  1. Hi, my bicycle was stolen some time ago and I only realised recently that these brackets were still on the bike. I am looking for the bracket that attaches to the bicycle to fit this saddle bag. I am also looking for the bracket that secures this pump to the bike. Any recommendations where I can start looking?
  2. I recently went to Hot Spot Cycles in Faerie Glen. Unfortunately Tarryn is no longer there. Jacques Jansen van Rensburg took over from her and I am told that he comes with a wealth of knowledge.
  3. From what I have seen on the internet, bolt on axles are preferred but quick release is not entirely ruled out. Does anyone have some experience with this? Recommendations? If I go bolt on axles, where does one even start looking for a basic wheel set?
  4. Lots of thumbs going up for Lyne. However I cannot seem to locate a pic or link. Can someone please post a link or pic.
  5. Slightly off topic here. I have been meaning to ask this. I am new to the MTB scene and more so to the tubeless scene. What is required on a ride re tyres and punctures? Do riders still carry pumps? Bomb and bomb connector? I see some mention of tubes and levers... is there a purpose for that on a tubeless MTB?
  6. Another question - wheels and more specifically wheel axle bolts. I see all single speed bicycles have wheel axles that bolt on to the fork and rear stays. Is there a specific reason for that? Would I be able to use road rims with quick release skewers on a single speed?
  7. There seems to be enough space yes. I was just worried about the brakes so I will have to make a plan there. I am not too keen on the fixie idea (not sure if I am ready for that yet) perhaps just a rear brake? Rear seems to be an easier fix than front. I will also have a look at the fork, thanks! Lots more questions to follow....
  8. So it turns out the wheels on here are 650 and not 700's. If there is enough space in the fork and frame would it be possible to easily change to 700 wheels, and if so, what impact will that have on brake positioning?
  9. Opinions needed: Would you think this is salvageable into an SS bicycle?
  10. Albeit like a penguin... Enjoy the shoes Dred
  11. I am going through the same exercise with my daughter now moving on from 16'' to 20''. Just got two quotes on Signal and Titan coming in between R3,8K and R4,2K which I find is quite steep considering next Christmas we will be close to moving to 24''... Makro and Game do not offer great variety on geared options.
  12. Do they sell wheels separately? I have a spare set of road wheels which I am thinking of converting. Obviously it will then just be single speed and not fixed
  13. So much knowledge and skill to be shared here - thank you. I am getting really excited about this.
  14. Is it not you guys that are on the wrong side....?
  15. That looks very nice! Where did the wheels come from? I think I will go for the flat/riser bars instead of the racer bars.
  16. The Rook's are pretty neat yes, that is basically what I am aiming for. Re the build - a frame with horizontal dropouts is a good start yes. Then the research and sourcing will start. Wheels - would I be able to convert a set of road wheels? BB and cranks...
  17. Not sure if I am ready for that yet, but sure seems very cool!
  18. I would love to see that. What type of frame was it originally?
  19. I had a look at those but I am looking for that clean simplistic look of a road SS. Just like the Rook's and many others. In my mind the tensioner route, is acceptable on a MTB, but not for the ride I have in mind.
  20. Revisiting an old thread.. I am itching to get myself a road single speed or single speed project. Has anyone done a recent successful build? Basically what I want to establish is whether it is worthwhile searching for a frame that can be converted, and then sourcing the parts etc. etc.? Or going the route of looking for a bargain SS as a start? Has anyone attempted to convert the rear dropouts on a road bike to horizontal dropouts? I suppose that will be the biggest issue?
  21. I did not know this! Also - thank you for all the other Aeropress replies. Another question - When making a single espresso, how far do you pull the plunger back? Just up to the (1) mark or further?
  22. On the topic of Aeropress. I received one recently as a gift an I quite like the idea of the simplicity of it. However, there are an abundance of methods to be found online. Does anyone have a tried and tested method they are willing to share?
  23. Has anybody been there recently? I have never been there. Are there shorter routes for the less experienced riders? Are these routes sufficiently marked?
  24. I also tried to get my hands on one for some time for a charity cause.
