  1. Should probably just say "big smile"...(not "giant smile"), as he was on a Raleigh!
  2. Awesome story! Can see by his giant smile that he LOVES it!
  3. Glad you guys are OK!
  4. Agreed! Skill is what's important, the rest is just personal preference...
  5. Prices have to come down...it was just the "new craze"... Like the iPad/iPhone's...they all get cheaper as they see the compitition bring out stronger products for less money. If they don't bring the prices down, they wil lose bussiness. I just hope it happens SOON!
  6. Man, that sux! Hope they catch the bugger! Maybe you should change your nic to "igotRobbed" Seriously though...I'll keep an eye open in the Gardens area too.
  7. ...and I mean BIG bumbs! Where soft suspension would compress alot and almost sling you over the handlebars... (just had to add that before someone tells me I am not making sense) I feel the harder suspension shoots you out of these tricky situations, but it takes a while to get use to it. (personal preference I suppose) It is still soft enough to eliminate the smaller bumps though.
  8. Thanx for this topic HAWK...I wanted to kno these things a LOOOOOONGGG time ago! So Reba seams to be the best bang for your buck! I actually prefer the harder suspension, as it gives me more control when I hit the big bumps, or do hard breaking. What do you guys think about the Manitou R7?
  9. hahaha...I don't trust myself when it comes to getting the perfect seal, so it rely on my LBS to do it... OK, OK...I might be a little lazy too!
  10. Warrantee!? Sorry for going off topic, but does bikes come with a warrentee? I have bought 2 bikes from a well known bike shop, and was never informed of any warrentees...
  11. I had a little incident this weekend at the TruCape race...hit a deep hole at high speed, my entire body weight and bike weight was taken by the frontwheel. I did a few rolls and tumbles down the mountain as I went over the handle bars, the bike stayed in the knee-deep hole. As I walked back to the bike I was expecting the worst...but it was still true, with all the spokes intact! My wheels are Shimano XT... I need to say that it was a great buy,as they have taken quite a beating but still performs brilliantly!
  12. off with his head!!!
  13. "Both are great fun and not one is significantly better than the other" +1!!! Congrats on the Epic finish!
  14. The "cool-factor"...
  15. interesting read... I've got black spokes too!
  16. I agree with Jeepdude! The winners of the Epic has big sponsers behind them as they have been performing well for a while... They did not end in the top 15 BECAUSE of the 29ers they were on, but more because of their form. They were just riding what the sponsers supplied... The finishing order would most probably have looked the same even if the riders were allowed to choose their own bike. I own a 26" HT & love it to bits! Have tried a friend's 29er and it felt fine too...so personal preference should inform your buyng decisions. I suggest the "Try-before-you-buy" days, (or borrow some bikes from your friends and check what works for you) "and if that doesn't go down well...you can always have a Savannah"
  17. 1.91 m 86 kg on a large frame!
  18. Sorry...meant East London...
  19. Damn!! I was really hoping this would be legit! Thank you for your input Hubbers!

  21. The name he used was "John Mathe" and his email adress: trekbikes@ymail.com
  22. I found this exact guy on Gumtree + CapeAds + others... Contacted him asking where he is based as I do not trust shipping stuff from people I dont know... He then told me he has a shop in Bloubergstrand Cape Town (I told him I live in the Cape City Bowl area) He said it would take 2 working days for delivery and I should just deposit the full amount into his account! I said I don't trust it, so I have to see the bike before I pay ANYTHING! He said sure I can see the bike...I asked for the address the nect day, he gave it. When I emailed to orgonize a time (the next day), he said he's sorry, but they moved to Free State!? (all of a sudden!?) (don't know how he shipped an entire shop in one night) So I bluffed and said: That's brilliant! I have a meeting there tomorrow! See you there. He replied and said it's fine, giving me the adress you spoke about above...(was he calling my bluff?) I think it is a scam!!!!
  23. Yip...happens to me too! (can't even add a CRAZY MAD face)
