  1. What is wrong with people?! How can you behave like this if you are called out for riding like a box? Hopefully this clown is found - make his life tough...
  2. I have had my unit for 4 years now and haven't even had it serviced.
  3. I have the H1 and besides being a bit noisy, it is a solid unit. I have done over 15000km with the unit and besides a bit of oil and belt dressing, I haven't had a days issue. I would buy the H3 - it's considered to be one of the top trainers (premium) and as already mentioned, the local support is very good.
  4. I will not use anything other than Spez bottle cages. Rib cages for road and zee cages for mtb. Never lost a bottle in over 5 years now.
  5. Nope, I'm not part of a team, but was part of the VA chasing bunch.
  6. I was in VA, on the 108km route. The 1st time was the extra 6km loop, the marshal sent riders in both directions and then around 15km later, there was a rise with a left turn on it and some riders were sent left instead of straight.
  7. Glad to hear it went so well from an organisers point of view. Good morning out to get back into racing (my 2nd race since 2019 947). Really hard work in that wind, especially the gutter sections. I don't weigh enough for this type of race - bring on the hills! Besides some marshalls causing confusion and sending riders the wrong way, it was a very well run and organised event - thanks @Frosty and team
  8. Indeed it is. The roadlink will definitely be required, or the item from Rapide.
  9. Email has just been sent out
  10. At the fun ride world champs, the difference between 4999th and 5000th is a massive bragging right!
  11. @Frosty, I am set to race this on Sunday and I see it also uses the Faces timing board that will be used in 947. I didn't do 947 last year, so I purchased a Faces board as part of my registration for the race. However, the board will only be included in the race pack, which will be too late to use this weekend. How do I go about getting my board before Sunday, or should I just buy an additional board?
  12. Yup, winner was 2 minutes slower than last year, however, the route was longer.
  13. Agreed and with that eyewatering price tag...
  14. Not a good idea - most manufactures limit the pressures to under 3 bar (rim and tyre). Exceeding that pressure on a mountain bike wheel is likely to end in disaster...
  15. If you are planning on running your entire house (geysers, pool pump etc.), I would suggest you rather buy the 8kVA inverter. This will future proof your system and allow you to add more panels over time. Panels are relatively inexpensive in comparison to the inverter and battery, and can be added in various stages as funds allow. The alternative option is to buy a 5kVA inverter than can be run in parallel. This will then allow you to buy an additional 5kVA unit down-the-line (they will need to be the same model). This option is certainly more expensive, but would allow you to at least start with some panels now.
  16. It depends on the type and size of battery that you have. All batteries have a maximum discharge rate, over which you damage the battery. Unless the batteries / system is designed to run a geyser, then it's probably best to avoid it. My system (14x 435W panels, 7.2kW inverter and 10.6kWh battery system) runs my entire house, including the pool pump and geysers.
  17. That's a lot more challenging that putting up with the loadshedding 🙈
  18. Here is an example: https://www.solarwaysuppliers.co.za/product/3kw-must-super-lite-back-up-pack/ It's presently out of stock, unless you live in Cape Town. You would still need to factor in installation (assuming you cannot install it yourself), but that shouldn't cost too much. Unfortunately, as many people will mention, this is potentially a never ending money pit. If you start with the 3kW unit listed above, it will cover the basics such as lights, wifi etc. during load shedding. However, when the wife wants a hot cup of tea, you are going to run into a problem - then more money needs to be spent upgrading the system. The best advise I can give, is to make sure of your exact requirements from the start. If you are purely wanting a small system in order to provide some lights and wifi, this system will work perfectly. If you want to run tv's, kettles etc. you will need to spend the money and get a bigger system. Send me a PM if you would like to discuss further. Ps. I don't work for Solar Way Suppliers, nor is it necessarily the best purchase available. However, it is presently the cheapest option.
  19. While the inverter trolley is the easiest in terms of it being "plug and play" the cost doesn't make any sense to me. Take the following as an example: https://leroymerlin.co.za/trolley-inverter-ellies-system-1440w-2400va-81454336 For not that much much more, a 3kVA inverter, with 2x 100Ah batteries can be purchased and installed directly into your DB. This will allow you to run your lights and many plugs for your home during load shedding. Now suddenly, you have lights, wifi, tv and you can charge your phone.
  20. Thanks for sharing OP. For me, as soon as there is a request for e-wallet or similar, I immediately request the use of Bikehub Pay
  21. Where are you based @KGmtb, my bike needs a wash
  22. The answer, as with everything in cycling, is it depends. The following has some good info: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/k7-7.shtml#stay
  23. Maybe i have an older version, but I have this mounted to my mountain bike with a bomb on one side and slug plug on the other and never had an issue with the items coming loose
  24. I'm still using my Fenix 3 HR, and also hoping it will die, so that I can justify buying a newer model! It hasn't skipped a beat since day 1.
  25. Take your bike to @David Marshall, he will change your cable and give the entire bike a one over.
