  1. Hi Ben, I stay and work close to those areas and I may have a set lying in my toolbox - will have a look this evening and let you know.
  2. I'm looking for a replacement watch strap for my wife's Fenix 5S Plus watch. So far, I have only been able to find the black straps, but she has the rose gold watch, which has the white strap with the rose gold buckle. Anyone know where these straps can be found? I see Forza has the white strap, but with a black buckle...
  3. I do agree with your view, but what that means for the state of the grid and loadshedding, we are yet to see... I believe it's only going to get worse, unfortunately.
  4. Yup, it is only going to get worse from here on... Best to spend some more money on additional panels & batteries. We are going to start having more and more stage 6 loadshedding. I have just installed another battery and looking at getting an additional 4 panels in the new year.
  5. I see Koko has said that now Eskom can end load shedding in the next 6 to 12 months - what an idiot!
  6. Thanks for sharing and providing an update. Considering it is a relatively small and easy fix, one would think that the supplier would make the relevant spares available, instead of having to scrap an entire trainer due to a small electronic component failure.
  7. Wind turbines are very expensive relative to the amount of power that they generate. As already mentioned, they are also very expensive to maintain
  8. Have they dropped their computer requirements, following the update? Previously, you needed a monster gaming machine just to run the damn thing
  9. Any chance of a great Cyber Monday special on the Garmin Forerunner 955 solar?
  10. That's my view as well - don't see why we need to scan our boards, especially if we used it recently and know that it is working
  11. Sounds miserable...
  12. Sounds like you guys have had some bad luck with your Garmins. Over 11 years of cycling, I have only had 3 Garmins - 500 and 2x 520 (one I replaced under warranty due to water ingress after riding in a very heavy thunderstorm). My Fenix 3 is still going strong almost 6 years later... @Skubarra, I still have my trusty 500 around if you would like to borrow it?
  13. Everyone is "super nice" until money is involved...
  14. I saw a video of the ladies finish - absolute mud bath!
  15. Nice setup! Mine is similar in that I also have 2x H1 trainers. My trainer has done over 15000kms and I have had no issues - I have conducted minor maintenance on the unit such as clean outs, and applying belt dressing to the belt. Other than that, it hasn't given me a moment's issue. I think you have been a bit unlucky with your unit. I wonder if the lightning strike that you mentioned had anything to do with it? I'm looking at upgrading my H1, so let me know if you are interested, will sell it you for a very good price.
  16. You can, but it won't do anything, other than add weight to your bike... The new boards replace these chips as Racetec is no longer doing the timing for the event.
  17. It's not a once off timing board. It's similar to the old Racetec chips, just in a board form. You can use it going forward for many other races - I used it at the recent Germiston Classic.
  18. I hear you, but before you go out and buy a Kickr, do some reading on the forums - people are having their Kickr's written off for less (damaged belts, pc boards etc.) I know it sucks, but the agent isn't able to do much else - the unit is out of warranty and cannot be repaired. The fact that they are offering you a new unit at a discounted price tells me that that they are a good agent and will be always be willing to assist. As many others have already said, claim from insurance as it was a power surge that damaged the equipment.
  19. With the M1 south closed from 03:00 onwards, just ride the route and get off at Nasrec road. Depending on your start time, the last groups should still be going off when you are finished. Just join the route and ride back along the M1 until you get to an offramp that suits you (Jan smuts etc.)
  20. I stay in Parkview and planning on riding there. The highway will already be closed at that time of the morning, so just bomb down the highway to get to the stadium - just make sure you are off the route before the racing starts.
  21. Did you check the tyres to see if they had any plugs? 😬
  22. Sram stock is hard to find locally and most international shops won't ship. Just buy an Ultegra cassette and ride.
  23. Yup, I have both a Synapse and Pylontech batteries. I have been running my system for 1.5 years now with no issues. Synapse is just a rebranded version of the Axpert inverters - they are not a fully hybrid system, but are roughly half the price of the Sunsync / Deye units. Pylontech are a well established brand in the solar industry and supply a large number of batteries. If you do go this route, make sure you have some proper monitoring software available, as the standard Axpert monitoring isn't the greatest. I'm using ICC which allows for the proper monitoring and it even gives a beautiful dashboard layout.
  24. With 947 and DC coming up, everyone is out on the road and it is chaos...
  25. I have also sent them an email requesting a refund - I don't expect to receive it though. I know there were organizational costs that have now been "lost", however, it doesn't justify the amount of money that they have received from entrants. It appears that it was their own fault for the event not proceeding, as they didn't pay the Metro - pay back the money!
