  1. This one is great. Allows major work like installing cranks easy, raises the bike so you aren't crouching and folds up easily. Pretty cheap off CRC as well. Model name is "Cycle-motion". http://tacx2009.ilink2.nl/MEDIA-REPOSITORY/Afbeeldingen/producten/Fietsgereedschappen/Montagestandaards/Cyclemotion%20stand/T3075_CycleMotion_338x450.jpg
  2. Not sure if this has been dealt with but I have to rant as the situation really has become comical. Why is it "ok" that for the time starting a couple of weeks before Epic, and until just after Sani, it is impossible to get anything out of our local suppliers? I'm not going to name shops or brands as the issue extends beyond one of either of them. I've been trying to source specific brake hose and other components for a bike I'm building. I placed orders for the hose and other components just after the epic through a shop as I'm "supposed" to do. Since then without fail the excuse for non-delivery is "well it's epic/ joburg to sea/ sani so things are bit hectic". The original reasoning to go local was to try and speed things up as the new bike was ready to ride barring those parts. Once again I should have just ordered from CRC. The bike stands waiting, and has done for almost a month now. Amazing that an industry of this size still acts like a small niche group, rather than stepping up and delivering. I know most of the businesses are being managed by riders, but perhaps it's time to employ at least a manager who doesn't disappear every time there is a big race.
  3. Not sure what all the discussion is about, I find vegetarians highly nutritious, and delicious...
  4. Good day all Just to let you know, there is now a case of beers for the rider with the most laps in a month. Although after last night it might have to be cokes or something as Vince beat everyone. The RMBC guys deserve all the support they can get for the work they put in every week. Hope to see more riders there soon.
  5. Is there another link to the results? I tried the link on the www.mountain-trophy.co.za site but those are still the 2011 results.
  6. Just want to add to this thread as they really deserve the PR. I ordered something that was difficult to come by, the guys there were really helpful, stayed in regular contact about the status, and delivered the part quickly. Thanks for great service and great value, hopefully you are rewarded with the business you deserve.
  7. Climbs? What Climbs.....?
  8. Anyone know the lady's results?
  9. As far as I could tell there was a body to manage it, apparently it was called "common sense". Even met a few of the members of the body, can't remember all their names but "check before you ride", "if you're not sure, take the alternative line" and "know your limits" were definitely in the group....
  10. Hi There are a couple of second hand options on the hub too, in case you're interested. None are mine but i've just seen them while browsing: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/21450-gt-ruckus-2009-3-hours-use-extras/ https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/20588-mongoose-thunderball/ https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/19743-scott-voltage-0-ltd-jump-bike-any-offers-at-all/
  11. I've come over all funny....
  12. I don't think there's any issue with taking turns, it's leaving them out the front without helping that is poor form. And that's not specific to any gender. Leaving anyone on the front is bad, roll through, take your turn. On average it's faster than letting the strong person suffer on the front anyway.
  13. Get hold of Ruan at Spokeworks, (http://www.spokeworks.co.za/) he's based in centurion. Tell him how you ride, where etc and he'll build you an awesome wheelset. Not sure about prices anymore as he built my current set about 3 years ago and have never had to be trued. He's well worth a call.
  14. Hi These are newb questions so happy to take any fire/ flack/ abuse/ etc thrown if necessary. 1) I'm interested in getting into trials riding but am a complete beginner. I've been riding MTB for a while and have a decent skill level but the challenge of trials looks cool. What is the best way/ place to start doing this sort of riding? 2) I don't have a trials bike (yet). Would a service-able alternative be a small 26" mtb but running single speed, wide bars etc work in the interim? At least until I have the moolah to get a real trials bike? Thanks in advance
  15. Natural selection in my view. You choose to ride the jump without the skill you pay the consequences. Darwin would be proud. For those that do have the skill, enjoy the jump, looks great. Maybe one day when I'm big.
