  1. The Sharks have good individual players but collectively are an ill-disciplined rabble. Blame starts with Gold whose recent behaviour should have earned him a far more severe punishment than the slap on the wrist he received. This total lack of discipline has permeated down to the players with the 'captain', Mtawarira, openly arguing and displaying dissent against the referee - (referee right; beast wrong) and the players, towards the end of the game, effectively giving up on playing rugby and trying to take opposition players out. Contrast this to a well coached and disciplined Lions unit. Tough times for us Shark supporters
  2. Nice spot - I was brought up about 15 minutes up the road (Milford). Was going to start a thread about Kiwis coming to SA but decided against it as I thought I may get a bit lonely... Anyhoo, don't be deceived by the lower temperatures - the NZ sun is harsh. Check this out: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/78363931/new-zealand-overtakes-australia-as-country-with-highest-rates-of-skin-cancer--study
  3. And then there's this:
  4. Yes, but the skiing is great. The Otago skifields, Treble Cone and Cardrona in particular, bring back fond memories.
  5. You're probably right, but still no footprint... which is kinda weird for someone who purportedly has 700+ friends. Would have thought the Facebook account alone would have popped up...? Keep in mind that Facebook accounts have been hacked or made up - I see there is some speculation floating over the legitimacy of several Facebook accounts that have been linked to recent racial outbursts. So probably legit, like I say, I will leave the cyber-sleuthing for those who are either good at it or have time on their hands. But I would like to see one more party verifying the record of the incident before the pitchforks and fires come out...
  6. I have been following these developments with some interest. Yes, I am a CL member, albeit I have not ridden in the cradle for quite some time. My initial reaction was one of disappointment. Now the cynic is in me is starting to arch an eyebrow. I have *never* witnessed this form of behaviour from fellow cyclists in the Cradle whether they are riding in CL colours or not. The CL team are a good, diverse bunch - in such a scenario I cannot comprehend that a) one or two of the bunch would not tell the offender to pull his head in; and b) stop to see if the rider subjected to the verbal and physical abuse was OK and to offer apologies. I'm no cyber-Sherlock but a quick search for Annie Kurzewski suggests she has no cyber footprint... Surely, if this did happen there would be cyclists - CL members and non-members willing to come forward and give their version of events? Or perhaps this was penned by a rather rotund, khaki wearing gentleman who drives a 79? Prepared to fall on my sword - or keyboard - if this is 100% legit but something just doesn't gel with me... Perhaps I am hoping that despite recent events the goodwill and camaraderie in the cycling community is alive and well. I certainly hope so.
  7. Rattue is not a journalist but an attention-seeking troll. Not even the media house he rants for describes him as a journalist; rather they (euphemistically) call him a 'columnist'. I gave up reading his drivel along time ago but he is click-baiter of repute. Don't get me wrong, I 'm pretty opinionated and enjoy hearing, disputing and debating opinions as long as they're backed by a modicum of intelligence. Rattue's rants are void of intellect. Typically he bags the All Blacks (as nothing generates clicks in NZ like anti-All Black sentiment) but in reality he is a small, petty little man. Don't let it get to you - hopefully if he's ignored he'll go away. If you get into a mind-game with this moron he'll likely drag you down to his level and beat you with experience!
  8. Initial reports state that his partner/wife was also killed in the crash - they are survived by their three month old daughter who was airlifted to hospital. Very sad indeed.
  9. And to stay with the train theme, here's Jeff Back and Rod Stewart giving the Impression's classic a revisit...
  10. Move over Cat Stevens, here comes Natalie Merchant and 10,000 Maniacs,,, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-wcrJgecWY
  11. Stripped down... just Finn and an acoustic guitar. Unfortunately, the sound quality is a bit suspect - apparently sourced from the feed of a Sydney radio station.
  12. Post-rock track of 2014
  13. Cyndi Lauper (1984) and Tuck & Patti (1988)
  14. The Who (1973) and Pearl Jam (2008) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygOaNo3M_Hw
  15. Great version of a great song...
  16. My reading suggests that the most covered song of all time is 'Summertime' from Porgy and Bess.
  17. Closer than the internet reference I found: Eleanor Rigby: 131 versions Yesterday: 3000+ http://mentalfloss.com/article/20811/quick-10-10-most-covered-songs-ever
  18. I'm going to side with Shebeen on this one. Yesterday has surely been covered by more artists than Eleanor Rigby. Sketch, what was your source? Agreed, Revolver was a better album than Help! but I have seen estimates of Yesterday being covered by thousands to millions of artists... to quote Eleanor Rigby "no one comes near"
  19. Way before World Music David Byrne had soul... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ar2VHW1i2w
  20. The cover to end all covers...
  21. Here's another version often overlooked. Superb. Good as the Stones? Good as the FBB? You decide... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiyCkSOF1pc
