  1. Are you looking for 30cm on the dot or just 30cm+? Here's a few options from Sharp Edge: https://www.sharpedge.co.za/crkt-ken-onion-halfachance-parang https://www.sharpedge.co.za/ontario-sp8-survival-machete https://www.sharpedge.co.za/m48-ops-machete https://www.sharpedge.co.za/ka-bar-cutlass-machete-w-sheath https://www.sharpedge.co.za/crkt-chanceinhell-machete-bead-blast-blade-w-powder-coat-10 PS. That CRKT is on my shopping list for Christmas!!
  2. This is a bit more complex and one will have to look into the relationship ito reciprocal enforcement of orders between the countries. Certain parts of the orders can be enforced for instance Maintenance if there is an agreement between the countries, however other parts not necessarily. I have not dealt with NZ but have dealt with Lichtenstein on a Curatorship order granted in SA. We had to bring an application in Lichtenstein in which the Court there confirmed the contents of our SA order and incorporated it into a new order.

This surprised me a fair bit. Thought it will be in the same range as the 7mm. As a hunting rifle they very rarely see these rounds counts. BUT with the long range shooting comps and the issue of keeping dedicated status creeps in you see people shooting more often. A friend of mine does the Long range comps, I forgot the exact number of shots over a weekend (which then excludes training etc) he recons he'll kill his 6.5 CM's barrel in a bit over 18 months! Then accuracy will start dropping, will most likely not be noticed at 200m for a while but definitely at 1.6km!

Some bad news on my side. Turns out the guys at Safari is battling to get Tikka 300 wsm's in stock. The back order has stayed unfulfilled for months now. Meaning back to the drawing board I go: Do I stick with the caliber I want, and change platforms, or do I go with a different caliber in the same platform? Reason why I chose the Tikka: It had a nice feel to it, bolt was smooth, came with a bull barrel, picatinny rails make life awesome for scope attachment and the front end of the stock is flat enough to allow decent contact with the bi-pod. I see the Savage LR hunter is in the same price category, comes with a an adjustable trigger however no picatinny rails and normal barrel.

Have the barrel checked and then buy it!!! Remember the faster calibers have a nasty habit of damaging the tip of the barrel over time.

These are two completely different creatures!!!! Caliber traits differ by miles and even more so the physical characteristics (normal barrel vs bull, wood vs synthetic). The Ruger indeed is a thing of beauty! What makes it even a more compelling purchase is that it comes with dies and brass. The Howa is a more modern version and will weigh a fair bit more. I like the fact that it has picatinny rails rails and a bit of work was done to the trigger. Out of the two I would go for the Ruger based on the caliber (flat and fast), I'm not a .308 fan even tho as a working gun I think the Howa may be a better option. Buying secondhand is as DJR stated in very rare occasions a bad thing, just have it checked out properly.

Ooooh do not go down that route. R1k always leads to for R1k more/less I can get this or that. That's how people end up on R100k rifles!!! Depending on the budget, and for a good "it looks pretty and it works" rifle I would look at the Howa 1500 models. Black plastic body (which is prettier than the remington IMO) and a stainless bull barrel to give it the bling factor. My choice however would be the Tikka Super Varmint (and yes I am biased, have one on the way in 300wsm PS. how do you know someone owns a 300, they tell ya!!!). It's not as pretty as the Howa but the Tikka has a bit more adjustability in the stock, easier to add on adjustable butt plates at a later stage, and a decent size magazine.

I don't own a plastic stock myself but have many friends that do and none of them have complaints that I know of. It's not as pretty but handles knocks and scratches a lot better!!! One question you need to answer for yourself before you commit to any rifle, build or calibre, is: What is the rifle's purpose? Is it a "showpiece" or a "tool"? This will govern that rifle's life going forward. Showpiece: Go wood stock, lovely engraving, if funding allows a pretty scope like a Zeiss. You will also most likely end up getting a nice leather sling, leather gun bag and some bling parts like copper sling studs etc. If the rifle is a tool: Get a stock that suits your needs, wood, plastic, alu whatever. Get a solid scope & bipod and you'll most likely end up with a nylon bag and webbing style sling. When it comes to guns there is no right or wrong. Much like you would not prefer to do the 94.7 on a DH bike (it's possible but not preferred) you will prefer not to shoot a springbuck at 300m with a 416 Rigby. So get something that will fulfil the purpose you need it for.
  9. I have never owned a pair of crossmarks, but from the tread pattern I will guess that they are not ideally suited to a front tyre. That being said a friend of mine runs a Crossmark in the back and Ardent in the front and he's happy with it.
  10. Very good chance that you rand out of talent and that your mind is just telling you it's the tyres. We have all been there and have multiple t-shirts to confirm the story. As for tyres: There are many many many options on the market. Personally run a Vittoria Saguaro/Barzo combo, which I love!!!! Get tubeless, this is not a request nor a proposal but rather an order with your best interest at heart! Secondly match the tyres and treat to your environment.
  11. Think the price would be fair if the toobless was sorted, as for the rest I think its a good price as you cannot build that bike for R18k new. Tyres/tubeless would be the only "negotiating" point I would take if I was an interested buyer. Issues are as follow IMO: 1) Economy is crappy at the moment, less people buying toys; 2) Frame is a medium, we all know SS riders are big muscular men with beards that only ride L's;

