stop thinking you know me. You don’t. You just think you do. Edit. My philosophy is that I believe what I am doing is the best thing for my family and my fellow humans. Everyone walks a journey at their own pace. The best way to “convert” someone is actually to not force the issue but to rather just live the change I want to see in the world and hope it inspires you to do the same. History has taught us that trying to convert people to anything generally doesn’t end well. Second edit: holy Toledo I am a total hippy. Lol
  2. I have been doing some reading up on the Hauraki Rail trail and I might take the kids to do that. Will probably only do two days around Karagahaki Gorge.
  3. Meant to also say that meat and dairy make me fart like a wounded bull so being plant based is really the best thing I can do for my fellow human beings. It’s really a community service.
  4. except you are wrong. I eat plants cos they are yummy and I feel healthier when I eat them. I can’t give a rats ass what you eat and I would appreciate the same courtesy. It’s the same reason I stay off the meat thread. I am not the target audience and I can appreciate that tolerance of each other’s differences go a long way.
  5. like I said. Both sides of the fence.
  6. The amount of Vegan bashing is frankly astounding. Just go look at this completely unrelated thread. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/183115-any-hub-experts/ I agree with you Eldron - Generalisations and stereotyping dont really do the world much good. Even in this thread, it has moved so far away from healthy debate and education into playing the man and not the ball, that it no longer has much value for me as I try to make sense of a world with conflicting information - and thats from both sides of the fence. Its a shame - I enjoyed the discussions in the beginning.
  7. i was contemplating having my kids join but am nervous. Long hours in the saddle for little ones. I reckon I might do it on my own and depending what I see, take the kids the next time.
  8. i am totally keen on doing this in spring.
  9. yep. I like these a lot. The only issue I have is the screens are never as vivid as the marketing images. Plus, I can’t really justify the change from a Fenix 5x to the Marq as they are essentially very similar.
  10. i must not feed the troll.
  11. some of us also eat plants for health benefits.
  12. The bad. Morning fog and the effect it has on domestic travel. Flight out of Christchurch is 2.5 hours delayed. Stink.
  13. Property prices and a high cost of living.
  14. I posted these on Facebook. Early morning flight to CHC for work. Beautiful country this.
  15. https://m.traveller24.com/TravelPlanning/VisaInfo/sa-scraps-visas-for-new-list-of-countries-including-new-zealand-and-uae-20190710 Seems kiwi passport holders won’t be needing a visa to enter RSA anymore. I wonder if N Z will drop the RSA visa requirement too?
  16. Was lucky enough to see them a few years ago in Auckland - HIGHLY RECOMMEND
  17. thats awesome! It’s like a power up in the video game of life.
  18. There is this little hot sauce company in Auckland that does truly amazing things with peppers. I have been on a waiting list for a small batch hot sauce that was delivered today. I am pleased to say it exceeded every expectation and is truly good.
  19. I am sitting at CHC airport about to head home. Spent a long weekend here with the family. I am absolutely in love with Hanmer Springs. If my AKL job transferred me to CHC and I retained AKL wages, it would be a really compelling proposition. We took the Kaikōura to Hanmer road on Saturday just as the snow hit and despite getting a little stuck, it was amazing. Here are some pics.
  20. its not pretty. They mostly give up halfway. They can call me what they like, as long as they let us stay.
  21. Technically you can swing citizenship in 4.5 years. You need to be in the country for 183 days out of that final year and then you are allowed to submit.
  22. I never thought I would ever look at tyres and think "those are hot" What is becoming of my life???
