  1. You will have to approach the maintenance court asap to reduce the order. If you make an arrangement it is not sufficient and she can actually open criminal cases as well as proceed with execution processes irrespective of an agreement in place.
  2. You can't go wrong with Rapide. Loving mine!!!
  3. Oh my that is nice!!! I would love the new frame
  4. I see yours and raise you: She handles like a razor blade, perfect, accurate, responsive and if you f@ck it up she hurts you!!
  5. Just a heads-up, when booking a holiday to specific islands or resorts it is worthwhile checking travel agents. They get some exclusive deals which you cannot beat.
  6. Bit late to the party but just in time for valentines. Check out Momsen's STR range. I'm itching to replace my old one with the new frame!!!
  7. Not too long ago you had to register a bicycle and pay your annual registration fees. But with that being said there are 2 classes of cyclists, those that train or choose to commute via bicycle and those that have no alternate form of transport. The majority of those that train or choose to commute via bicycle are already paying registration fees for their motor vehicle(s).Therefore everyday that they travel via bike, the get less and less value for money on the registration fee. Will this then be reimbursed? With those that have no alternative form of transport: Who is the ass thinking that these people who already live on the bear minimum will be giving away money? Now just to get to the basics here: Motorists do not pay "Road tax", they pay registration fees, licencing fees and fuel levies.
  8. I love my HT, and will be converting it to gears for the S2C. Where does one still find decent 2.1 tyres? Anything wider does not fit in my old frame.

    RIFLE

Ahhh that is horrible. Some advice, especially on the first few visits check your silencer and scope screws about every 10 shots, takes them a bit to settle. On the scope clamp, make sure you stick to the prescribed torque, you do not want to crush the tube. Put a target at 25m, and just get the scope's horizontal adjustment sorted (it will most likely shoot low so do not worry about vertical). From there distance is merely a vertical click(s), so to run it out to 100m etc is easy.
  10. Some Shimano x11 & x12 speed kits please!!! Also something on the Grips?
  11. Yup it is a steel frame , only way to go on a HT!!!! Thanx for the advice guys, think I'm sold on setting up the Momsen into a geared setup. Will start keeping an eye open. PS. If anyone has a decent fork lying around (straight steerer) please let me know. I have a Hope Hub so easy to change the cones to accommodate any axle.
  12. Good morning Guys & Gals After my 29" Momsen SS build about 2 or 3 years back I have severely neglected my 26" Merida Dualy. I will be doing the Sani2C this year, and thought about reviving my 26" rather than slapping gears and a suspension fork on the Momsen (Maybe this is an option?). Herewith my plans: Service the suspension & pivots; Upgrade the 3x9 to maybe a 1x11? New tyres; What be your advice on the gear setup change on the 26"? Or would you rather recommend that I change the setup on the HT SS to rather run gears?
  13. If you can get them in 27.5, have a look at the Vittoria Barzo/Saguaro combo. Spectacular tyres, I have put them through hell with only 1 sidewall cut to date.
  14. I have built my fair share of wheels back in my trials days. Used to lace them myself, then pop by Bruce Reynecke to have them trued, I didn't have a stand for that and not the space for a DIY one as a student sharing a flat. From what I have learnt over the years, you cannot possibly hope to get to the same quality as a pro builder, therefore they either have to re-do what you have done or you will get a good-ish wheel if you do not know what you are doing. My advice would be: 1) Buy your fancy hub and rim, take it to Nick (Wheelbuilder) or Anton (Summit Cycles) or anyone else who knows what they are doing and have it done properly the first time. Lot less swearing, scratching and effort involved. 2) Buy yourself a cheap ass wheel off the 2nd hand classifieds, disassemble it, buy a case of beer, keep Youtube by your side and practice on that.
  15. Mmmmmmmm, steel OK, back to the thread. Steel frames are awesome, but require some extra effort when down at the coast. They rust, and seatposts get stuck!!! Personally, I like the way a raw steel frame ages. It develops a patina of sorts, which I then lightly smooth out when it's time and just clear coat the frame. If you want colour, they a DIY job (preferably with Rustoleum), will cost you in the region of R1k. Each bottle of spray costs around R150.00 if memory serves, and you start on 3 bottles, for a single colour (primer, colour & clear). The add paint stripper, brushes, steal wool, sandpaper etc and you reach R1k quick!!!! Also if the boredom hits, go check out a product that they call "frame saver" (I think), this is a EU product that apparently helps against rust on the inside of the frame.