BAD idea!!! Long story short gun powder and primers are licensed items. You cannot keep, store, carry or buy these without a valid licence for the specific caliber, and by doing so can get you into loads of issues! Furthermore lets say for argument sake you hold a 9mm licence and can legally buy ammo, primers and powder for it, these are no more use than an airsoft pistol with blowback function for training.
  13. Whoohooo!!! If it's not over the weekend of the 20th or the next I'm there like a bear! Missed the previous 2 but seriously planning on doing it this year
  14. Oooooh this is a deep hole you are getting into!!! The world of pimped fixies and SS's are worse than Youtube!!! PS. Are you looking for new or used parts? New I would go: Woodstock Cycles;Rook Cycles;Simple Sam;Fixin Diaries, I see according to google they are based in Soweto now but used to be by the Con Court, bunch of awesome guys ran the store and made a mean coffee!Cajees.Secondhand: Hang around the track clubs;Track section on here;Gumtree
  15. CCMA won't do the trick as they do their utmost best not to deal with outstanding monies. Department of Labour will be your first door to knock on.
  16. What area are you in? Maybe we can help. In Kyalami I recently discovered Carnivores (they are on Olifantsfontein in Blue hills centre). Prices are fairly standard but quality so far is good and the owners are very hands on. Most of the time the ones behind the counter helping you.
  17. Have seen some good prices there. However the hygiene and quality of meat is on the lacking side. If you find a well managed branch they can however be gold, I use to love the one in Pta East, just can't recall the mall's name (out on Garstfontein road). No idea how it's doing these days tho.
  18. There's a part for this: https://www.actionsports.de/en/boost-conversion-kit-hope-pro-2-evo/pro-4-rear-hub-12x148mm-22818 https://www.rushcycles.co.uk/m50b0s472p5924/HOPE-Hope-Pro-4-and-Pro-2-Evo-Rear-hub-Boost-Conversion-Kit Part of why I love Hope, always just a mod and life carries on.
  19. Hope any day of the week. If it's too pricey save until next week and try again. Reliability is there, as stated above and is easy to work on/replace parts etc. BUT the major thing for me comes on the cones, swapping from 9mm QR to through axle to 20mm or whatever is a breeze and last I did this cost me something silly like R150.00. Cones just knock out and install the new ones. This kinda future proofs them...

Nice shooting!!! Was watching a couple of videos over the weekend of .22 long range shooting, guys are knocking targets out to 300m!!!! I've many times considered getting myself a .22 LR but my air rifle does very much the same thing IMO when it comes to plinking. And then for fun I landed a headshot on a dassie at 101m... Big rifles are getting out of hand when it comes to running cost, I'm still waiting for my 300WSM but an estimated cost per round is sitting well in the R15-R22 range at the moment

I would start off by modding the box itself. Cut inlays on the 2 long sides and line them out with material to create a "stand" for the rifle. This is useful when cleaning, working on the rifle but also for general housekeeping for when you walk to the target etc, prevents unnecessary scratches. From there I would go: Ammo tray; Second ammo tray to keep the spent brass; Small toolbox for dedicated tools; Cleaning kit; Flipfile with targets, also shot targets (to prove shooting activity) A pen; Stickers to cover holes, white and black; Masking tape, depending on budget and effort you would like to put into it also get yourself a foldable target stand. A modded "For Sale" sign works a charm... You cut the horizontal parts and then add a small hinge there, folds nice and small. Medic kit; Dedicated space for glasses, earmuffs etc. Spare kit (multiple) of the cheap spongey earplugs from Dischem for other people; Flashlight (even tho it's unlikely that you will ever use it). In mine I also have space for a spare mag for my SD pistol, because 2 is one and 1 is none... And I end up being on the range alone more often than not. PS. Handles - make them the rope type that can hang loosely next to the box during transport etc.

How do I report this post? This is causing severe distress and emotional trauma. I just settled on a GRS stock from my 300 WSM and now you come along posting %$!@ like this?! Back to the reflection room, bottle of whiskey and pro's and con's list of each chassis system... PS. That is sexy!!!

Yah mine works out very cheap. But also I do not run premium parts. Buy casings as and when I get them cheap, mostly shot once before, bullets I run 200gr frontier's which work out to around R1.00 a pop when buying a thousand or so at a time, primers are S&B (which cost around R350-R450 a box of 1000), with powder making up the balance.

Congrats!!! Always an awesome feeling collecting after such a long wait! PS. I'm too lazy to go look at what you got. What did you get? Either way I would suggest you look into doing your DSS and getting a reloading system. On my G21 I dropped the cost per round (now these are only range rounds) from around R6.50 per round to R2.20 (depending on what Cyril does to the rand). By no means is this to save money, as the cheaper the ammo the more you shoot...
