  1. Nooooooooo!
  2. But then I did this to it this morning: The Mavics ate up my derailleur which in turn killed the dropout which is non replaceable on this frame. Does anyone know if it can be repaired or is it time for SS conversion and a new frame?
  3. My bike after the respray. Its a Scott Scale 20 Frame btw. Was going to do the decals this week...
  4. Just because I am not doing much, here is the MBR brake review you should have a look at, got it down to 9mb: http://www.mediafire.com/?sbah66dobk2ii I bought the X0's a few months ago, really happy with them. Compared to the older Avids, stupid niggles like aligning calipers are non existent. Had the older Shimano XT's, can't say they were bad but these are lighter and easier to bleed IMO. New XT won the review, but I like the build of the X0 more so I went with those. Formula and the rest are in there too, check it out.
  5. I wonder what the Momsen looks like under that matte black paint?
  6. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/disc-brake-systems/ If you guys havent seen this.
  7. My old new bike.
  8. Hello fellow hubbers. Been trying to do some research but not getting a clear answer. I have a full SRAM X9 9speed system on my bike. I have a X9 10speed Rear mech I want to replace the 9 speed mech with. Can this be done? Apparently the pull ratios are slightly different.
  9. There are plenty of options guy. If you are in the woodmead area check out Solomons - they have holdfast, thule and saris last I checked, and Thule is also right across the road. I bought a removable towbar from Thule for around 3k for my 1 series - I doubt it will be more than that for the clio. Towbar is the way to go since the rack is easily removable to dump in the boot.
  10. Nope, bought it off my friend, his dad made it. Will check if he has anymore.
  11. Maybe, but still needs some branding
  12. Nope not keeping it plain, will be some branding on there soon. Still deciding what I want to do. But happy to be done away with the white. The previous paint job was really shoddy.
  13. So lots of wet sandpaper, went all the way down to 150grit and finished off with 1200grit. Plascon Touch Up Auto paint in a spray can - works like a bomb but probably would have worked better if the weather was better. Rustoleum Satin Black to do the front Hammerite(cant remember how to spell it) to paint the cable hangers and dropouts etc. and some other bits and pieces. Just need to get the rubbing compound to clean a drip or 2. And thats that. Was damn hard work, but happy that I did it.

  15. More...
  16. So since I twisted my ankle last week, I decided to take on the job of sanding and respraying my Scott Scale frame. Finished putting the bike back together last night, and still deciding on decals etc. Total cost so far is around R500 materials and about 6-7 hours of hard labour with all the sanding.
  17. Me too, X0 Brakes with Shimano centrelocks. You use the spacers, then the washers to fine tune where the pad bites the rotors.
  18. That kit is great, Solomons Woodmead had some on special a while back, think I paid R600 or R700 for it.
  19. But carbon never shows any signs of stress - it just snaps. Like that Santa Cruz video from a while back. Awesome vid showing why carbon is stronger than aluminium. But yes, I have my bar for about a year now, after seeing some photos online I do get a bit nervous using them - but its Ritchey so should last a while longer and haven't had any hectic knocks or crashes in a long time - touch wood.
  20. Yeah I bought that tube which was over R120, you only need a bit so a little sachet is cool for 1 or 2 applications. It does have an abrasive action so just be careful sliding your bar around in the clamp.
  21. http://www.finishlineusa.com/products/product-images/Fiber_Grip_Family_th.jpg I think you just need to see what your bike shop has in stock.
  22. This thread doubled in size from this morning. Where is Mr. Bornman? Very keen to see what he has to say about this.
  23. Did you use some Carbon grease when installing? To be safe maybe get a bike shop to tighten it to the 5nm. But I think the creak is probably from it being loose or lack of carbon grease.
  24. When I fitted my Ritchey bars I read in the instruction leaflet provided that you should change your carbon products every 3 years - seems a waste since they more than likely cost at least 2x the price of their alu counterparts. This morning I saw the Ritchey Superlogic Seatpost for almost 2.5k on CWC, who spends this kind of cash? And yes, if you buying carbon make sure its a branded reputable product, not these fong kong jobs.
  25. You guys are forgetting about Ritchey http://cart.cyclecraftsg.com/images/ritchey_superlogic_fb.jpg
