  1. Thanks for all the advice, this is really helpful. Looks like the Fuji compares better with the Scott than any with the Silverback.
  2. Thank you Scotty, These brakes, OK? BRAKE SET Tektro Aurigo Pro Hydraulic Disc Brake, 180/160mm rotor
  3. Thanks, seems the best idea, it's not really a matter of upgrading - since I have been doing more road, but I have a VERY old Trek rigid fork etc, so no, I do not have any reference point
  4. Thanks, pardon my ignorance, but why air, big diff?
  5. Thanks, forgot to mention, i'm set on hard-tail 26, my mind tells me its cheaper to maintain and i can get better spec for by $$ I am not aiming to do big MTB races, I prefer road races, but I do want a MTB to do groenkloof, weekend aways, odd shorter races, mtb with friends and wife. As much as I would like to fiddle around, I just do not have the time. And regarding second hand, I do not know enough to make a call on used parts just to learn later that I now have to buy a new crank etc. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for the help
  6. Looks like this topic fell off the map, so I am sort of hi-jacking it for the moment. I am also in the market to buy a MTB, most probably new. Budget not more than R7500-R8000 So I am browsing specials etc. but what I would like to know is a few of the technical things, such as: What are the most important components to look at, e.g. is it better to go for the bike with the better brakes or shocks etc. Then, it would be nice to know the order of quality of components such as Shimano and SRAM. With regards to brakes, what is OK? Please help, I am in the dark here.
  7. Slightly off topic, but not worth starting a new one: I need help, I created a map and made it a 'return' route, now I cannot make it a one-way route again, does anyone know how I can do this without having to create the route from start? Thanks
  8. Great initiative! Can anyone please advise on distance, approx return time, (average speed ), etc. Thanks.
  9. Which model Trek is it? Rigid fork? Just curious, I also have an old Trek and have been thinking of converting for a long time now.
  10. Thanks Sias, good luck to all racing and please provide feedback.
  11. So, how was this race. The new venue? Route? etc.

  14. Which Kindles are you guys using? I recently got a Kindle for my birthday (not the touch) and also received the leather cover for it - unfortunately due to broken communication, the cover is for the Touch.
  15. There was an article on the front page of the Centurion Record (local newspaper) end of Feb this year about a father and two sons being attacked. http://www.rekord.co.za/story.aspx?sid=44816 another http://www.rekord.co.za/story.aspx?sid=43377
  16. The OP mentions GK, so I assume MTB?
  17. Anyone seen the new FRANK.NET banner ad on iafrica.com this morning - the graphics of the cyclist pedaling is quite amusing.. unable to post link
  18. Probably one of the best I have seen!
  19. Thanks - not even HR, just those 'normal' cat eye type ones.
  20. I recently discovered that my cycling computer was damaged beyond repair.. Don't ask... I'm in the market for a new basic cycling computer, my damaged computer had the basic functions, (cadance, speed, ave, odo, time, duration etc) I think it had 11 functions. I'm not looking to break the bank with Polar/Garmin/GPS etc, so something similar to what I had should do. This was for the road bike, but I am thinking of replacing the MTB computer aswell for the same or similar computer. What are your suggestions for replacing the computer?
