  1. Very nice!
  2. Damn, I hate handing my bike over to any bike shop - unless I have to. Bought all the kit and do everything myself, making a few mistakes along the way - like spilling mineral oil on a set of my brake pads But now I can do everything - and all the tools cost the same as 2 or 3 services. Spongy brakes - maybe the mechanic pressed the lever while the wheel was off, and popped the pistons out. Or doesn't know how to bleed.
  3. 'thehubsa' is my secret shop
  4. Yo I have the X king protection at the back, also had the same issue. Losing pressure everyday - basically deflated without unseating the tire, added some more stans, pumped it up. Then horizontally swing it like a hoola hoop sort of action Spinning the tire will not seal small leaks on the sidewall; you must shake the wheel to slosh sealant onto the sidewalls. Mine has been fully inflated for the last 2 weeks, no issues. I am using UST Mavics. Haven't had one puncture yet.
  5. Yeah very nice ride, started from Braamfontein yesterday, to avoid all the stop starts from last month, but its way too short. Dunkeld it is next month again. Oh and damn there was a lot of people with bikes!
  6. Your bike looks amazing.
  7. I still have them. But they had some strange gashes in the rubber and the sidewalls were brittle. Kept them to find out if they're still ok.
  8. I shall consider it.
  9. This is what I have done so far. Polished everything as best I could, just need to setup the brakes.
  10. Hey guys Inherited this Hansom bike from my very generous cousin. Spent some time stripping and cleaning up all the bits and pieces and had the frame powder coated because of some surface rust. Never been on a road bike before until last week, very strange coming from a MTB. Apart from a few parts that needed replacing all is good. Will be using it at Critical Mass this Friday. Below are the before photos.
  11. Melvin is the main dude, and has a nice bike too!
  12. Cant wait, signed up 3 more riders too
  13. Damn, hes gonna get a proper ass whooping when he gets home.
  14. Since I like Scott so much... http://citycycles.co.za/images/stories/virtuemart/product/2013%20scott%20scale%20940%20-%2029er.jpg Unfortunately this is all i could find...and some mention of a Scale RC 650b model
  15. Give Solomons a call, I know they got a bunch of Trek models in stock now.
  16. But we have to tell someone what we ride, our partners don't know and don't care. Scott Scale 20 Medium
  17. got my kit at Morningside Cycles. Seems most places want you to send it in. Also try Summit Cycles, they had some this morning I think.
  18. Did the RP23 last night. Valve core was fine but a little green with corrosion, but the air chamber inner seals were off the guides. Not sure how that happened but its hopefully sorted now. Its crazy how simple a device it is - probably alot more complex inside the damper. My friend weighs in at around 105kg, not sure if this played a role or maybe it was just time to service. Besides it popping off and making a loud bang when taking the outer casing off(used the rag to stop it shooting into the window), all was pretty simple to do. Tomorrow we do the fork seals.
  19. Had the SDG Belair which came with my GT, that was really comfortable, then swopped to a WTB Rocket V which was the same level. Now I ride a Gobi, took a while to get used to but thats definitely the one.
  20. Damn, thats crazy.
  21. Doing this on the weekend: Fox RP23 Seals http://youtu.be/vb8BNsFcINQ Fox Float 32 Seals http://www.bikeradar...-32-fork-25020/ Looks easy enough, got both sets of seals for R600, just waiting for the Fox Float Oil. I am sure if you shop around or online you could get them cheaper. RP23 lost all pressure on the weekend, my friend is a heavy fella. Supposedly its the valve core or the seals which need replacing, will do both.
  22. I was at Solomons yesterday, someone called bout these tyres as well...maybe one of you guys. They said the suppliers don't get any stock because Conti International don't supply quotas, they've been waiting since mid last year. Their loss I guess. Bought the 26" X-King Protection for the back, will see how that works out, looks like a solid tyre.
  23. I went from a 660mm Riser to a 580mm carbon straight bar, big difference in handling and control, just a little bit unstable on the descents but getting used to it and prefer it. Will get the ODI extenders when they get here to extend it to around 600mm. Running a 90mm stem as well. This is on my 26" Hardtail.
  24. I try to but its hard not to use them
