  1. it doesn’t seem right that road cycling and MTB are both treated as a “cycling event”. 50km mountain biking is not at all equal to 50km of road.
  2. I rode past one toppie who was pushing a gravel bike on a VERY bumpy grassy section. Dunno if he punctured or if that particular part of the terrain was not rideable on his steed, but he did not look like a very happy camper. Anyway, it was a great morning out. I will be back for the winter iteration for sure.
  3. Cool, thanks Ben. [emoji1303]
  4. I haven’t received a sms or email with my race number? Do we just rock up and collect number board?
  5. Entered! [emoji4]
  6. I don’t get the need to resort to this - the targets are easy to achieve. Ride sat, sun, and do an hour on the idt on Monday and you are sorted for the week. Even you do nothing else in the week, you can still easily make up the extra 300 points in steps by Friday. I am a bad athlete, and a slow heavy rider, but i usually have my 900 points done and dusted by Monday or Tuesday.
  7. How do you expect me to get 45 kudos per ride from nondescript people who I don’t know around the world who sustain my self esteem? Your’e cruel [emoji23]
  8. I do this. The prob is that it results in duplicate uploads (from GC and Zwift) to Strava, which are a ball ache to maintain.
  9. Yes, I love this event!
  10. I have entered and paid etc. but its not on racetec. Is this normal or should i take it up with the powers that be?
  11. I have a only had one or two small fender bender type claims - but the admin is slick, and no bs. They actually drive you mad to get the car assessed and booked in to the panelbeater.
  12. Shaper, I hear you and actually agree with you. I am also pretty phlegmatic about the loss of a couple of coffees per se, but the “event” is part of (what I perceive as) a general trend. Higher premiums, higher co-payments, refusal to pay for chronic meds which are not on Discovery’s generics approved list, Mad self payment gaps. Put another way. We sell our workout data to Discovery for smoothies, Apple watches, and boosted flights and shoes. Now they are paying less for the same data. Ergo, they win. And, I think those PnP vouchers will be few and far between.
  13. Yeah, I also got 4, but I think that is only a once off appeasement kinda thing. Anyway, I klapped smoothies for secretary, driver, bookkeeper, and the wife’s aunt -all in one go, and was hellavu pleased with myself, till I forgot about them and the harsh braking jawl on the way back to the office. 4 x Peanut butter bombs becoming intimately acquainted with front passenger carpet fabric was an unbelievable mood lifter. Not.
  14. I had a really great team. Got 2 coffees every week without fail. Now i will get only get 1 per week with a “ surprise” cup every third week. Anyway, I suppose I dont mind getting screwed, it like my ever expanding self payment gap, I guess. But it irritates when they naai you and dress it up with nice spin so you get excited about it. Surprise spin se gat. I got another coffee. No exotic holiday or belly dancer for me. Ah well, maybe in 3 weeks.
  15. Maybe this is a bit Mr X-ish, but perhaps last year’s cancellation, the shitty economy, the massive expense for out of towners, and fears for the worsening water crisis have all contributed to the reduced demand this year?
  16. Nice reply, thank you. I also only run the Garmin for Discovery points, but the con in doing this is that I get duplicate uploads on Strava. It would be good if Discovery would accept Zwift data, though i don't see that happening anytime soon.
  17. Of late, I have noticed that distances cycled as recorded by Zwift do not tally with that recorded by either of my Garmin devices (a 510 and a Fenix 3) - and there is quite a significant differential! the background : 1. I Zwift using the Bluetooth functionality of my Kikr to connect to my Ipad; 2. I simultaneously connect the idt using Ant + to one of my Garmin devices (sometimes both, depending on how anal I am feeling); 3. I have a Garmin speed / cadence sensor which is also connected to both the 510 and the fenix 3; 4. The longer the ride it seems, the more of whack the Garmin is with the Zwift reading. Also, flatter routes produce Zwift results which are more compatible with the the Garmin. By way of example, today Zwift told me I rode 50km. Garmin recorded 46km. Last week I did a 3 hour endurance ride, which Zwift recorded at 103.7km. Garmin saw only 92 km. More than a 10% variance, which is crazy. Anyway, I have been thinking some on this conundrum, and then the other night, coming down Box Hill, I saw Zwift clocking mad speeds, even though I was hardly pedaling. Then it hit me, that Zwift dictates performance (meaning speed) speed by means of W/kg : ergo it uses the same algorithm to determine distance. All of which has me wondering: when Zwift takes me on a 40km ride, have I really done those 40km? Anyone have similar or contradictory observations to share?
  18. A shoutout for Anatomic. i ordered custom kit for my mates and I for Amashova, and the whole process was flawless. I am really happy with the end product, and got fantastic service from Elton. Thank you
  19. The positive energy generated by this post will inspire me to work for an Argus PR. Thank you [emoji4]
  20. I entered last night, with no prior application for approval or fokkol. Just put in my credit card details and I was in.
  21. SARS MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT From SARS: "Pretoria, 6 July 2017 - SARS would like to thank all those taxpayers who have already submitted their Income Tax Returns. As of 08:00 this morning 341 356 taxpayers have submitted their returns. The majority, 243 388 were submitted using eFiling, while 97 968 have submitted at a SARS branch. It is important for taxpayers expecting a refund to note that SARS has this year implemented additional risk processes to ensure both the legitimacy and accuracy of the refunds paid. SARS has an obligation to both taxpayers as well as to the fiscus to ensure that fraudulent and invalid claims are stopped. We are aware that taxpayers have an expectation that once they submit a return which results in a refund that this would be paid to them shortly thereafter. It must though be noted that such refunds can only be paid once all SARS processes have been concluded. SARS is committed to ensure that legitimate refunds are paid as soon as possible."
  22. Prepare for more ball ache, especially if you are a provisional tax payer. http://www.thesait.org.za/news/352879/SARS-has-a-bigger-mountain-of-paperwork-for-you-to-climb-this-tax-season.htm
  23. Yeah, I don't expect they will make it too easy to jump between the regimes, as one maxes out ones fitness points
  24. Sorry I missed this. What's next in Howteng?
