  1. I would say Yes, if: 1. You are on Discovery, and are chasing points; 2. You do other sports like running, hiking, swimming etc; 3. You have interest in recording and monitoring activity levels throughout the day, not just workouts. (Even sleep time and quality are available for analysis); 4. You are having Iphone battery longevity issues on longer rides; 5. You enjoy post ride data analysis; 6. You just want it.
  2. Yes! And they are fantastic guys to deal with.
  3. Then feel free to criticize her professional endeavours, if you think you can justifiably do so. But, her private life should be outta bounds, even to non fans.
  4. Aaaaaargh !
  5. So I repeated the experiment in last night's workout, and did not experience the same drop in recorded hr when standing. In fact, I found the wrist HR to be pretty consistent with measurements from many similar workouts on the idt, with the chest strap paired to my 510, so I revoke any perceived criticism to this effect. This time I made the strap a tad tighter, so maybe it was not snug enough around my wrist on the first day out.
  6. Hi @Izak I have another question, if you don't mind. If I pair the fenix 3 to my Ant + chest strap, will the watch automatically read hr from the strap when it is in range, or must I disable the wrist HR first?
  7. Do I need to take the whole family to do the Dischem thing, before I qualify for the full 25% cash back on healthy gear @ sportsmans?
  8. Thanks Izak, much appreciated. That is too much of a ball ache to do on an on going basis, and I guess no real purpose to it, as all the data is in any event on gc and on strava. I think, whats done on the fenix will stay on the fenix, and the same goes for the for the 510.
  9. Congrats TH, may you use it in good health! I also picked one up last week from Autostyle, and have had loads of fun with it this weekend learning the features. Its an amazing piece of kit, I must say that I was a tad dissapointed that the wrist HR monitor does not pick up heart rate in the pool. I see now that sportsmans are selling a water hr strap, but I dont feel like dropping another 2K on it. Anyway, I got the Saphire HR. I did some interesting experimenting on the idt yesterday with the wrist heart rate sensor. I broadcast the heart rate from the watch to my 510, and climbed on the idt. Interestingly, I noted a significant drop in heart rate measurement when standing, which, is of course the complete opposite of what really happens. But, as soon as I sat down again, the hr went up. Hence, my conclusion is that when standing, either the angle of ones hand, or maybe the inhibition of blood flow to the palm, temporarily interferes with the measurement, and takes it totally out whack. I am going to carry on with this experiment, once my hr strap, which is giving me grief, is fixed or replaced. The noob question I have is that I have not figured out how to download workouts from garmin connect to the fenix unit. When it syncs, it uploads workouts recorded on the watch - no prob. But, it does did not download the ride i did using the 510, even though it is on garmin connect. There seems to be no indication in the user manual as to how to do this. Anyone have any idea?
  10. Crazy and inequitable that your 2 hour swim gets you same points as the dude who swipes and drinks a smoothie.

  13. What an awesome ride, I loved every minute of the 35km which was 40km, which in the end turned out to be 36.7km. Will Discovery automatically award event points, or do you have to manually apply?
  14. Wow, online entries are still open.i thought i had missed out! Looking forward! [emoji106]
  15. Lol. He was pissed. I sucked his wheel from the top of suikerbossie, and then I sprinted for the finish. And got a coke before him in the queu. [emoji23]
  16. Mine too. But i never rode anything longer than the Argus, and I always come 29 546th.
  17. May I ask what device you are using for swimming. I have recently yanked out my old Polar 725x for this purpose- BUT the watch does not pick HR from the transmitter whilst the latter is under water. I have to stand up between laps for it to see heart rate. The result is that I am still only getting 100 points for the gym swipe.
  18. I'm in!
  19. Gerald, thanks. So. You get the opp to earn 7200 points for being diabetic?
  20. Serving Ricoffy at the office is an unfair Labour practice
  21. Garmin synching seems to be on the blink again? Yesterday's and today's data don't reflect. Anyone else experiencing this?
  22. Your congrats would have been timely 90 007km ago [emoji106] Edit: i reckon temp gauge is smoking its socks
  23. Hmm, I am in IL. [emoji24]Gerald, is that the last group?
  24. That's great news, kudos! Those coal trucks really scare me. Hope there wont be any white line crossing heroes, pushing their way back into the bunch, when they realize they have put themselves into mortal danger from oncoming traffic.