  16. I'm not a big guy at all, my weight fluctuates between the 85kg-90kg mark, with the odd occasion up to 92kg's. I do however have an extremely sensitive butt!! Went through a couple of saddles which included the Arione, a couple of Spaz models and the Rapide. Rapide wasn't bad but still got uncomfortable after about 2 hours in the saddle. Friend of mine convinced me to get a Brooks 17 Narrow, have not looked back!!!! It took about 2 months of "breaking in" (not sure who broke, me or the saddle), but now I love it and it only gets better!!! Can easily go out for a quick hour ride in whatever I have on without the need to change to bibs. I come from a horseriding background, and the leather just makes sense. I used to spend hours a week, probably about 20, on a saddle, and the saddle shaped around me. If someone else got on it would not be comfy at all!!!
  17. It totals up extremely quick. I see the frame alone is R5500.00. My build is: Momsen STR: R5500.00 Hope hubs, cheap'ish spokes, rapide rims, Vittoria tyres: I reckon this is around R8k. Carbon fork: R3500.00 XT brakes: R3300.00 Brooks seat: R1300.00 Crankset (SLX): ????? Cockpit: R2000.00 Chain: R150.00
  18. For how much did you end up putting it on for? Just did the calculation for mine, will cost me around R24k to replace... This is for parts only and excludes any import costs (postage etc) if I cannot find the parts local.
  19. Yah it's insane!!!! Issue however is that many of the guys build up a project with secondhand parts, making it hard to get certificates or proof of purchase, hence me finding out at what value you need slips With that being said I am miles out of pocket and will most likely be able to replace my bike with second hand parts for R20k. Rapide rims laced onto Hope hubs, incl tyres, are most likely around R10k alone these days
  20. Im with Santam, my STR is insured for replacement value, which is just over R20k. I insured mine for R19 999.99, no proof of purchase is required, just proof of ownership. I took detailed photo's of each part of the bike, plus 2 selfies of myself next to the bike, sent to broker and he's got it on record. PS. When insuring for replacement value, make sure what the parts cost. These SS toys of ours cost a lot more to build than we would ever like to admit!!!
  21. Not sure about price these days but the easiest and cheapest option is most likely to buy a new nr9 and just move the ring over.
  22. Some advice from my side. Buy yourself 100 postal pigeons and run for the hills. I have a Telkom Mobile modem, which is amazing in the cities and horrible in the smaller towns. My CellC works a treat in most places, but I have 0 reception in the middle of Sandton. Also out on the plot the calls drop once you hit 5 mins connection time. With Vodacom I have pending litigation where they failed to cancel my contract at time of buy out, allocated a new number (screw FICA right?) and just continued billing me. So in short, none are perfect. Pick the town you are planning in being in most of the town and go door to door doing a census, this is most likely your best option. PS. When you cancel Telkom get your attorney briefed and on standby. I have a client who cancelled his contract, which was running month to month, via email, online and in store. Telkom failed to cancel after the 30 day period and continued billing him for a couple more months, and gave him extra benefits like fixed line rental on a cell account. Then continued to list him with ITC for non payment and handed him over for debt collection. So now we are fighting that as well.
  23. Swing past City Rock in Cpt. Their Randburg branch does stock 510 climbing shoes, they might be able to order you a set, but they also stock Addidas' Terrex range with the Conti tread (which many trials riders use).
  24. Disclaimer: I did not read pages 2-5 of this thread. Short answer: Roadbike makes it a bit easier, less rolling resistance, less weight, less time for talking sheyt on the route. I did the 94.7 on my SS mtb spec'd with my standard setup and saguaro barzo tyre combo at 3 bar. I had one hell of a jol on the ride (granted I was fairly fit at the time), finished the ride in around 5 hours, a whole bunch of tequila's (thanx to the guys on Malibongwe) and a couple of beers later. Unless you are planning on breaking a PB or keeping up with a specific group just keep your bike as is and go enjoy the ride!
  25. If you haven't noticed yet I'm a bit of a CRKT fan , with the M16 speartip being one of my all time favorites! Please let us know how it works. At that price I'll be very keen to add one to the collection. PS. You get a CRKT axe as well. For the price I'm not sold yet but damn it is pretty:
