  1. But, here's last night's picture after completing the benches. See, no pink drink *Edit: To add, what do you think of the stained/dirty looking table leg? My fiance reckons I should leave it, but I want to sand it...
  2. You sir, dare not judge a good R&R!!!
  3. Not sure whether my comment is a bit late. We made Blouwildebees (whatever you call the ugly thing in English) fillet with a chimichurri sauce on Sunday as a starter. We opted for lightly basting it with a homemade marinade (3/4 chutney and 1/4 worcester sauce, some chili flakes and black pepper), on a hot fire to a light medium (between medium rare and medium). The chimichurri has a very strong flavour so the odds of killing it with a marinade is unlikely, but too many clashing flavours might be an issue if you choose wrong.
  4. Not even close to the average level of workmanship but here's what I got up to over the weekend. A new outside table. Some assembly required: Need to stay hydrated: Slowly things are taking shape: Mock setup of the table top: After sanding and initial linseed oil coat: Next up is a second linseed oil coat on the table top, and the benches needs to be built.
  5. Welcome to the dark side. However once the bug bites it eats massive chunks of time!! I try limit myself to about 5 games a week, with the new Turbo mode it does make it a bit easier to manage a game a day without my SO shooting me. As for the learning curve, once you understand the basics it goes a lot quicker. I think you're right here. I have been playing Dota (first 1 now 2) since about 2005, and from what I can tell many of the guys still playing are the same guys who played back then. Meaning that the majority of the players have grown up and are past the "I screwed your mom" phase.
  6. In that case my condolences. Was a rough 2 years!!!! My family farms in Burgersdorp, still very little sign of the drought letting up. Enjoy the braai!!!! I'm off to go do veg shopping, got a potjie today!
  7. Has anyone read the new Dan Brown book? I loved his first bunch of books but battled to finish Inferno. Cannot bring myself to commit and buy the new one yet.
  8. Natural selection I tell you. I have watched a fair amount of "prepping" shows. Majority of the people are nuts, however I do believe some of them have a point. Especially considering the current events in SA. I have just always wondered, if all civilization came to an end over night, how long would it take us to notice. As is we only have water when it rains enough, power is intermittent, we had a butter shortage the other day, and our houses are built to keep the raiding hordes out...
  9. I reckon Mongooser was a sure win on starting new topics... Well done Dale, but I think you are neglecting a few things in life bud.
  10. Coffee... On.. Keyboard!!!
  11. With the price of Lamb I assume you posted in the Xmas Bonus thread as well?
  12. Brilliant thanx, will keep in in mind for the future. This morning she's back to her old self. So keeping it slow for the day, and still treating with heat. But her movement is back to normal with no visible discomfort.
  13. On a touring bike I would love one of these:
  14. Hey guys. So my old girl, Rolo, managed to sleep her back skew, you can see the bulge in the muscle and it's tender when you touch. Her hind quarters are uncomfortable and you can see she's having a rough time to get going. Once the muscle's warm up she does straighten up a bit. Do you know of a muscle relaxant I can give her to help? At the moment we are treating with hot water bottle, which seems to help a bit. Odd part is she was fine last night, with no jumping off anything during the night, and just woke up with a crooked back. Getting old is not for sissies!!!
  15. At what H/A does a bike become useful for only going downhill and does it lose it's ability as a decent all round bike? Specifically if you consider Gauteng as the main place it will be used.
  16. Fair point, but as per my first post that is what I wanted and I knew the associated costs. As for your poor decision, out of all the nice bikes to finance a SPAZ?! I hope you feel judged
  17. If you finance for the sake of petting your ego sure it is open to be criticized. Well for that matter you can probably criticize someone in general for spending that on a bike to pet an ego, as the majority of the people riding R120k bikes will never in their life be a podium contender. I could not splash out the R15k, so financed it, worked my rear off and paid it off. Does this now make it the best financial decision? Most probably not, and that was also not the point, I did what worked for me in those circumstances.
  18. People tend to overthink this completely!!! If you can afford the finance, know that you will be paying more in the long run, and still want it get it. I have financed a bike before via credit card, I very well knew that it will be costing me 20% more over a year. I made piece with it, paid it off, and still love the bike!!! Looking back at it, if I were in exactly the same situation I would do it again. Would most likely just shop for a finance company with a lower interest rate, but that's life. I paid the bike off in 4 months and it cost me roughly R1000.00 more on a R15k bike and in those 4 months I spent about 30+hours on it, therefore it cost me R33.00 per hour more than it would have if I had saved up the money.
  19. Haha we almost had a cat fight!!! Luckily for you I have reached my N+1 limit . Wish you many happy miles!!!
  20. Nice!! I saw this frame in the classifieds, clad it got an awesome home!!!
  21. Only remembered about the thread after I just chowed my lunch (early lunch due to no breakfast , so this is gonna be a looooong day!! I made Boerewors "Cottage" pie last night, which leftovers was for lunch. Followed this recipe, http://www.bobsbiltong.co.uk/product.php/sn/RCPWORSCP , but instead of making mash for the cottage pie crust, I used puff pastry to line out the bowl and cover the pie with the rest.
  22. Bleh that sucks!!! Mine only shows the cycle tho, no event: 19/11/2017 Garmin workout: 60+ min workout at 70%+ of max heart rate Higher points awarded for fitness for the day. Garmin workout: 30+ min workout (speed data only) Higher points awarded for fitness for the day. 50 - 99.9 km cycle 600 (600)
  23. Ahhh I see. Just felt weird that you get 300 points for attending a light stroll at a parkrun, and a measly 600 for suffering up Jan Smuts. Anyhow, thought the points was somehow connected to the event itself as a way of encouraging participation in these events. And I only need 2000 odd points to reach gold, so I'm doing everything I can to get that in the next month...
  24. For the guys that did the 947 what amount of points did you receive? I received 600 for cycling that distance, but it makes no reference to the event. I manually logged the event on Vitality but still no feedback.
  25. I actually went completely the opposite direction with no suspension . Ended up building a very pretty SS steel frame rig with a carbon fork As for the long travel dream: She is still there, but now in the far distant future!! However after owning a steel frame I do think this will be a prerequisite when the time comes!!!
