  1. Yeah I know, got the Crossmax SL set for way cheaper. Only thing I am missing from the Crosstrails is the new hubs with the dual quick release and through axle system. I have a quick release fork so doesn't bother me much. Also they look like better wheels than the crosstrails, hopefully nothing much has changed from 2009 to now. Anyways, lets see how they run, has to be better than what I had originally.
  2. Those were my 2nd option...these are cooler I reckon - wanted factory built in the end.
  3. Managed to find some brand new 2009 Mavic Crossmax SL rims. Thanks for the help guys, was cheap and should do the job.
  4. Anything Mavic or American Classic? Not keen on Shimano. The ZTR might be cool but I am swaying towards factory built wheelsets right now.
  5. Thanks for the help, you guys are like the voices in my head...not one clear cut winner.
  6. Hello everyone On Sunday I did a couple of laps at Rietvlei, and managed to somehow buckle my 5yr old rear wheel, the rim needs to be replaced. Basically, it's already been respoked and had the rear hub replaced. I think its time to buy something new and fresh, because these wheels have had their day. They were WTB Speed Discs with Shimano 525 hubs and DT swiss spokes I think, off a 2006 GT Avalanche. Anyways, I have been looking at a few options: 1. Mavic Crosstrail UST 2. Fulcrum Red Metal 3 3. Easton EA70 XC 4. American Classic MTB 26 Wheelset 5. DT Swiss X1800 6. Mavic Crossride 7. DT Swiss XR30(off a Scott Spark 30) I wanted to spend around 2k but it seems not much is available for that kind of cash. So I am willing to fork out around 3-4k for a decent set of wheels. Most sales people I spoke to said I should go with the Mavics. I am pretty much an intermediate XC rider and I weigh around 75-80kg. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Not too many bikes but some nice legs
  8. Im pretty new to all this racing licence jargon but do we all have to register with the CSA to race? or is there another party to support? They do sound a bit dodgy from what I have read in the last few weeks.
  9. That is crazy, we saw all the cyclists on the way to Northern Farm on Saturday morning...make sure you're part of a group if you're gonna be riding around there.
  10. Yeah see you there mofos
  11. Yes and that, break that piggy bank.
  12. Just my 2 cents but Tread Mag reviewed the Schwinn Moab in the latest issue, for around the same price, and it had similar kit to the Fuji. Maybe check that out too. There is also the Silverback route but not too sure how good those frames are. Solomons in Woodmead are always very helpful - maybe give them a call and speak to Agter if you still keen on the Fuji 011 802 0514.
  13. Could be part of a movie script!

  16. http://chrisking.com/hubs 7k for a part that only has a 5yr warranty? wouldnt it be cheaper to buy something every 2 years? Anyways, this means its still covered...I would mail them directly instead of dealing with the local suppliers.
