Groenkloof is a good option as well. It doesn't have marked trails by colour but you can easily do 15km on jeep track without any single track. So no technical stuff and a few decent hills to challenge you (if you want to tackle them). Also a lot of single track available that isn't very tough, give it a try!

I'm actually surprised only 300-odd people did all 5 events with 6000? starting each race....

Consider riding for a charity. It was the first 94,7 for my wife's and she secured an 8:20 start by supporting "cycling for pathways". You make a donation and in exchange you get a decent shirt, starting time and meet nice people :-)

I must find a job that have showers in the building :-(
